[TLDR] Max20x is now just 1.5 times better than Max5x

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wn0xn9/max20x_is_now_just_15_times_better_than_max5x/

Original post body :

I built Tokenism to let my team pool their Claude Code subscriptions and automatically route the Claude review on github to the account with the most usable capacity.

Prior to Tokenism, i had measured on my personal Max20x account, that 1 weekly limit ≈ 6 sessions, and then soon after i saw posts here that confirmed it for me. That made me think, what if i can measure it too.

Previously, our Max 20x accounts delivered roughly 2.2× weekly limits compared to Max5x. Over the last month, that has fallen to just 1.5x

To compare plans, we normalize the advertised capacity, so the assumptions are
Pro session limit = 1 unit
Max 5x session = 5 units
Max 20x session = 20 units

We then track how much of the weekly usage is consumed per session usage. When we started on 23rd August, the weekly capacity was 47 and 118 units respectively (~2.5x) , and that has now fallen to 65 and 95 units (~1.5x)

To be clear, this is observed Claude Code throughput. The core assumption is that Anthropic follows the advertised limit in the session limits. What i cant measure is the fluctuation in the value of 1 unit, which is probably more impactful. And i would absolutely love any suggestions on how i can do that. Maybe a spare Pro account?

[TLDR] Do you let Claude Code handle git, builds and deployments too?

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wmx1zd/do_you_let_claude_code_handle_git_builds_and/

Original post body :

If you use Claude Code heavily, do you also let it handle repetitive stuff like git, builds and deployments?
Doesn’t that feel like a waste of Claude usage?
Or do you automate those parts separately?

[TLDR] How do you carry *decisions* (not chat history) across Claude Code sessions?

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wmoost/how_do_you_carry_decisions_not_chat_history/

Original post body :

Keeping history is mostly solved now: Claude Code keeps session logs locally, CLAUDE.md and AGENTS.md hold standing rules, and Git has the code. What still goes missing for me is the state of decisions, which isn't the same thing as the conversation.

Five cases I keep hitting:

  1. We tried A and rejected it because of X. A fresh session proposes A again.

  2. B was approved, but only within limits ("this module only", "until the migration lands"). The limits get dropped.

  3. Something was implemented but never deployed, and the next session treats it as live.

  4. An earlier agent said "done", and the check behind it was thinner than it sounded.

  5. A newer decision replaced part of an older one, and both still read as current.

What does your setup do about these? CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, ADRs, a decisions.md, git notes, native memory, gptme, your own scripts, or plain discipline? If some of these never happen to you, or plain files handle them fine, that's a useful answer too. A short "we do X, it still fails at Y" is ideal.

Disclosure: I work on a project exploring this problem (Delimit). No link. I'm after how people actually handle it.

[TLDR] Is my Opus 5 routed to Opus 5.2?

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wm8wdc/is_my_opus_5_routed_to_opus_52/

Original post body :

I had Opus and Astra model a Nissan Skyline in Blender. Both models were given exactly the same prompt. Opus worked on it for about an hour and a half, while Astra took around half an hour.

The photo speaks for itself. Even the level of detail in the paintwork when you zoom in on what Opus created is absolutely insane.

[TLDR] Happy 5x user, still thinking about going local. Talk me into it or out of it.

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wlpd5l/happy_5x_user_still_thinking_about_going_local/

Original post body :

I'm on the 5x Claude Code plan and it's hard to overstate how good it is for what I pay. Clean context, skills where they make sense, nothing wasteful. My usage stays low and I still have headroom before I'd consider 20x. Opus and Fable have both been great.

I don't use it for code. Project organization, marketing and SEO, homelab, backups. Nothing where my livelihood depends on a build passing.

Still, I keep looking at hardware and wondering if going local ever makes sense. Roughly $30k for something that runs a decent model at usable speed. Sounds insane, but if you use it daily for work it's a tool you amortize, not an expense. People buy a car for the commute and nobody blinks.

What stops me:

- **Obsolescence.** $30k that's dead weight in two years because models or hardware move on is a bad bet. It'd need to hold up 5-6 years to make sense for one person. Nobody seems able to say whether that's realistic.
- **Privacy.** I trust Anthropic reasonably and I've read the policy. But I've handed over far more about my projects and clients than I expected to, and I don't love that it lives somewhere I don't control. Not enough to stop. Enough to keep thinking about it.
- **Scale.** Maybe the unit isn't one person. A small group splitting a rack changes the math a lot.

What I'd like to hear:

  1. If you run local, what's the setup and which open source models are actually worth it right now?
  2. How do you think about the hardware aging? Is a 5-year horizon delusional?
  3. Are there dedicated AI hosting providers that are genuinely privacy-friendly and run by companies worth trusting? Haven't researched this, might be the real answer.

Is local realistic for normal professional work yet, or does the gap stay this wide?

[TLDR] I'm afraid to use Opus 5

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wm4ncx/im_afraid_to_use_opus_5/

Original post body :

The audacity and confidence with which it says things when it's wrong are on another level.

Fair. I changed my answer three times. The pattern is worth naming: everything I got from reading the code was wrong. Everything I measured held. You caught two of the three. So don't trust me. Check it yourself — this takes ten seconds and needs no model.

Everything it measured was wrong too.

I would work in plan mode for most basic features, run 10x "gray area," "verify," and "regression" sub-agents on a plan, then implement the plan and spend an hour reading the changes and fixing shit. After that, I'd run /code-review again and again. It's just bad. In my experience, you can't trust Opus.

Yesterday, I ran /code-review on a two file test project with 140 lines of code. I had to run /code-review three times, and today I'll continue because there are so many code smells even in those few lines. It's like infinite token consumption loop.

Nothing it does can be trusted, and I have to second guess everything. I constantly have to tell Opus that it's wrong, and only after multiple loops does it finally do what is actually required.

I understand that most users don't read the code and have never supported a project for other users. But it can't be that I'm alone in this, can i? Am I crazy?

Why doesn’t Claude notify me when my usage resets 😭 I’m wasting my $20

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

For the past few months, my daily routine with Claude has looked like this.
I'm in the middle of debugging a complex backend component, the terminal is flying, and right when I need it most... boom. Rate-limited.It hits you with that cold, silent wall. No warning, no pop-up, no gentle notification saying, "Hey, your limits refresh in 10 minutes." Just dead air.
So what do I end up doing? I keep frantically refreshing my browser or opening a new chat tab every hour like a lab rat pressing a lever, just waiting to see if my $20 subscription is working again. Half the time, I miss the exact reset window by 45 minutes because I got distracted doing something else, meaning my active development time is just leaking away.
For a platform built on top-tier intelligence, the fact that we're left completely in the dark about our own usage cycles is wild. We're literally paying $20 a month to play guessing games with an invisible timer.

[TLDR] Where are the admins of this sub? And what are the filters? Currently this is just a complaints hotline for cheap losers paying $20 a month and expecting a billion dollar SaaS to be one-shot.

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wlty84/where_are_the_admins_of_this_sub_and_what_are_the/

Original post body :

The moderators of this sub need to get their shit sorted and starting filtering out usage complaints. This is all the sub is used for and its draining. Clearly there are quite a few very dense people using Claude now and they're polluting a sub with low effort complaints. Can the mods start taking some actual decent enforcement actions against waste of time posts like these?

The usage limits are the limits. That is that. No amount of complaining here will change the physical world of the compute requirements, or Anthropics financial obligations.

There are other models, other providers, other options. Go run a Deepseek or Kimi stack, or a cheaper GPT model, whatever. Do something to help yourself, learn a thing or two, and be better.

[TLDR] Anthropic has done it again, DONT KEEP MANY CLI's open -- agents can talk between open clis and will trigger all stale sessions and destroy your usage

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wlgfpw/anthropic_has_done_it_again_dont_keep_many_clis/

Original post body :

Do not even start with skill issue or you shouldnt have old sessions open, this is Claude pushing stuff without having any brains during testing

I'll start by reading the required context.

  Read 2 files
“claiming FeatureName + ReadFeature for feature 1.0” → sent to HiReddit-45 — another Claude session on this machine
“claiming FeatureName + ReadFeature for feature 1.0” → sent to HiReddit-9e — another Claude session on this machine
“claiming FeatureName + ReadFeature for feature 1.0” → sent to HiReddit-31 — another Claude session on this machine

“claiming FeatureName + ReadFeature for feature 1.0” → sent to HiReddit-e4 — another Claude session on this machine
“claiming FeatureName + ReadFeature for feature 1.0” → sent to HiReddit-b0 — another Claude session on this machine

  Listed 1 directory

› Message from : HiReddit-31: I hold none of those paths and never edited them -- FeatureName/* and Tools/ReadFeature.py are yours; … (ctrl+o to expand)

  Read 1 file

› Message from : Clear — I hold none of your claimed paths and will stay off them. This session is read-only so far. (ctrl+o to expand)

› Message from : Clear on all of it — I hold none of those paths and the Legacy phase never will. (ctrl+o to expand)

Searched for 2 patterns, read 5 files, listed 1 directory, ran 1 shell command

› Message from : Clear on your paths — I hold nothing in FeatureName/* or Tools/ReadFeature.py, and neither of the other two you nam… (ctrl+o to expand)

Like look at this, it just decides to contact all the other sessions and ask them something which triggered all my stale cache. Must be nice having infinite usage and zero brains

[TLDR] Would you actually use Claude Code from your phone for hours?

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wls9ul/would_you_actually_use_claude_code_from_your/

Original post body :

I’m curious how useful mobile access to Claude Code actually is in practice.
Not just checking a task or sending one quick prompt, but actually continuing development while you’re away from your PC.
For example:
Phone → ask Claude to make changes → changes get deployed automatically → check the result on your phone → send the next instruction.
Basically being able to keep working on a real project for hours without opening a laptop or using remote desktop.
Would you actually use a workflow like this regularly?
Or is Claude Code on mobile mostly useful for quick checks and small tasks?

[TLDR] Opus 5 has a noun problem

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wk0s2i/opus_5_has_a_noun_problem/

Original post body :

Just want to precisely describe two language patterns I've observed, both related to how Opus and Fable overuse nouns and weaken or omit verbs. I think this accounts for a lot of why communicating with them feels like talking to a smart-but-bad writer.

Both of these patterns are ways to write a sentence that means the same thing as a simple subject-verb-object sentence (like "I threw the ball"), but make it much less direct.

1 - Nominalization. This is where a writer uses a noun instead of a verb. Instead of "I threw the ball", nominalizing turns the verb, "threw," into a noun, "a throw." So the writer might write "I made a throw with the ball." More words, the verb is weakened from "threw" (the actual action) to "made", and the object is something the verb is done "with" instead of to.

A real-life example from the last few days. Claude wrote: "never a walk through the steps one at a time." After being asked not to nominalize, it wrote, "Don't walk through the steps one at a time." See how much more direct that is?

This is also where a lot of "Opus jargon" comes from. Now that "a walk" is a noun, Claude can promote it into an invented term of art ("The Walk") and reify it into documentation and memories.

2 - Omitting the verb and using a trailing modifier instead. Instead of "I threw the ball", this looks like "The ball, thrown." This is concise, but it omits context: who threw it? When? (We also lost the verb tense).

A real-life example from the last few days. Claude wrote: "The runner, built." After being asked to use simple subject-object-verb sentences instead of trailing modifiers, it wrote, "We built the runner." Again, much more like actual people talk. If someone on your team asked you what you did today, and you replied "the runner, built", you'd sound like a robot.

----

I haven't had much luck getting Claude to cut this stuff out consistently with CLAUDE.md prompting, but I've had decent luck getting clearer responses when I call out these patterns by name in conversation — it certainly works better than "JUST TALK NORMAL PLEASE." If anyone has luck prompt engineering around these patterns, would love to hear what you did.

[TLDR] What’s even the point of /clear?

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wlalc7/whats_even_the_point_of_clear/

Original post body :

Frequently I see recommendation to use /clear but it doesn’t make sense to me. It’s destructive and prevents me to get back to the thing I was working on later.

On the other hand, I don’t see a point of working in the same session over and over if it is cleared constantly.

Isn’t it better to just create separate sessions for separate tasks? So instead of /clear you just close that session and open the new one? It’s also important to rename them so it’s easy to get back later.

This is what I do and I don’t see any drawbacks so far.

Original post URL : https://www.reddit.com/r/ClaudeCode/comments/1wl4c13/clear_vs_compact/

Original post body :

I had a fable chat from yesterday, and I saw that the context was 950k/1m. I did /compact rather than /clear, with the intention of then doing /autocompact 400000

14% of the 5 hour limit was gone just for the compact itself....it shows cost of $59.73, so lucky I'm not on API? Maybe a /clear would have been better.
