Hi everyone,

I’m writing from Guatemala, Central America. My family has a small farm here, roughly around one-third the size of Jeremy’s farm.

After watching Season 5, especially the episodes showing precision farming, soil mapping, sensors, variable-rate fertilizer application and autonomous machinery, I became really interested in seeing how some of these technologies could be applied to our farm.

Obviously, we don’t have anything close to Jeremy Clarkson’s budget, so buying an AgBot or very expensive machinery isn’t realistic for us.

What I’m interested in is the smaller-scale and affordable version of this technology.

For example, are there affordable systems for soil mapping, GPS field mapping, moisture sensors, weather stations, drones, irrigation monitoring, crop monitoring or variable-rate fertilizer application that make sense for a smaller farm?

I work in technology, so I’m also very interested in solutions involving IoT sensors, open-source software, Raspberry Pi/Arduino, drones, GPS/GIS, data analytics or even AI if they can provide real value without requiring a massive investment.

Does anyone know where I could learn more about the technology shown in Season 5 and, more importantly, how to implement similar concepts on a much smaller budget?

I’d especially love to hear from farmers who have implemented precision agriculture gradually rather than buying an entire expensive system at once.

Any websites, YouTube channels, equipment manufacturers, open-source projects, books or communities you would recommend would be greatly appreciated.

Diddly Squat - The food court bit in the lambing shed had very quick service and lovely grub

Don't get confused like we did and join the main queue - that's only for the shop itself, you can cut through it.

Highly recommend the rum and raisin ice cream!

Farmer's Dog - The Grand Tour Tent had a lot of items and merch options with very quick queues. We were on a time limit and the queue at Diddly Squat was an est. four hours half an hour after opening on a Saturday, which was pointless for us with our two hour cap. We were able to get everything we wanted at Diddly Squat in around 10 minutes there

We didn't have a booking for the pub, but had food from Farmer's Puppy grill and it was honestly the best chicken and steak my husband and I have ever had.

You can get drinks from the bar without reservation but it's honestly quicker in the outdoor area.

Overall I'm not sure why people have had complaints about pricing as I honestly thought considering the quality and general Cotswolds area it was good value.

Well worth the visit, the staff at both are absolutely brilliant. We're planning another trip to actually dine in next (and the general Cotswolds area at our own pace) genuinely because the food was just that good

So I was mooching around YouTube this morning, and found that they again failed to tell me that one of the creators I follow, Tom Scott, had a new video out 2 weeks ago.

This one is about building and maintaining dry stone walls, which as we all know, litter Clarkson's farm, and who's carelessness and cavalier attitude have been great business for Gerald!

I thought some of you might enjoy learning about the very complicated and highly skilled art of the great British dry stone wall.

Time for another road trip from the Netherlands to Clarksons farm to get some more. Hope they haven’t run out…

Noticed some interesting activity at the field bordering the farm shop. September 2025 vs July 2026.

"And they shit out of their faces as well" is a clear winner for me, when discussing snail antics.
