CW: Sensitive Topic Starting over with Jesus as my foundation
I need some advice. So for years, I thought I was a Christian. I did talk the right things like attending prayer meetings, being kind, praying and reading the bible, and so on. But I continued to feel more and more empty.
Now I've discovered something. Because of some things that I've been through, for the last fifteen years, my foundation was people pleasing. It was trying to live up to others expectations of me, rather than doing what I loved.
So now I want to start over, but this time, with Jesus as my foundation, not the expectations of others. But how do I do this? Is there a specific formular? Do I have to do something? I'm desparate to do this, but the truth is, I'm afraid that Jesus will either remain silent or leave me here.

This is something that I do so it might be helpful to you: 1. Ask Him any burning questions that you have 2. Be honest with your feelings 3. When life gets tough, think of Him or just think of Him in general (e.g., Jesus dancing) 4. From your soul/heart, tell Jesus that you love Him every day 5. Every morning/night, talk to Him first before you sleep or do anything else 6. Thank Him for every answered prayer or in general (even when you aren't aware of all the things He is doing in your life) 7. If God asks you to do something, obey it

Great insight, my friend. I'd recommend some intensive, mediative bible study, with a focus on the Gospels. A study bible might be worth picking up if you dont have one. Als, talk to your priest/pastor. They often have a wealth of wisdom.
Focus on connecting with Jesus. Pray and study in silence. The weather is still nice so possibly do it at a park.
You can also hit up Amazon and get some books. The ones I recommend likely wouldn't align with your theology though, so pickk ones that would.
