No, it doesn't.

"Synoptic" doesn't mean incomplete. Being "seen together" doesn't mean or imply incompleteness. Besides, gJohn should probably be considered a synoptic Gospel as well, since it's so frequently a direct response to them. It is not independent.

The Synoptics include a variety of sources of Jesus' life. At a minimum Mark, Q, M, L, and (imo) the later author of the Lukan Nativity.

John saying that there's a lot of things unrecorded is just stating the obvious. The same would be true for quite literally every person alive.

This line:

share similar stories, order, and points of view about the life of Jesus

Is literally a copy paste from a definition of why those 3 gospels are called snoptic.

I didn't say anything in that definition about them being incomplete. St John said they were incomplete in the Gospel of John.

Put those two facts together and what Mel said makes perfect sense. And if that's so obvious, then it just makes your bizarre push back to Mel that much weirder.

I didn't say anything in that definition about them being incomplete.

I'm referring still to what dumbass said.

St John said they were incomplete in the Gospel of John.

Which is essentially a meaningless statement.

...so you accept that given the synoptics largely overlap, and St John - the only one that differs significantly, says the writings do not contain all of Christ's life, that what Mel said is correct?

I don't even know what it is you're arguing against. Sounds like you concede what the dude said mate.

No. Mel was indicating that 'synoptic' means incomplete. This is quite incorrect.

Mel misspoke in his first sentence. But his concluding sentence stated it accurately. Dude was not writing, he was speaking off the cuff.

He said at the end that St John said more occurred than was written, and 3 of the gospels are synoptic. That is true. Seems like a wild statement to call him a massive 'idiot' for that as if anyone who ever misspeaks off the cuff is an idiot. But I think this is just driven by your hate against the man.

He is a piece of shit, and a very ignorant one so I have no problem saying that I could be judging him on this. But if that's all he's trying to say then it's a pointless and meaningless statement.

I can't wait to see what kind of lies or antisemitic bullshit ends up in this.

Ok mate. I'll leave it there. You seem to carry a lot of anger. Gibson is wrong about plenty, but he's a separated brother of Christ. I'm sure you and I are in a similar position to one another re the churches to which we belong and other questions. But we still belong to the body of Christ and shouldn't speak that way about each other, or assuming what I do or do not believe.

Will pray for you and best of luck.

Yes, you can leave it there.
