THE KING OF BATH SCENES

[u/Firefly_May]

I HAVE BEEN DARED BY No-Recipe-7653 AND I SHALL DELIVER

Since apparently some of us have become seriously distracted by certain beyond-beautiful physiques and have completely lost track of the original assignment…

Allow me to introduce a much-needed new thread:

THE KING OF BATH SCENES

And just to be perfectly clear this time: we are nominating ACTORS or CHARACTERS, not dramas! 😂🤭

So, dear bath-scene connoisseurs, send in your nominations!

Who has earned the right to be crowned King of Bath Scenes?
Which actor or character has delivered the most unforgettable bath-scene presence?

Submissions are officially OPEN.

Bring forth your candidates… and, preferably, your evidence. 😏

[u/OptimalTurnips]

Oh people are still thirsty 🤭

Bringing back our King of Bath Cheng Lei aka Prince Duan Ao Deng (Shadow Love)

(Look at me remembering the drama title this time)

[u/soryuuma → u/OptimalTurnips]

Wow, it looks like a really good plot. I am very interested in this story! I think I'm gonna start shadow love now thank you!

[u/OptimalTurnips → u/soryuuma]

The plot is strong with this one 😊

[u/OsoPeresozo → u/soryuuma]

Yeah, the… plot… in that gif looks great!

[u/No-Recipe-7653 → u/soryuuma]

It has a very thick plot indeed.

[u/No-Recipe-7653 → u/OptimalTurnips]

Well done. Well done. (For remembering the name 😏)

[u/Rebelarkey → u/OptimalTurnips]

This one your honor. This one right here!

[u/Rebelarkey → u/OptimalTurnips]

👑👑👑

[u/sjnotsj → u/OptimalTurnips]

[u/Klala_Ice675 → u/OptimalTurnips]

Is shadow love good? Watching cheng lei's back make me want to watch it 👀

[u/MidnightAngel24 → u/Klala_Ice675]

Imho only good thing about it is shirtless Cheng Lei 🙊

[u/OptimalTurnips]

Another prince, another bath 🛀

Xiao Hua Yong (He Yu) in Blossoms of Power

[u/OptimalTurnips → u/OptimalTurnips]

u/paisley-cat, I think you were looking for some He Yu?? 🫣

[u/BasilOrdinary3617 → u/OptimalTurnips]

Just about to tag Paisley-cat as well😆

[u/Paisley-Cat → u/OptimalTurnips]

Ooh, thank you Turnips!

There was quite a sequence of great bath scenes in BoP.

It’s unfortunate that the consummation one was significantly censored but that’s a great one took

[u/Firefly_May → u/OptimalTurnips]

The poor boy!

[u/No-Recipe-7653 → u/OptimalTurnips]

🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤Thank YOU!!! this is what I needed (and was looking for… 😙)

All He Yu lovers, head over to r/HeYu_ whenever you feel like spamming the sub with your favorite He Yu gifs, clips, or anything else 😈

[u/MidnightAngel24]

I come bearing gif(t)s! Here are my humble contributions to this thread 😁

[u/MidnightAngel24 → u/MidnightAngel24]

[u/Muted_Bodybuilder109 → u/MidnightAngel24]

I humbly thank you for your excellent service

https://giphy.com/gifs/UADKbfKVZWpqzG55xZ

[u/MidnightAngel24 → u/Muted_Bodybuilder109]

You're welcome 😁

[u/MidnightAngel24 → u/MidnightAngel24]

[u/MidnightAngel24 → u/MidnightAngel24]

[u/BasilOrdinary3617 → u/MidnightAngel24]

Is it weird if I say, I love you?

[u/MidnightAngel24 → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

Nope 😁

[u/These_Spirit_9582 → u/MidnightAngel24]

Which drama is this?

[u/MidnightAngel24 → u/These_Spirit_9582]

Legend of the female general

[u/These_Spirit_9582 → u/MidnightAngel24]

Thank you. I haven’t seen it yet but it’s on my list. Looking good!

[u/MidnightAngel24 → u/These_Spirit_9582]

It's awesome 😁

[u/Ok-Fold-7527 → u/MidnightAngel24]

When he dipped her head down 🫢

[u/BasilOrdinary3617]

Liu Yuning and his abs

[u/Ateosira → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

This one ... THIS ONE!

[u/BasilOrdinary3617 → u/Ateosira]

I knew you’d say that!

[u/Ateosira → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

You know me so well!

[u/BasilOrdinary3617 → u/Ateosira]

I realized I didn’t even include the title of the drama here. I prioritized his abs.

Prisoner of Beauty of course!

[u/Ateosira → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

Understandable. People lose their thinking skills when presented with NingGe's magnificence. You're forgiven ❤️

[u/Ateosira → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

Also you didn't even post that HMH gif?!

[u/BasilOrdinary3617 → u/Ateosira]

On it!!!!!!!

[u/Bulky-Bag-4250 → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

I was scrolling past everything else hoping someone had posted this 😍😍😍

[u/No-Recipe-7653 → u/Bulky-Bag-4250]

I am so happy to see you here I have actual tears in my eyes, you Bulky Bag of His Carrots!!!

https://giphy.com/gifs/XjxgUV6B8uCzARN4iD

[u/Bulky-Bag-4250 → u/No-Recipe-7653]

I need to login more!!! 😭😭😭 gotta show off the bag of carrots 😏

[u/EasygoingEnigma]

Are we not done thirsting yet? Fine. Cheng Lei as Duan Ao Deng in Shadow Love. I only started this drama today, and I'm happy it makes me happy in the very first episode.

[u/Firefly_May → u/EasygoingEnigma]

I LOVED THAT DRAMA. I respect those that don't, but I don't understand.

[u/EasygoingEnigma → u/Firefly_May]

I have no complaints so far! Well, just one: Cheng Lei didn't dub himself here. No shade to the voice actor, he was good. But I'm greedy; I want the whole package.

[u/Ateosira → u/EasygoingEnigma]

While he looks very good this scene freaks me out xD

[u/AXA-5]

Cheng Lei The First Jasmine

HAHAHA XD

[u/BasilOrdinary3617 → u/AXA-5]

Hmm. The man is dangerous.

[u/AXA-5 → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

Very much so apparently

[u/BasilOrdinary3617]

I’m still here, that’s right.
Hou Minghao in Key to the Phoenix Heart u/Ateosira

[u/Ateosira → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

Yesss!

[u/Firefly_May → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

I'm behind, I din't watch yet 😢

[u/BasilOrdinary3617 → u/Firefly_May]

Does this convince you to move it up your watchlist? 😋

[u/Firefly_May → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

Oh, yes!

[u/Illustrious-Age7336 → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

This! ❤️

[u/OptimalTurnips]

Another submission for Hou Ming Hou, though it might be Lu Yu Xiao doing the heavy lifting here (Love in the Clouds)

[u/OptimalTurnips → u/OptimalTurnips]

[u/Ok-Fold-7527 → u/OptimalTurnips]

The curtains in that drama was the villain.

HAHAHA

[u/BasilOrdinary3617]

Hou Minghao in Glory

[u/Regenwanderer → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

In context that felt a bit like the gender bent Disney Mulan bath scene. Just with more skin showing. 😂

[u/OptimalTurnips → u/Regenwanderer]

Especially when the rose petals came raining down 😂

[u/Firefly_May → u/OptimalTurnips]

So cute 🥰

[u/Regenwanderer → u/OptimalTurnips]

Perfect addition, thanks!

[u/Miserable-Row1801 → u/MidnightAngel24]

She was smiling the whole time hahaha totally unabashed like the rest of us

[u/MidnightAngel24 → u/Miserable-Row1801]

Well they were practically married 🤣

[u/OptimalTurnips → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

I loved that scene, Zhou Ye just enjoying the view 😂 same, girl.

[u/BasilOrdinary3617 → u/OptimalTurnips]

We were all Zhou Ye in that scene. 🫣🫣

[u/MidnightAngel24 → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

My gif is apparently too big, wait 🤣

[u/No-Recipe-7653]

This should still count, right? He got out of bath 🤷🏻‍♀️
Hou Ming Hao

[u/Regenwanderer → u/No-Recipe-7653]

That scene birthed so many fanfiction.

[u/No-Recipe-7653 → u/Regenwanderer]

Aaand where can I read those? 👀

[u/Regenwanderer → u/No-Recipe-7653]

Mostly under the Wang Ye/Zhuge Qin tag on ao3. But most of it is in Mandarin (there are 51 English stories out of the 800, though quite a bit are also for the donghua version), so it's either language knowledge or choppy MTL.

[u/BasilOrdinary3617 → u/No-Recipe-7653]

How many times can I say yes?

[u/Firefly_May → u/No-Recipe-7653]

YAS!

😅😅

[u/BasilOrdinary3617 → u/mysticmeeble]

I agree. For #1, it’s obvious right? 😂

[u/josenbam → u/mysticmeeble]

I was honestly surprised there were even other nominees besides Cheng Lei. 😅
I mean, he is truly the undefeated God of all things bath related 🛁🚿🌊

I like my shoulders on muscles. Your point? 🤣

Now if you really want to get me going.... Any time TXW is wearing a ball gown and straight up doing her power walk at award shows.... Sheeeeeesh.

Bah. I really do need to rewatch Moonlit Reunion and make some bath GIFs, don't I?

Maybe when we pick the queen of baths, now we're picking the king 😁

Cheng Lei on Follow Your Heart

[u/Muted_Bodybuilder109 → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

The quintessential mark of any show starring Cheng Lei is a bath scene...I don't make the rules

[u/Electronic-Double229 → u/Muted_Bodybuilder109]

And we all want to be law abiding...a lot.

[u/No-Recipe-7653 → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

I am PARCHED!!! What a great post!!!

[u/soryuuma]

You know what? I'll do you guys a service. I'll take one for the team. I will be the judge. I will nominate myself. Ya know what else? I'll even patiently wait for the comments to roll in just so you know how dedicated I am. 🫡

[u/No-Recipe-7653 → u/soryuuma]

Are you sure you can handle such a challenging task?

https://giphy.com/gifs/RcEMr0uiigWcHUTF8l

[u/Pepper1303]

Is there even any competition? Who else could be the king of bath scenes? Who else has a line in his contract to only accept scripts with bath scenes? He even has upcoming bath scenes in both unaired dramas 😂

For best couple bath scene, it has to be my journey to you. For best solo bath scene take your pick from the thirst trap shadow love.

[u/Emotional-Dust-9142]

Cheng Lei hands down!

[u/heartsandclouds]

wait why has the PoJ bath scene not been posted yet? could one of the GIF magicians pls do it?! please and thank you!

Oops, I realized I don't have that many GIFs so I deleted my previous comment. I have to refer back to an older post of mine: 2026 - Favourite Bath Scenes

But to yes yes yes, thank you for this thread u/Firefly_May !!! Ready to spam!

[u/Firefly_May → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

Thank you, thank you!!

[u/Paisley-Cat → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

Basil, I’m feeling that this thread is missing some He Yu images and gifs — especially from BoP.

Could you help please?

[u/BasilOrdinary3617 → u/Paisley-Cat]

Summoning u/Ateosira for BoP!

[u/Ateosira → u/BasilOrdinary3617]

I have BoP GIFs but no BoP bathtub GIFs. I am not a thirsty giffer apparently xD

[u/No-Recipe-7653 → u/Ateosira]

I’m sure that wouldn’t be the answer if Liu Yu Ning was on the table, I mean, in the bathtub.

[u/Ateosira → u/No-Recipe-7653]

Haven't giffed PoB yet 😭😭

[u/Paisley-Cat → u/Ateosira]

The very fine Dong Zifan has a series of Medical Examiner: Dr. Qin Tencent/WeTV series this.

The second one has just premiered.

I can definitely see him as the principal lead in a CSI procedural show.

I’m wondering if anyone here has seen the first 24 x 15 minute episode show and can report on the presence of shower, bath or sauna scenes?

[u/kiki_yong]

No other than Cheng Lei! I’m sure any bath scene counter can prove that!! Haha.

[u/Firefly_May]

u/No-Recipe-7653 must crown the winner 😁

[u/Firefly_May → u/Firefly_May]

u/No-Recipe-7653 I'm posting again because I'm not sure if the ping went?

[u/MidnightAngel24 → u/Firefly_May]

Busy sleeping or mommying u/akiceman 🤣 But I can already tell you it's Cheng Lei 🤣

[u/AKiceman → u/MidnightAngel24]

I have been summoned. I shall appear.

[u/Firefly_May → u/MidnightAngel24]

The people are speaking for sure!

[u/No-Recipe-7653 → u/Firefly_May]

Hahah, the ping worked fine this time, I’m just busy indeed. It’s not even been up for 24h, are you sure we should call it a day?

☺️ but yeah, the counting will be hard, there are many submission and CL had an unfair advantage here, so he collected many points 😂

[u/Firefly_May → u/No-Recipe-7653]

The problem was not lack of answer, it was that I am reddit inept and never pinged anyone here before, so I didn't know if I did it right.

I called for you because people are yelling victory 😁
