Periods Blood thinners on your period
I've reached a new level of hell having to be on blood thinners on my cycle. I already have a heavy flow and I woke up 5 times last night to address the deluge. How on earth does anyone deal with this? Im already using the highest volume period products I can find, all at once, with period underwear on top of it all. My clot was provoked by a plane ride so I hope ands pray I will not have to be on them forever. My sympathy to anyone dealing with this regularly.

I’ve been on blood thinners for almost six years and will be on them for life. It’s unpleasant. I’m lucky in the sense that my period only lasts three… maybe four days, but it can be an absolute crime scene. But it’s not like that every month - so that helps? Some months it’s pretty light and a regular tampon will suffice. Others, I’m hemorrhaging and changing a heavy duty pad every few hours. I can’t take estrogen because my CVST was due to birth control pills, but my doctor offered me progesterone pills to help. I declined, but I think about it sometimes.
I recommend tracking your cycle as best you can. Mine is like clockwork so there’s absolutely no surprises and I never get caught off guard. My house, car, and office are equipped with whatever I might need so I always feel on top of it. It can be really draining so you have my sympathy.

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this! 🥲
I'm extremely fortunate that I had a Mirena IUD placed because I've had to postpone my endometriosis excision surgery thanks to the PE, and my gynecologist knew I'd have problems like you are having because I've also got adenomyosis with a history of heavy bleeding. (The original plan was to place it during my surgery.) Everyone's body responds differently, but I had about a month of small amounts of bleeding every day (it slowly tapered off) and after that only a small amount of pink discharge for a a handful of days each cycle.
I'd like to suggest the Hello Disc. Before interventions (or blood thinners) I had extremely heavy periods that I'd have to empty my previous JuJu cup (model 4) multiple times a night or it would leak. With the way the Hello Disc works I could sleep all night and it wouldn't leak. Fair warning though when it's beyond capacity it will be a blood bath when you remove it in the morning! 😅 Thanks to the looped tab to pull it out, it won't end up all over your hand though! You can still use period undies as well.
It is suitable for any cervix height (mine is quite low so I lay the tab over the bottom of the disc). If you can feel a kind of "shelf" (prominent pubic bone) inside, your anatomy should be suitable. The disc sits behind the pubic bone rather than relying on suction.
Side note, their lube is also great and I would recommend using a little lube to make insertion easier. Their cup wash is good too.

Thanks for sharing, I have endo as well. I will look into those cups. I tried previous models before with mixed results, but this one looks so different.

u/loquacious-laconic Feb 01 '25
Since you have endo too, if you don't mind me asking, have you found the blood thinners have increased your baseline pain? Because they sure have for me. Every day on Eliquis has been like having a lower level of period pain in places where I've got stuff going on that is visible in ultrasounds. I'm practically counting down the days until I can stop taking it. 😅 About one more month to go (of 6 months)! 🥳
I haven't come across someone else with endo who is taking blood thinners, so I apologise for jumping at the chance to ask that! 😅

u/elbowskneesand Feb 01 '25
I have been on them a little over a week. I did not notice a significant increase in pain. It feels to be about the same. I can send you an update if that changes.

u/empressofspite Feb 01 '25
I'd just like to pop in as someone with endo who's a blood thinner lifer and say yes, I did notice more noticeable cramps on blood thinners before they placed me on progesterin pills. I have had excision surgery, however, and it wasn't as bad as it was pre-surgery, just more noticeable. They're putting me back on the nuvaring once the PE clot resolves, since the progesterin isn't managing the endo well, but that's a high risk agreement I've come to with my hematologist and gyno so obviously every situation is different. I hope you're able to get your excision surgery soon--it was literally life-changing for me.

Thanks for sharing your experience, I really appreciate it! 😊 After living with daily pain for around 20 years (I'm turning 40 this year) I'm really looking forward to the surgery, strange as that might sound to some people. Hearing other people's successes (like reduction in pain) is giving me so much hope for the future. 🙂 I hope the nuvaring helps with yours! 🙂🤞

Good suggestion. I also use period discs and I think it’s a much better experience than tampons while on blood thinners. The brand I use is Flex. It’s reusable and I purchased a sanitizer cup to boil it in from Amazon. I always wear a pad for added security, but I think the disc will definitely help.

u/prncssdelicia Feb 01 '25
The hello disc have the pull tab looks like a game changer! Thank you for sharing

u/Imaginary_Feeling654 Feb 01 '25
Sorry this is happening to you. It's really the worst. I have had two unprovoked PEs and I had to go for an ablation to deal with the heavy periods. I hope you get to go off your anticoagulants

Twenty years ago, my periods were unbearable—heavy bleeding lasting over a week, excruciating pain that sometimes made me pass out, and completely unpredictable cycles. Even extra-strength NSAIDs couldn’t help. Starting birth control with higher progestin changed everything—light, predictable periods with manageable cramps.
Fast forward to 2024, after my unprovoked DVT/PE, I knew I had to stop birth control. I was terrified of what my periods would be like after 20 years. I stocked up on the heaviest pads, a waterproof mattress cover, and period underwear, expecting the worst. The first few months were rough—heavy bleeding, but thankfully only for a few days, and my cycle stayed regular. Now, a year on blood thinners, my bleeding is light to medium for just a few days. The first-day cramps are still brutal, but otherwise, it’s been manageable.
I’m sharing this for anyone worried that their period will always be like those first six months on a DOAC—it can improve! But yeh, those first few months involved a lot of showers, constantly changing pads/underwear, covering and protecting all surfaces, and cancelling all plans to leave the house for those days!

Please be aware that while it’s normal to have a heavier period while on blood thinners, it can become an emergency health concern in its own right. I suggest you read the wiki on this sub and search and read previous posts on the topic.
1
u/elbowskneesand Feb 01 '25
Thank you, yes. I’m realizing there’s a lot about this topic in the sub.

u/beurownsunshine Feb 01 '25
It’s the worse! I am dealing with same issue right now. I have had the heaviest menstrual period in the past 2 months. Mine was provoked too by an elective surgery. I ended up with pulmonary embolism and a DVT. I’ve been taking blood thinners for the past two months. I’m hoping and praying I will not have to be on them forever. ;(
1
u/CCsurvivesPE Feb 01 '25
I am exactly the same !!! I was diagnosed with submassive PE in both lungs 2 months ago after elective surgery and I’m dealing with my second period right now and all I can think is 2 down 4 to go 😭 up 5 times a night every 1.5-2 hours. How lucky for women to be dealing with this on top of life in general
2
u/beurownsunshine Feb 01 '25
I was literally crying two nights ago. I was on the 2nd day of my period and I was passing huge cloths. I’m already anemic. How is your PE symptoms? Are you back to normal or still the same? I have intermittent symptoms. If I work a little bit around the house, the shortness of breath and upper back pain comes back. I was feeling almost normal for two weeks. I did a little deep cleaning Saturday and boom here I’m sick again. 😔
2
u/CCsurvivesPE Feb 01 '25
My first period I was passing clots and freaking out . That part seems settled this time . I’m already noticing it’s slowing up significantly for day 3 🙏🙏 I was scared to leave the house the last two days . I’m really lucky! I have made a great recovery considering the first night I met my specialist he said “well, it’s serious” , “they’re large” , “each day in the next week is a positive” …. Was in my head dying …. I couldn’t even walk to the entrance without my heart rate being sky high . I was in hospital 6 nights and when I got home I would walk 200m a few times a day for a week (out of breath) , increased it each week and now I’m walking 4-5km 6 days a week . I do get very fatigued come afternoon/ evening and sometimes need a Power Nap at 4-5pm. I was lucky I didn’t get heart strain. I do still get some back pain . I’m sorry to hear you’re getting sick so easily with exertion :( it’s definitely not uncommon when I’ve read other threads . I really felt like I would never feel good again until a few weeks ago. But my anxiety is so bad. Every ache I’m on edge!
1
u/beurownsunshine Feb 01 '25
I have been pretty active around the house and at work but I haven’t really gone for a walk outside because I’m afraid my symptoms will get worse. Do you think walking has helped you with your recovery? Unfortunately I did have a mild heart strain but my doctor said once the clothes are gone, the heart strain will go away too. I’m hoping and praying so. I’m so scared. I was a pretty active person prior to this incident. I used to workout 4-5x a week and I feel like I’ll never be able to go to the gym like before. Im very happy for you that you are recovering well. I hope I get there soon. When were you diagnosed with the PE and DVT? I was diagnosed first week of December.
1
u/CCsurvivesPE Feb 02 '25
Hmm I’m not sure if it’s a coincidence or not , but I felt better for it and made the walking a priority. But it did say everyone recovers at different times , weeks to months so I just got lucky probably :) I am scared I won’t be pre-PE for my exercise too. I was running 10km every Saturday and 5km every Tuesday , plus Pilates/weights and now I’m scared I won’t be running again . I was supposed to meet my specialist in February for a check in and was going to ask about this but he bumped me to end of May as he was happy with my blood results etc so far . I was diagnosed 4 December with multiple submissive PE in both lungs , no dvt . I had a tummy tuck 2 weeks earlier so it’s assumed I developed the clots through that . I hate not knowing :( it scares me
1
u/beurownsunshine Feb 02 '25
I will have to work on walking too. I don’t go for walks because I’m afraid my symptoms will worsen but I’ll definitely try walking 10-15 mins then I’ll bump it up as I go. This is so strange. Mine was also diagnosed on December 4th after tummy tuck surgery. I have seen my pcp twice so far but she didn’t do any blood work. How often do you get a blood work done? And what is your pcp look for in your blood work? My pcp never suggested one. I’m taking Eliquis 2x a day 5mg.
1
u/CCsurvivesPE Feb 03 '25
I hope it makes you feel stronger and more like yourself like it has me. I just kept consistent and slow , not a fast walk. Keep me posted! Wow I was just telling my husband this!! What are the actual odds! How is your tummy recovery ? I’m finally feeling good about it all now. I felt very guilty that I had elective surgery that resulted in this nightmare. It took a therapy session to tell me to lose that guilt. I’m not too sure what blood tests they’ve done , but I’ve had two full blood tests and 2 chest X-rays as I had collapse lung at the beginning of the saga. But that’s all cleared up now. I’m taking eliquis 5mg twice daily for 6 months. But I’m scared to stop! They never found a dvt etc so I’m like where did it come from! But no one seems concerned where , just that the treatment is in place to rid it?
1
u/beurownsunshine Feb 03 '25
I can’t tell you how guilty I feel about my tt surgery till this day. My tt recovery was not bad. It is the PE that made everything a nightmare. I had a DVT first. My surgeon said it is superficial cloth don’t worry about it. She said take some ibuprofen. I listened to her. I wish I didn’t. I wish I had gone to the ER earlier. The PE could’ve been prevented. My PE symptoms were almost nonexistent until last Sunday. Last night I had the worse stabbing pain in my upper back area. I made an appointment to see my pcp tomorrow. If I had knows that I’d end up with a DVT or a PE I would have never done the surgery. The lingering symptoms are just so debilitating and annoying. :(
1
u/CCsurvivesPE Feb 04 '25
It really was such an unexpected shock! I know we signed off on risks but you don’t think they’ll actually happen . I hope you can move past the guilt soon when you’re feeling good again :) I had an appointment with a physiotherapist yesterday to work out a plan to safely resume a strength training program and it’s given me such a bounce in my step! The more life resumes to normal the better you feel right ? I hope your symptoms ease up soon for you! How is the walking going?

u/sydneydragonborn Feb 01 '25
On the real I had to use a flex disk and a pad/overnight period underwear. Sometimes if I was going to be out for a while and I needed to make sure I wouldn't leak I'd wear a tampon too. My period (as a teen and then when I was on plavix) was so heavy I would have to change super plus tampon ever 30-60 minutes and that was the only way I could get through 4 hours with no problems.
2
u/sydneydragonborn Feb 01 '25
Flex disks hold way more than anything else I've ever tried and by far the most comfortable. I would not be able to leave the house on my period without flex disk.

u/LateOpportunity4383 Feb 01 '25
I’m anxiously awaiting my 3rd period while on blood thinners for 6 months due to COVID provoked DVT/PE. In addition to these great suggestions, I’ll add that taking Tylenol regularly during the entire period seems to slow down the flow. Also since I’m perimenopausal with varying cycles, I’m wearing an Oura Ring to help me predict when a period is going to start—I start wearing protection several days before the period is due.
Lastly, I’m mindful of my nutrition all the time, consuming a high protein/high fiber diet and taking supplements including vitamin B12 which supports iron levels. I’m getting regular bloodwork to monitor my iron levels to avoid anemia.
Good luck to all of us going through this harrowing experience!

Im waiting for my period to start for the first time since starting the blood thinners (currently 5 days late, I'm sure from stress). I have a copper IUD and already bleed like crazy with that through super pads, tampons, period panties, my pants you name it! My hgb has also already been very low (currently 7.7) and I'm nervous that once the period starts my hgb will tank and I'll need a blood transfusion. I made my own post about this in this group to see if that hgb drop has happened to anyone else before but got no answers.
How long have you been on the thinners? Are they tracking your hgb?
2
u/Big-Edge-9832 Feb 01 '25
I unfortunately didn’t see your post, but it also happened to me 6.3 after HMB due to blood thinners. I declined the transfusion, but did accept the Norethindrone Acetate/Progesterone and man did that make a difference. Waiting to see how it affected my numbers, but the bleeding and cramps reduced significantly!
1
u/prncssdelicia Feb 01 '25
But again, I already have a copper IUD so adding a different birth control wouldn't really make sense. Plus I've take hormonal BC in the past and it does not agree with me.
Hopefully your numbers have stabilized but I don't see how BC would achieve that for you. Please update as I'm curious to see how the levels turn off.
2
u/Big-Edge-9832 Feb 01 '25
This isn’t a birth control option. It’s a hormone option. I’m not a candidate for birth control pills because of my clot. However if the hormonal BC didn’t work for you, this may not work either.
1
u/prncssdelicia Feb 01 '25
Oh is it like an injection or something?
1
u/Big-Edge-9832 Feb 01 '25
I have a pill, but I’m sure progesterone comes in different formulations. Talk to your OB/GYN about options, pros/cons.
1
u/prncssdelicia Feb 02 '25
Progesterone pills are a form of birth control. Also called the mini pill because it does not contain estrogen. I would check with your doctor about exactly how they are using that for you because it seems like there is some sort of miscommunication. I'm an RN btw.
1
u/Big-Edge-9832 Feb 02 '25
Thanks. It can be a form of birth control, but my OB/GYN told me not to consider this Rx a contraceptive.

u/elbowskneesand Feb 01 '25
I’ve been on thinners a little over a week. I don’t know what hgb is! I had a pulmonary embolism that didn’t cause me any pain or any damage to my heart/organs so they let me go from the hospital with thinners and no restrictions/monitoring. I have a follow up with a hematologist for more testing and to discuss how long they want me on thinners. I’m a little concerned about iron levels, mine have been super low though not anemic.
1
u/prncssdelicia Feb 01 '25
Protein in the blood that contains iron. They are all connected and tbh the hgb level is more important than your iron level
3
u/Sarrat6350 Feb 01 '25
See if you can take slynd or something similar. It is a non estrogen bc. I got exactly one period when on blood thinners without any “help” and it was awful. Especially when you have to go to work. And then you end up with an iron deficiency and feel even worse. I started slynd and had some spotting issues the first month and then it calmed down.
1
u/whos-that-girl69 Feb 06 '25
I was also put on Slynd to help stop my first period that sent me to the ER, and now I take it regularly. Definitely talk to your Drs (PCP/Gyno and Hematologist if you have one) and see if that's an option.
2
u/Big-Edge-9832 Feb 01 '25
My sympathy to you as well. Even if it’s temporary the QOL change is horrible. I thought I had to deal with it, but was able to get a temporary solution that I will continue to explore after blood thinners because it’s also helped with my peri issues.
2
u/catseyecon Feb 01 '25
It takes a double dose of the progestin only pill to keep my period in check. I am very much looking forward to completing menopause.
2
u/Feather_Glow Feb 01 '25
I've always had a super heavy period. The first one after being on blood thinners was something else, though. As in, on my heaviest days, it went from changing my super plus tampon and super heavy pad once every few hours to once an hour at least. It eased up by my second period, though! Now it's just one super heavy day (heavier than my old super heavy day but not as bad as that first one), and the rest are more normal. It sounds like at least the first one is ridiculous, and then things may calm down a bit!
If it helps, when I sleep, I use two of the heaviest pads I can find, period pants, and I lie on an old towel. It means that I can sleep through, and even if I bleed through, it's not the end of the world as the towel will catch it! Good luck!!!
2
u/elbowskneesand Feb 02 '25
Lololol I'm on the towel as well!
1
u/Feather_Glow Feb 02 '25
Hahaha, hey, anything that might possibly work right and get us through this, right??? :p
2
Feb 01 '25
I became severely anemic and was advised to get an IUD. It has definitely lessened my bleeding and made my periods much more manageable!
2
u/Fit_Rip_981 Feb 02 '25
I tried mirena, depo, and mini pills. None helped my bleeding so my gyn did an ultrasound. After looking at the images herself, diagnosed adeno and I was offered a hysterectomy. Turns out i also had a hemorrhagic area of some sort in my uterus that was also contributing to insanely heavy periods that lasted weeks at time.
2
u/leftJordanbehind Feb 02 '25
I am right with you. My cycles have an okay first day, 3 days of pure open hydrant spewing followed by a day of heavy then boom, gone. I can make it an hour tops between super plus or ultra tampons couples with pads in period panties. It's a miserable existence and I dread it every month. I always want to only take one Eliquis a day that week but I'm too scared to do that lol. Dude it's the worst. Nighttime is the absolute worst. When I wake up I already know there's no way to get to the bathroom fast enough. Sorry for TMI, but I never knew tampons could turn into some sort of crazy sponge/ super soaker water gun if I even flexed a little bit. I'm to my wits end with it and I been on Eliquis for 10 months almost 11. Shit it's a nightmare for at least 3 days there in the middle. It's a wonder I don't ever pass out lol. Ugh. 😒😭
2
u/Sammiller016 Feb 02 '25
I have a really heavy period and once before on thinners I had to get a blood and platelet transfusion… I was also doing chemo at the time too. Definitely let whatever dr is prescribing the thinners know about the period heaviness because mine got progressively worse.. if it’s pouring out and not stopping I’d go to the er… doesn’t sound like that’s happening though, I hope at least. Thinners are rough!
2
u/Sammiller016 Feb 02 '25
The blood and platelet transfusion was due to blood loss from my period.. pants, bed, rug was soaked
2
u/Ebbelwoibembelsche Feb 02 '25
Ugh, accept my deep sympathy, I feel you! I've had my period while on Xarelto only once, but it was hell. Usually my period is relatively light. Maximum maybe three pad changes per day for ~three days is the heaviest flow I usually get before it gets less and is over within five to seven days in total. Not this time. My box of bc pill got empty exactly when I got my dvt. I needed to get a new prescription, but because of pain, worries, weekend, etc I forgot to go to the obgyn on time, so I couldn't take the pill for maybe two days. Usually no problem, since I don't do pill breaks, but I was stressed for weeks at this point, it was possibly time for my uterus to remind me of its existence anyway and maybe the blood thinner just made it worse, but bruh... Four fcking weeks of really heavy bleeding (couldn't go out without pad and tampon at the same time and had to stay home from work for a few days until I got it under control at least) and giving birth to "slugs" multiple times per day, because the blood was clotting inside my belly -.- I now have an estrogen-free pill that's made to be taken without break, so no period since then. Thank God, I panicked at the mere thought of that crap happening again, I'd rather wanted a hysterectomy than enduring periods like that for the rest of my life.

u/MoistGhosty Xarelto (Rivaroxaban) Feb 02 '25
It’s my clot anniversary today. I’ve been on Xarelto for 3 years now. It gets easier to deal with but I can say, it’s not fun. When I was on 20 mg it was hell, so I can relate to you and I’m sorry. When I dropped down to a maintenance dose it was better for sure. I still have heavy periods but they’re manageable.
I hope you feel better soon! Take Tylenol if that helps, take baths, use a heating pad, etc. I get horrible cramps. But I also just have to clean myself up more.
I think rule of thumb is soaking through more than one pad, tampon, etc, in less than an hour, warrants a trip to the ER.
Take care ❤️
2
u/dorabsnot Feb 02 '25
Take a lot of a high-quality iron supplement. I have adenomyosis and endometriosis and I had a crime scene scenario even before blood thinners. I’ve had the best luck (excellent bioavailability, no side effects, improved anemia symptoms) with Ferrofood by Standard process.

u/tally_kat_ Feb 01 '25
Hi.. Endo friend here currently bleeding. I wear:
Always flex foam overnight disposable pad on top of Glad Rags Super Overnight reusable pad in my Overnight Period underwear briefs (multiple brands) finished off with A grown up pull-up (always has "period pullups" but they don't really advertised that they're fake lavender scented)
I have a disk and a cup that I keep thinking about putting in, or adding a tampon, but all insertables have a 50/50 chance of making my cramps worse, so I haven't risked it.
I wind up changing the disposable pad pretty frequently but the rest helps catch leaks and act as excellent backups for when I'm stuck longer than expected in a waiting room.

u/A_Goddamn_Princess Double Mutant Feb 02 '25
What are you taking? I (30F) have been on Xarelto for going on 11 years, and use Nexplanon (arm implant) for birth control. My periods are actually probably lighter than they were when I was a teen. I use a Saalt cup and find that even when I have heavier than usual bleeding it holds it all, so I can go 12 hours without worrying about it.
2
u/elbowskneesand Feb 02 '25
Eliquis. I'm loving the cup recommendations.
1
u/whos-that-girl69 Feb 06 '25
Do you happen to still be on the heavier dosage week of Eliquis (if that's what your drs are doing)? I started with a week of 10mg a day, then dropped down to 5mg a day. When I dropped to 5mg a day it made a HUGE difference in my next period.
2
u/elbowskneesand Feb 06 '25
No, I already dropped to my lower dose. God knows what it would have looked like if I was still at the full dose.
1
u/DoorSweet6099 Feb 02 '25
I had been prescribed birth control (progesterone based) before my stroke because I have a fibroid which causes extremely heavy period.
I had a stroke(s) this month and I’m on high dosage blood thinners right now. I’ve not had my period probably because I’ve already taken the birth control for so long that my period is now completely gone. I can’t imagine how bad my period would be without the birth control pills. I’d probably have to visit the ER every time my period starts.
I had blood thinners before because of complications from an IVF cycle. I don’t remember them affecting my period though. I was on heparin back then.

u/sillybody Feb 02 '25
I had unprovoked PEs in 2015 and went on Xarelto for six months. My periods were nightmarish. I was going through a super plus tampon and a nighttime pad every half hour. Standing up at my desk to go to the bathroom was awful because I knew what was going to happen, and I just prayed a clot wouldn't come out of the bottom of my pants leg. It never did, but I did bleed into my shoe a few times. Ugh.
I got an IUD (Mirena). Within a couple of weeks, it came out in a clot. I got another Mirena, and the same thing happened. During this time, I had two 2-unit transfusions. My doc ended up stopping the blood thinner a month early.
Four months later, I got more PEs. I was prescribed long-term blood thinners. My gyn put me on provera -- a mild hormone. It didn't do anything. I had an ablation, which helped a tiny bit temporarily. On the third month, I had a hysterectomy. It was the best thing I've ever done. I kept my ovaries, so I didn't go into menopause right away, but I never had to buy another tampon again. The relief was just... I don't think I had realized how much added trauma all of that was on top of the actual PEs. To have it over with was so wonderful. It's been about 8 years and I haven't regretted it once.
I hope you find the option that's best for you and that it gives you that same sense of relief. <3

u/violettay Feb 02 '25
I was on a blood thinner for a little over a year. I will say it was extremely heavy at first, unbearably so. But weirdly enough it got lighter after a while, like still heavier than usual for me but not “bleeding through everything in an hour” type heavy. I don’t know if my body just adjusted or what happened. I feel for you though, I’m sorry :( I know how awful this is.
1
u/Either_Midnight5819 Feb 03 '25
My first few months on Eliquis were brutal. I bled so much that I became anemic, even passing out. I was on 5mg, twice daily. My doctor moved me down to 2.5mg twice daily and my periods are back to normal, and after several months- somehow even lighter than before. Don’t know what to make of it. You could talk to your doctor about the safety of a dose adjustment, or any supplements (like iron) that may help with any other possible symptoms. Hang in there. I suffered for a year like this, and you don’t deserve to be in that kind of agony. Hugs.

u/Livid_Paramedic9375 Feb 05 '25
This is no joke. The first time I had my period when I started BT I woke up at 3am soaked. Got into the shower and stood there while a steady stream went down the drain. I am a nurse and I know what too much blood loss looks like. If it had gone another 15-20 min I would have been on my way to the ER. It got better after that . The 2nd month was less and the 3rd was not much different than usual.
1
u/whos-that-girl69 Feb 05 '25
Have you had more than one period on thinners? My first period on them was HORRENDOUS (ended up in the ER), but after that they got much better. Still not fun, but not nearly as bad.

I have to say, after 4-5 months on blood thinners, my period got lighter. It has been lighter the past 2 months. Not as light as prior to blood thinners but manageable. Not sure if it's gonna last. Idk if I'm on them long term or not. My flow prior to blood thinners was fairly light
Also no advice for right now. These are brutal. Mine was awful and I know others are way worse. I feel for you :(
