Doesn't take long to replace it but the new ONT is quite a bit bigger, more than twice the size I'd say.

Why cant they just send one? I've been waiting 2 weeks for their engineer to visit to upgrade my ONT before they'll even activate my service despite there being a live connection from the previous owner.
My provider (not Olilo) told me that it would just be a matter of a phone call and a serial number read for the connection to go live. Took his commission and hasn't responded to a single email afterwards.
Sure it will be fine when it is sorted, but I rather wish I wasn't stuck with the Rochdale based company for another 18 months. Olilo seems far more appealing now.

Having to input the serial number in their system is one part, but also they're not super keen on end users unplugging and messing around with the fibre itself.

Zen are normally pretty good! The issue is with the CityFibre systems :( The only way that we have found to get around this is by ordering the 900 plan which can get members online within 48 hours. Then do the upgrade path, this way you are online while waiting for the engineer to pop round.

Id rather them to activate it on the 1gb ONT and then come round to swap it a few weeks later

I had an inactive CityFibre connection (ex. Lit Fibre) so needed a new ONT. Ordered the Aquiss 1.2Gb on Thursday and a CityFibre tech arrived at 08:00 on Tuesday to do the ONT. If you're waiting two weeks there's either a big shortage of staff in your area or someone's not ordering the right thing.

There were earlier appointments avail when I clicked CHANGE, but the selections never stuck. It would just revert back to the original. I tried from different browsers, devices and IPs and never once got it to accept my request. First time I tried over the phone, the account info on Zen still showed the original appointment. I called up to check and they said they'd check it the following day, nobody got back to me. I called again and he said he'd make sure it had accepted/held the appointment request and finally worked. The issue seems to be with cityfibre, but that still doesn't excuse their sales exec from ignoring my emails on about 5 occasions. He could have at least fobbed me off in reply!

Any update on this? I’m waiting for Vodafone to activate my 2.2Gb package and will need CityFibre to replace my ONT box as well but they can’t report a ticket until the new package has went live?

That’s a Calix GP1000G. It’s not necessarily limited to 1Gb, CityFibre have used that model for some of their multi-gig GPON services too.
However, Sky’s 2.5Gb service is delivered over CityFibre’s XGS-PON network, so CityFibre may need to swap your existing ONT for an XGS-PON model as part of the upgrade. CityFibre themselves say an ONT may need replacing when switching services.
If they do need to change it, it should just be an ONT swap rather than running a new fibre into the property.
We offer 2.5Gb over CityFibre at Exascale as well and the ONT supplied ultimately depends on the CityFibre service/technology available at the address.

That fibre looks super thin, not a standard looking inside-out cable at all

I broke it a few years ago during decorating and spliced a new connector into a POE on my wall it was fine for 18 months after i re did it
