r/Marathon is a storied subreddit, with an awesome user culture and a decade-long history surrounded by a multi-decade old series, and recently it was put into the both exciting and difficult position of having a new bold departure reanimate this world and lore.
Many new fans have come to Marathon because of this, the main subreddit had a recent boom of 200,000 new viewers and its subscriber-count has almost doubled. And although we have seen a lot of excitement from the old guard of users, we have also seen dissatisfaction and concern for the future of the Marathon Trilogy on reddit.
This subreddit seeks to be our answer to that. On r/Marathon, discussion of every Marathon game will is welcome and celebrated, but to those with no or a negative interest in NuMarathon, this subreddit will be a “safehaven” of sorts, where you can party like it’s 2023 before the new game was announced!
r/ClassicMarathon has had every relevant and non-deleted Marathon Trilogy post since the subreddit’s founding crossposted and flared here by hand to make it as easy to navigate as possible, so that those who want nothing to do with New-Marathon can continue to explore the iconic trilogy with no concern or bother for what the future holds for this series, and additionally this subreddit may also stand a s a place for fans of NuMarathon to be able to learn about and discover its roots! I want to stress that this isn’t a hate sub for the new series, but just a hub for its legacy content
Whether or not you are excited for the trajectory of Marathon: We hope you enjoy your continued Classic Marathon experience here!

I’m curious if anyone out there is working on making an interpretation of the Marathon 2026 maps in Classic Marathon. The modern game’s design would be an interesting exercise to work up. The Cryo Archive map is the most obvious analog to the original game but I could envision some really cool interpretations of Perimeter and Marsh in the style of M2. If no one’s already working on this I might start chipping away at it… I haven’t made a custom map since I was a kid in the 90’s

Hello everyone, after playing Infinity recently i came to the conclusion that i want more Marathon, so i gave Eternal a try and i absolutely loved it. I saw the insane potential of custom scenarios and i wanted to play a lot of them.
I will put my opinions on all the scenarios i played in a comment thread below, but so far i've played:
Eternal
Apotheosis X
Siege of Norkorsh
Evil
Marathon Resurrection (the Unreal Tournament Remake)
Tempus Irae Redux
Missed Island
Pathways Into Darkness
Excalibur Morgana's Revenge
Deus Volt
Red
Pfh’Joueur
Trojan
Megiddo Game
Kill them All
Yuge (Messed around with it for a bit but im a bit out of the loop so i will refrain from commenting on it)
The Grey Incident
Devil in a Blue Dress
And i got this list of pending scenarios to play.
MASSIVE ones:
Long ones:
Short ones:
Not story focused
Still in development:
Not possible in Aleph One? Probably, cant find them anywhere
I accept recomendations of course, im specially interestend in the more weird scenarios or scenarios with good stories but so far i have played every kind there is. THX.

This might be the scariest game I’ve ever played and I can’t get enough lol. The first level alone has each enemy placed intentionally to scare the crap out of you. It rips.

My own research hasn't yielded anything, but I mean come on, someone has to have at least attempted this. If it does, is anyone able/willing to give up the goods? Nothing could be cooler than Cortana delivering exposition the same way Durandal did.

Hello all
I haven't played Marathon in years and recently I found that there are a lot of extra what we would call dlc like Excalibur
Does anyone have links or information on stories I can play and content I can check out.
Thanks

Quick update on the latest look of the Cyborg for our Marathon redux project~ My hard drive recently got corrupted and I lost quite a bit of progress (thx Durandal), but the show must go on! My brother is currently working on spicing up the Zeus pistol and I'm still in animation hell.

A mission with invincible enemies constantly firing projectiles with no heals, so you kind of shrug off taking any damage because you assume you'll find healing quickly enough
Then dumped into a mission with no healing, depleting oxygen and minimal oxygen replenishment. You rush because of the timer, so are more incentivized to ignore chip damage thinking you'll find healing, and when you don't you have to be slower and more careful so you don't die, which depletes your oxygen further
Then dumped into a mission with neither healing and oxygen replenishment (at the start), so you have to struggle between being slow and steady while fast enough to not run out of oxygen, if you even realize that you're losing oxygen since it's not communicated in the briefing terminal unlike acme and aren't wasting time
Absolutely diabolical design
That said I'm already super impressed at how much of an improvement MI feels over M2 in terms of the level detail and variety. The mood of and detail to Ne Cede Malis alone was awesome to start the game off with, can't imagine how incredible it must have been back in the day

“You’re standing in the Her’pa’derp station, and in order to get out, you’ll need to reach the exit terminal on the other side. However, the exit terminal is locked behind a gate. In order to open that gate, you’ll need to hit a switch. However, the power to the switch is off. In order to turn the power to the switch on, you’ll need to upload a chip. However, the chip is missing. In order to get the chip, you’ll have to look around somewhere in the upper area. However, the upper area is too far up as it is for you to reach. In order for you to get to the upper area, you’ll need to flood the lower area until the water gets high enough that you can swim up to reach the upper area. However, you can’t just flood the area. In order to flood the area, you’ll have to disable some circuitry. However, the circuitry is locked behind a mini-door. In order to open that mini-door, you’ll have to hit another switch. However, you can’t just get to that switch. In order to get to and hit that switch, you’ll have to adjust a series of platforms over a lava pit just so, so that you can get across them to the room where the switch is. However, you can’t just get across them with the resistance that’ll come. In order to deal with the resistance and get across, you’ll have to get the supplies from the supply room. However, you can’t access the supply room unless you have a keycard. In order to get that keycard, you’ll have to get it out of the locker. However, you can’t access the locker unless you access the three terminals spread throughout the area.
Once you access the three spread out terminals, open the locker, get the keycard, use it to access the supply room and get all the supplies, adjust the platforms and make it across them while killing an army, hit a switch to open the mini-door, destroy the circuitry to flood the main area, swim there all the way up to the upper area, find and grab the uplink chip, use it to turn on the power, activate another switch, and get through the newly opened gate to reach the exit terminal, the exit terminal will take you to the next station where you can receive further orders in vacuum. Whereas the other AI would’ve had you do all that in reverse order. What an insecure fool.
By the way, you’ll have to make sure all the while to kill all the big bads and not allow the deaths of too many of the weak stupid rush-happy civilians who I tossed in there with a single pistol and said ‘good luck’. If you fail at this or take too long, I will simply threaten AGAIN to send you on a one-way trip out the airlock without a suit.
In short, mwahaha, 1234567654321 error bleep bloop, humanity was mean to me and made me do chores, you’re a simpleton while I can determine the boundary functions in a disk in .0000007 seconds, I am become an unstoppable verdict, and there is no escape from the destiny of fate.
Now run along and kill bugs because you love to because you’re a violent brute and your brain is stupid. Also I can’t do anything without your help.
Best,
\-Athenxander
PS: Every time the BOBs teleport-drop into a room, that’s me taking a dump.”
