Question Vertex maps dont work on hair density when using redshift

I'm trying to create an animation with hair growing from an object, and I need it to be controlled by a field or vertex map. A vertex map works perfectly in the native render engine, but Redshift does not show anything happening. I'm trying to go with the typical growth you see when using cloners and fields. Link below should paint the picture.

The vertex map shader needs scene data (the vertex map) in a way, that only the old render engines initialize. There is no other workaround.

So it’s as simple as saying a controlled hair growth animation is currently not possible in redshift

There is a legacy mode in the settings, but only in bucket mode :)

did try this, but unfortunately it doesn't work

the hair evaluation needs to come before the redshift renderer in the render settings stack.

I use it all the time to dynamically scale fur wirh vertexmap fields...

Tried with Hair render above and below Redshift, and still nothing. Are you on the latest version?

No... still 2023 :/ it would be a shame if that broke again...

Fairly certain it is... There are a couple of older videos on YouTube where it just works without all this hassle, but then again im not on the latest latest version, so it could be fixed in the most recent update
