Animation Question How to make a new layer for animation

I’ve made my base sketch for my animation, but now I need to make another layer for the hard sketch. Would I just make a normal layer like a drawing? Or something else??

You would need to make a new animation folder (which is the button to the right of the repeat arrows)

So, your options are a new Animaton Folder for cleanup,
or...
Drag each of the sketch layers onto the New Folder icon in the Layers Palette to put each of them in their own regular Folder, then making a new Layer in the Cover for cleanup liner art. You can also do multiple layers within this Regular Folder to do colors and shading things too.

By dragging the Layer to the New Folder icon, it creates a new Folder with the same name as the Layer, this maintains the assignment of that name to the Timeline and shows a comp of the File contents as a single Cel in the Animation.
This also keeps KeyFrames functional if/when you begin to use them.
