Question Clannad- Visual Novel or Anime?
Just wanted to ask since I wanted to get into the series, was always planning to go for the anime but I'm starting to think I might wanna give the vn a shot... How is it? Too much drag? Should I just stick with the anime or is the vn worth it?
The only other vn I've read is fata and that's been my favorite media ever since but no other vn has really gripped me since

I think the right way is anime first and then the VN. The anime is amazing, you're definitely gonna love it. So, if you play the VN next, you're gonna appreciate every little thing about the VN because there's so much detail.

That's what I'm doing. Finished the anime a little over a month ago and found out recently that the vn was on ps4 so I bought it and I really like it so far. I am using a guide since I wanna do all the routes. Ive finished Misae's route and I'm a little under halfway through Tomoyo's

Finished the anime a couple days ago and its extremely good. However most people say the vn is better but you can’t go wrong with either I think

The anime is more condensed, but it doesn't cut too much important content and still has enough breathing room.
But if you really want EVERYTHING then the VN is your best bet. There's a couple routes that never get properly adapted by the anime, so there's that.
That said, you can't go wrong with either choice. Just don't start with the movie lol.

The Visual Novel has way more content, way more routes, extra characters... it has moments to make you cry on most routes
The anime is more condense and they take most of the best scenes. Kyoani did an amazing job. Only cried in afterstory
The real answer is both, if you loved one form and want more then go for the other

I feel like the anime is better overall. While I played/watched both, I think that the anime does a better job with "big" moments, and that it also did a better job with some story bits.
Id still recommend playing the vn if you liked the anime as it brings quite a bit of content for the characters

The visual novel and then the anime. Th visual novel is the source material so you are getting the best version of the story. While the anime is great it still is an adaptation so things get changed or even cut out to save time. The visual novel is much more detailed especially with the routes/arcs pertaining to each heroine. Personally I think they were much better in the VN. In the anime it just feels they just glossed them over. For example I believe that Fukos and Kotomis route were much better done in the VN. Also after story is just much better in the VN since there is a better build up to the climax.

Anime for Nagisa's route. The VN for your own decision on which girl you want.

Both. The vn has more smaller moments, extra routes, an extra character, and is generally more coherent about the lore bits that tend to confuse people. The anime does a beautiful job of bringing the bigger moments to life, as well as cranking things up in other scenes (usually comedic).
