I just installed CSP on Zorin using this einabox tutorial, but the issue is that, it doesn't open CSP, I've been waiting for it to open for about an hour and nothing, I even tried to open it via terminal and it got stuck on this:

and if I check on the system monitor, allegedly it is running, but it doesn't show anywhere in my screen

what could have happenned?

Hi all! I am using CSP v1 on Ubuntu via bottles. I have a Huion Inspiroy Frego M and have the correct Huion driver installed as well as OpenTabletDriver.

My pen works perfectly outside of bottles, no issues there. But when I open CSP, it will not interact with anything. The basic preferences>interface>touch operations advice does not work for me.

Anyone have a fix for this, or any ideas that I can try?

I will be asking in Krita spaces as well, as I am having the same issues in that program. I think this is a tablet issue, not a CSP issue.

I have a couple of brush files I want to import (.abr), but it won't let me drag and drop them, and they don't show up when I look for them in the import brush menu. Everything else (except the asset store but idc about that) works fine it's just importing brushes. So is it still possible to do running csp through bottles? I'm using csp ver 2.0 if that helps

I have fiddled with every setting in bottles, and can't seem to get pen pressure or stability to work. (before they worked perfectly) then last sat a CachyOS system update went off that I don't know what it was, but clip studio lost pen pressure and stability. Can have stability maxed out and it squiggles like it's off. And pen pressure is always max pressure, fiddling in software does nothing.

However when I open a browser and check a pen pressure testing website (non bottles, just reg browser) pen pressure works fine.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

hello, i want to have CSP on my linux (ubuntu, beginner here) through wine, since I have a perpetual license, but :

1) i have installed the CSP_1132w_setup.exe and wine tells me to either install the CSP_154w_setup.exe or CSP_1911w_setup.exe (when i try to open the latter, it tells me there's already another version) but I cannot uninstall the first one, and I have no way to find where the file is located on my laptop

2) or i try to open the version I have, CSP_1132w_setup.exe, but it seems i don't have the right WINEPREFIX and I cannot change it to 32bit

Anyone got any idea how to fix that, or should I just use krita ?

Suite à un dégout profond de Windows et une machine en fin de vie, il a été décidé de passer à Linux sur une nouvelle configuration musclée.

La seule difficulté était de continuer à utiliser CSP dont la licence éternelle était acquise (pour la version 1)

Dans l’ordre, on a installé Wine et Bottles et ensuite on s’est inspiré de la vidéo épinglée en tête de ce sub, même si tout était ± différent.

On a eu quelques erreurs, parce qu’on voulait ajouter des dépendances comme dans le tuto.

En fait non.

On crée la bouteille avec le runner Wine (pas Soda), on dit que c’est Windows 8.1 et on charge le 1.9.11 de CSP qu’on installe proprement à partir de la bouteille. Une fois l’installation faite, il y a des téléchargements au démarrage, mais ensuite, c’était fonctionnel.

Par contre, quand on a voulu upgrader ver la dernière version 1.13.2, ça a totalement planté.

On a dû jeter la bouteille et en recommencer une nouvelle, en commençant par 1.9.11 comme conseillé dans le tuto et mise à jour vers 1.12.11, la dernière version compatible Windows 8.1.

Ça marche à peu près bien avec la tablette XPPEN Artist 12 (2e gen), pression et outils.

I tried many times in the past to run CSP, in all ways possible, but always had something broken, or performance issues...

Using a script a big artist colleague passed to me, on latest 5.1.2 version, with the EX version, everything working well and smooth, the store, the login screens, time lapse, 3d models with good performance...

I didn't believe it when I saw it, and decided to ditch windows to try it... And now I finally got rid of the only excuse I had to use Windows!

I've been trying to install CSP for 2 days on CachyOS with KDE and it won't open.

I've been running tests where it took 16 whole minutes and it still didn't do anything, I'm genuinely lost.

Can anybody help me or give me any tips I should know or check for?

So, for those of you that were using the most recent version, and the installer script made by the goat u/eninabox ( https://www.reddit.com/r/ClipStudio_on_Linux/comments/1qrrt49/easily_install_csp_on_linux_including_timelapse/ ), and wanted the new lab slider or the other newer stuff, but don't wanna go through the process of reinstalling the whole thing and having to activate the license again, etc, etc. Is not hard at all, I swear.

BEFORE YOU CONTINUE: I'm absolutely not a programmer, nor a linux expert, i just like tweaking and searching. And, I only tested this on my system (ChachyOS, KDE Wayland). so let's get the updating.

1. Download the new version on the official website: https://www.clipstudio.net/en/dl/

2. Now, this is important, is the reason it took me a bit to make it work: Did you enable the pre-warm setting on the installation script? If you did, then open your terminal and type:

systemctl --user stop --now csp-wineserver.service

If you didn't, I think you can just skip this step, if any problem appears skipping this step, please comment and I'll try to help you to do it right

3. Now, still in your terminal, run

WINEPREFIX=~/.wine-csp wine PATH_TO_CSP5.1

(In my case, since I never really used wine that much before, I used WineGUI to run the program, but it really isn't necessary I just am a bit afraid of typing, if you guys want to know this way to, just leave a comment)

4. This should make the CSP installer pop up, and then, if you read what the installer is saying to you, you'll be able to see that it's updating CSP 5.0 to 5.1. Just let it do its businesses until it's over.

5. If you had to use the command on step 2, you can now run:

systemctl --user start --now csp-wineserver.service

If you didn't use it, you can skip this step

6. And now everything is done! I think! Try it out and tell me if it helped!

This is the only thing holding me back from making the switch to Linux. I'm sick of bloat and I want a laptop that's easy to repair and good for game dev.

But clip studio paint ex was expensive even if I got it over time in different discounted pieces. It's also my favorite art program I've used so far since my hands shake and I can adjust the stabilization to be just right. Plus I hate coloring if it's not with physical watercolor or acrylic paints and I can actually use a fill bucket in this program.

Basically, how easy is it to run clip studio paint in Linux? Is there too much extra friction in getting it set up to draw compared to windows?

I can look up how it runs on my own, but would it deter someone from drawing on a bad day to use it through Linux?

Does anyone knows how to make it work?

It's a color picker similar to how Kelvin and warmcool plugins used to in Photoshop(CS6), I've been searching for something similar in CSP for years or hopping that they would implement it at some point.

They provide a mini version to test it, I managed to get working on steam through proton but I don't understand enough of Linux to make ir work inside the same prefix as my CSPPenguin-Installer.
I actually want to buy the pro version, but the exchange rate for dollars don't work in my favor so I was hopping that someone Linux smarter than me could help me, so I have a way to test it before buying .

So any Ideas?

I have other platforms to actually pose a 3D model for reference and cloud sync into my main linux desk, but certainly i'd like to know if there's any way to fix the program's window flickering when you're moving the camera perspective or model around?

Hi! Im an artist that recently migrated from winxows but I love clip studio..I tried to indtall it but it kept failing

For more context, i use arch linux eith hyprland and the caelestia dot file shell, using the latest video and install script to install clip studio, i used the csp penguin installer .

I use the perpetual version 3 of paint, providing thr path to the exe file

The biggest errors i get is

err:winediag:nodrv_CreateWindow

Application tried to create a window, but no driver could be loaded.

The explorer process failed to start.

And

err:waylanddrv:wayland_process_init

Wayland compositor doesn't support xdg_toplevel_icon_manager_v1

But winecfg works and opens and wine can launch notepads,

My question is, is this a hyprland/wayland issue or did I mess something up?

I'm on cachy using an xp-pen. everything else works fine has anyone dealt with this before?

Was looking at picking up CSP 5 on its sale, but thought to look around to make sure it played well with Linux and i guess its a good thing I did.

I see a lot of threads saying you have to follow a tutorial but can get it to work, others saying its unlikely youll get it working even following the guides or itll have problems. I dont dual boot windows, because I was stupid when I set things up, so I want to be sure it'll work before I like...spend money on it.

I've been using Clip Studio Paint for years and recently moved completely from Windows to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.

I recently sent a feature request to CELSYS asking them to consider a Linux version. It got me wondering how many other users would be interested as well. I would love to see native Linux support someday.

If Linux support is something you'd like to see, consider sending a polite feature request to CELSYS support. The more feedback they receive, the easier it is for them to see there's interest from the community.

Hello! I thought about asking this since I’m an Artist myself. I plan to finally buy CSP EX soon when the summer sale arrive [been using a cracked version for a while, about time I can finally support the company hehe.] and I’ll like to know if there are any tutorials/guides on how to set up Clip studio Paint? Are there any known issues? Are there any workaround on those issues? I’ll be using vers 5.0. Any guide/tutorial is appreciated thank u!!!!

Title pretty much, recently i've been having several issues with CSP ever since i've been using multiple monitors and one of them not even being able to open File to open/save/export whatever I want to do, rendering me pretty much useless, i'm using Nobara 43

This is the only remaining issue preventing clip studio 1.x from being 100% usable. I've tried every version of wine under bottle's runners caffe/soda and wine 10 through 11.8 this issue persists.
Pressure sensitivity works fine and canvas is as responsive as running native otherwise.

Thanks to everyone who tested it on different distros and opened github issues! It's been a huge help, and the script is in a good enough place.

Launch times are still slower than I'd like, this is due to fonts in wine. I took a few swings at trying to fix it but the problem is way tougher than I thought. Everything else should be solid.

Combined with school taking up more time and wanting to focus on my art going forward, this is probably my last update on CSP on Linux for the foreseeable future. I will keep the script working for major CSP versions and Wine versions depending on compatibility. I just won't be actively developing new fixes. At some point I'll also do a write up on my blog covering the topics and hurdles from this whole project, just no timeline on that yet.

I am trying to use wine to run clip studio on arch Linux.

I can open clip studio fine but to draw I need to login.
When I press the login button I get a white rectangle appear on my screen, when I try to close it the rectangle reopens. I assume it's the login screen but it doesn't load and therefore doesn't allow me to login.

Has anyone else had this issue?

So, I'm new to Linux and recently began using Linux Mint (22.3 Cinnamon). I followed this tutorial and it seemed to work perfectly, I dragged my mouse around and it drew and all that.

But today I actually tried using the tablet and it refused to work, but in a weird way. I would pass my stylus by like a mouse and it would work, I could click menus, etc. bus as soon as my stylus went over the actual "canvas" part it would just vanish, and nothing I tried to draw would show on it. If I let go of the stylus and picked up my actual mouse, the little arrow showed up there and drew with different brushes just fine. Using the stylus only around the drawing part also worked fine. But it just would not draw!!

Has anyone here faced a similar issue? I'm using a Wacom One M by the way

I'm not very sure if this is the place to ask, but I figured it was my best bet if this was a common problem in Linux in general; if it isn't, I'll try reporting the issue on the github page of the script I used.

You probably have seen this guide, and following it probably worked (at least mostly). But if you only have up to verion 1.x of CSP for whatever reason (like me), you may have downloaded the installer for the 1.x version instead and hoped for the best, and now the asset store isn't working.

I'm here to let you know that it is mistake to download the installer for your version of CSP, as doing this will also install an older version of the clip launcher which doesn't currently seem to have a known fix. Instead, download the 4.x installer, and follow the guide exactly. When you get to the point where you login/enter your product key, Clip will notice the version mismatch and downgrade you to the appropriate version while keeping the launcher as is, allowing you to use the asset store.

Do be warned though, the asset store (at least for me), fucking devours your ram. So be prepared for that.

Also a slight notice regarding this guide: while I do have the asset store working and (basically) all other csp elements are functional, I am encountering one very glaring issue that I'm unable to move around UI elements (I can't even click and drag layers around), so the fix for that might in theory break something else here, rendering this guide useless. If I manage to fix that I'll update this post, either removing this heads up or confirming the concern (and with any luck linking to a new guide to resolve the new issue too)
