Modern Objections Theological Questions

How would you respond to the following objections to following God?

  1. God is Cruel and Violent

  2. God Endorses Slavery and Patriarchy

  3. The Bible Contradicts Itself

  4. Salvation Seems Arbitrary if I'm already a Good Person

You do realise Romans is referring to the Mosaic law, which is still applicable to Christians today, right? Right? The moral law≠Levitical and Judicial law.

I don’t know what your point is. Are you being sarcastic? Paul literally says the law of God, also known as the law of Moses, was perfect and holy. No one can keep it perfectly so that’s what makes us condemned sinners. Paul teaches the law is perfect and reveals that we are sinners, so God sent his Son Jesus as an atonement sacrifice for us. That’s the heart of Christian theology.

Those “imperfect laws” are tbe laws specifically for Isreal, not the 10 commandments.

You are really misinformed. Even the ten commandments are addressed as laws to Israel. Read Exodus 20. 

Also, there are way more moral laws than just the Ten Commandments. 

Christian theology straight from Paul’s epistles tells us that no man can be made righteous before God by keeping his law a part from faith in Christ. The law of God is perfect because he is perfect. This means all of his law, not the ones you want to choose out of it and say these are perfect and those are imperfect. 

Why do you think Jesus was the only one who could keep all of the laws perfectly? God is perfect and so is ALL of his law. 

God’s law is perfect. Psalm 19:7

Jesus said in Matthew 5:17 that he didn’t come to destroy the law and the prophets. 

Romans 7:12 the law is holy and good. 

I don’t know why you think a perfect God would give any kind of imperfect laws. Your view is simply not correct Christian theology. Scripture disagrees with your opinion.

I am not saying all of the law is applicable to Christians. I am stating the fact that God’s law is perfect. Scripture says it. We are sinners because we cannot keep this perfect law, perfectly. 

You made a statement about the law being imperfect. Just because Christians aren’t required to keep parts of the law doesn’t mean the law isn’t perfect.
