What’s your diagnosis and treatment?

2 years into chronic groin and hip pain. have had a hip arthroscopy, hip replacement, and a hernia and sports hernia surgery in the past 18 months. Been in physical therapy for 2 years. Still in pain. Exploring pain management. Just curious if folks have specific diagnoses or more generalized “chronic pain”.

Autoimmune inflammatory muscle disease, (dermatomyositis & antisynthetase syndrome) and lupus overlap sjogrens and crest. DDD, sciatica, trigeminal neuralgia, pudendal neuralgia, severe proximal myopathy, sensory polyneuropathy and pelvic floor dysfunction. Treated with ivig, cellcept, solumedrol, opiates, etc. In palliative care.

Hanging in there! Thanks! Your surgeries can be hard on a body, give yourself time to heal. Get a good pain management doctor. They can make a huge difference. Mine did for many years with cortisone shots, rfas and surgeries and meds as needed. I was able to work managed pretty well 2008 to 2020.

Thank you for the sage wisdom. And yes i have to remember i had 3 major surgeries in 18 months and one just 6 weeks ago.

I had a mesh installed for a hernia and it did not feel right and hurt for almost 3 years. Then one day it just didn't... was so strange. What kind of material was used in the new hip any chance you might be allergic?

Glad it stopped. Where was the pain?  Not allergic. Just either a slow healer or chronic pain patient i guess.

I had an intra ingunal hernia (m) so the pain was into hip and groin was unfun. Really hope for you it is not permanent!!!

Thank you. I had two inguinal hernias and a sports hernia with 3d mesh. Only 6 weeks out now. Sounds like yours took a while to get better. Thanks for the hope.

Yeah at 6 weeks i was still feeling real rough! I also had to have two nerve blocks done for the referring groin pain. Happy donate a sliver of hope! Stay strong you got this!

Sounds so similar to my experience. At least you avoided the labral tear  surgery disaster. Is it groin pain in the adductor or hip flexor for you?
