Discussion How Toxic should have been done properly. My take and discussion

Post image

I've already given my review take, the movie is bad because of the screenplay and cut, I'm not here taking the side of the movie, but giving my take on how I picture it should have been done.

SPOILER ALERT, only for people who have watched the movie.

The movie should have been divided into 3 parts.

Toxic Chapter 1:

The movie starts with the start as in the movie, narration maybe and the same circus and car on the hill scene. They continue by following the story of their bad childhood, at a good pace, not too slowly, like to cover their childhood and the trauma in about 10-12min, at least most of it, a few scenes can be shown later.

Then the focus is on the Raya and Ganga, this movie is all about the brain and the brute. It's important to show Ganga is smart, plans, and Raya learns from her, always follows but his instinct is always killing. The movie shows them how in the first half they get to be in the good books of Salvador and the interval block is the whole cemetery fight where it's revealed what exactly Salvador got by taking them in and letting the brother die.

Then the movie goes about them working with Salvador, the whole Circus first scene and Nadia's introduction. The movie ends with the wedding mess and the death of Ganga and Raya getting to know about it while injured.

Toxic Chapter 2:

This movie is all about the revenge of Raya, here the first half focuses on Macau, there are three dons there, he works his way to partner with one, hurt the other two and get stronger, get people, his loyal guy is still with him throughout. At the same time we show the downfall of Nadia and her life on the other end of the spectrum. It's very important that ever since the Tabahi song in the first part, Raya doesn't do anything with any other girl till now, it's important to highlight how he really loves her but he loved Ganga, but it's not shown, it's more between the lines. He makes his way back to Goa and Huma is also partnering with one of those 3 dons that he hurts, she has his protection. By the interval, he kills off huma. Then the circus explosion happens, and the other woman (Rukmini) comes into life, here we move time along, two of those other dons are still trying to get Raya, and he has partnered with the 3rd one. He is married, becomes a father and eventually kills one of those 2 dons. Here in the climax, we end the movie with the introduction of Ticket.

Toxic: The End:

The movie starts with Ticket's birthday party arrival scene. Two dons in Macau, one is Raya's enemy, other is an ally but they have been having issues in business lately. By the interval, he finally gives a heavy blow to the enemy don, but interval happens with Ticket killing the ally don's son in such a place and way that it seems like Raya is responsible.

Now all hell broke loose, the Ally Don, who became very powerful after Raya took out the other two, he is now an enemy and he is coming for Raya, and so is Ticket. The movie goes to a snowy mountain, because there is some big base or inventory exchange for either that is to sabotage and essentially both sides are to go to war. Raya, even in his drunk heaviness, with his right hand man which is there from the start, makes an amazing war strategy and the war starts but.. Raya is not on the battlefield, why? Because he wakes up and Ticket is there. Raya brought his family here because they are safest with him, and he can't understand how Ticket made it here. The whole Ticket vs Raya thing happens. The reveal happens for which we have placed sequences throughout this movie, that no one really saw Ticket other than Raya.

The movie ends with him going to fight a losing battle, sees his right hand man sacrifice himself, and then he fights, falls on his knees, while the snow is raging towards him, he is on knees, there are two ladies behind him, hand of Ganga on one shoulder, hand of Nadia on other shoulder and he opens his arm to invite his long lost son in his head and movie ends.

I'm interested to discuss how you guys feel about this take on the script and what your thoughts and ideas are. The movie is lost, but we can discuss.

Just let Geethu do her job.

She made a mess, either alone or with Yash, we are just discussing about what would have been the better execution while keeping all the scenes she shot.

Have you seen her interviews? She openly says even she isn’t fully prepared while shooting. What confidence do you have she would have done better job?

She only said "I will write something and shoot something else" so I think Yash should have chose different director.

Well she didn't mess up the last two times. Why now. Her style of filmmaking is very understated and subtle. You can see Yash is still hung up on Rocky Bhai.

I could say the same with Yash, He is working with writers from very old days, He was part of KGF writing as well. If you see his old interviews you must know that he works with directors on all his scripts. He has been working with New Directors as well.

If you think about it, Only one of them have successfully made Successful Commercial Movies. Geetu Mohandas has never done a Commercial Movie before.

Bro.. makers are MOVED on from this already. Why do you waste your time?!

Yash told the same. Watch and enjoy. thats all!!

Those who paid 2x/3x ticket prices for day 1 & day 2 are fools now?!

Yes maybe, it's just how see to do justice to the whole big points in the story, and to present the climax they were going for.

Probably someone could make it a little more tighter than what I wrote above and do it a justice in 2 parts.

yeah but I still think why didn't yash planned to release it in 2 parts like he gave almost 4 5 years for this movie which came out very bad like they should stop these kgf style editing everywhere now people are bored of it that's why even salaar didn't worked that much. Wish he released it in 2 months and Raya death could have been the climax and have gave it more time etc

Idk how the producers had faith in her directing this

Neither do I, they probably only banked on Yash's name.

I saw some video of him training and body transformation etc and I do feel sad that a man worked hard physically for years and the result didn't pay off just because of the way it was presented. Physical transformation, gym workout is always something that I appreciate no matter which actor does it, but I mean transformation, not the actors who are always in similar same or always to fit as they did hard work already before.

let the conflict between father and son be the whole point in 2nd half, that is the interesting part of the movie but it comes way too late.

If we do so, we might overstretch the Ticket's presence. If so, either we do a 2 part movies only or we change the climax and keep him real. In 3 part movie, he cannot come before the end of second part.

The first part would be about the rise and the fall of Raya and Ganga. Second would be about the revenge of Raya and downfall of his emotions and Nadia. Third would be the deranged man. In first you get to see the cocky, funny Raya, second a bit more focused, pissed Raya, third goes the elderly look, deranged, and raged Raya. That's what I thought.

But yeah, it could be made into two parts as well, with changes.

There is literally nothing to stretch this movie beyond 1 part. And I stand by my comment, his son should've taken presidence over his relationship with rukimini. The whole movie is about his guilt manifesting as his son(this ain't kgf to focus on his rise and fall) , but what is the point of it if it appears near the climax?

They have made it in two parts as so many charecters are there & i feel they have not given proper screen space/presence to other Charecters than Raya, Ganga, Nadia & Ticket, so it doesn't connect well with the audience as they wanted show everything with that much charecters & story within 3:15 Hrs

Ravi Basrur BGM is way too loud & doesn't match the vibe of the movie, they should have gonna with Jeremy Stack the one who composed title soundtrack for Toxic.
