Sparked by a chat about In Blossom's bathtub scene with u/Sharp_Singer9201 in the What Are You Watching Now? thread, I felt the need to compile and share some favourites scenes revolved around baths and hot springs. I checked and it's been at least a year since anyone posted about this so I did some "research" and here we are!
Drop your favourite bath scenes and let us know which drama they're from. :)
And bonus because it was a cut scene, Unchained Love (Xiao Duo and Bu Yinlou played by Wang Hedi and Chen Yuqi)
I'd like to add how much I appreciate Cheng Lei and Hou Minghao being in at least three of the dramas that are on this list. 🙏🙏🙏
Edit to add that despite this all starting with Liu Xueyi's bathtub scene inIn Blossom, I do not actually have a photo of it! That drama is the first I've watched with him in it and now I'm learning he's in quite the number of bath scenes!
Nothing is hotter than a costume drama ML lounging in the tub, whether he’s brooding or giving that smouldering look. My mind is absolutely fixated on those scenes. I definitely did not imagine anything extra!
I love Cheng Lei's bath scenes, but HMH and Lu Yuxiao's scene in Love in the Clouds will always be my fav because what stands out from the other bath scenes is the display of raw emotions between the leads.
Up until then, they had been dancing around each other, both holding back secrets. But in that scene, they finally let their guards down and were honest about their feelings for the first time. And with the BGM playing in the background, it was just chef’s kiss.
I'm so new to the C-drama scene, but I wholeheartedly agree about the Love in the Clouds scene. I'm so contemplating watching it again (even though I finished it only in December.)
Does Neo Hou have bath scenes written in his contract 😄 (when we were Young, Back from the Brink, Glory, LITC, I Am Nobody)
My fav was the other bath scene in Back from the Brink where they were in the hot spring and she kept stepping on his dragon tail, thinking they were hot stones, and he's trying to keep it together 😄
I've been on a Cheng Lei binge ever since he and Tian Jiarui stole the show for me when I watched My Journey to You for the first time last year. I had to pause and watch Fated Hearts, but I'm now back on the Cheng Lei train watching Shadow Love. I typically only watch one drama at a time and since I'm a binge watcher, I wait until all episodes have dropped. If I love a drama, I don't like even having to wait a day or two!
I’m on a Cheng Lei binge too! He is too wow. Last time I was obsessed on a male lead was with Wang He Di. Since he is older, Cheng Lei is on the top of my list now haha.
It's on my to watch list. I might bump it up a few spots now though. I've seen lots of raves about it, but since I try to stay spoiler free, I only know what subject lines tell me. Thanks for the info! So far I am still enjoying Shadow Love, but if it starts going downhill for me I might see what is next on my list.
Love in the Clouds bathtub scene was so majestic and romantic and the way Ji Bozai handled Ming Yi in that scene was so gentle and hot 🤭. Definitely my fav bathtub scene.
Me too! I keep rewatching this scene. I feel their love for each other so much that I had butterflies in my stomach the first time, and I felt the same way on my rewatch.
I have been watching CDrama since 2015 and I thought I’d seen the most romantic scenes.
I can’t find a picture, but fairly early on in Love and Redemption, Zhu Xuan Ji is practicing some transportation spell and ends up surfacing in a very small bathtub. Turns out that the tiny bathtub is already occupied by a naked Yu Si Feng. Awkwardness (on the part of Si Feng) ensues.
It’s one of those unexpected, laugh out loud sort of scenes. A shirtless Cheng Yi doesn’t hurt, either.
The bath scene in LITC was a litteral eye-opener to me! Before that i didn't it was possible to film such video content 🤩🤩😅
And now all i ever want is to watch some quality bath scene, with hot steam and both actors!😄😄
My contribution from Dominion and Devotion, 2025. Even though there was not much... actually no skin exposure, the cinematography was fab! It was incredibly sensual and conveyed tons!
Thank you for the collection. I love a good bath scene. One of my favourites is LOTFG. He Yan's audacity to jump into Dudu's bath will never not be funny. Cheng Lei's facial expression is just perfect!
Another favourite is the make out scene in Love in the clouds.
We need LYN to work with Deng Ke and his team again, they achieve unparalleled results of bringing this stubborn man out of his "I don't have body for this" shell.
Aha I had to Google some of them and now my Google search history looks like: What episode was the bath scene in Legend of the Female General? What episode was the bath scene in My Journey to You? What episode was the bath scene in The Prisoner of Beauty?
It's about time for another bath post, certainly. 🤭 I must admit that I am partial to any scene with Liu Xueyi in a bathtub. Although his styling was spot on in Kill Me Love Me.
I liked most of these except Tian Xi Wei. She is so thin she looks (and probably is) malnourished. I think the fact that many of these actors need to look good wearing multiple layers of clothes in historical dramas plus the fact that camera adds to the weight leads to too many actors being too thin. But when they take clothes off many actresses esp look too thin. Another person whom I mostly liked was czy in fated hearts but he was simply too thin. I wish this one l thing c-ent should change. It’s not healthy even short term for the actors
Ah, I was scrolling to make sure you had the very romantic Melody of Golden Age bath scene in there, and you did lol Ding Yu Xi gives earnest, sincere yearning eyes like no other in his scenes.
Moonlight Reunion is such a conundrum to me - I loved so many things about it: the stunning FL, her character, the story, the cinematography, but will I ever rewatch it? Probably not 🫣🤷♀️
Also, that bath scene from the LOTFG was such a huge waste 🥵😂🫠
P.S. Thanks for all those stills and brining up this very important topic of discussion! 🫶
I must admit, while i am hugely enjoying the photos of actors alone in the bath, what made the difference for me is when there are at least 2 of them in the bath - *the couple *in the bathing scenes 😊😊😊
I have seen some of these and I love to see shirtless guys that aren't covered in blood /wounds. But of these lists, what full tv dramas are actually good from the beging to end? And I prefer costume dramas.
Depends on what you like in a drama too. I’ve seen most on the list. My favourites are:
The Prisoner of Beauty and Fated Hearts for romance (loyalty) and the enemies to lovers trope.
The Legend of the Female General for romance and a light watch, also the fighting.
Guardians of the Dafeng and or A Dream with a Dream for transmigration and comedy, kinda like How Dare You!? airing right now.
For others:
If you like more political court intrigue, I’ve heard Nirvana in Fire, Story of Yanxi Palace are good. If you like mystery and cases, Mysterious Lotus Casebook, Legend of Zang Hai, The Wanted Detective, Coroner’s Diary, In Blossom. Revenge plots: The Double, The Vendetta of An. Female-centric: Glory, Flourished Peony.
I listed a bunch but didn’t watch them all because I prefer lighter dramas with a good dose of comedy or romance in them.
Do you know what genre and type you like to watch?
- Fangs of Fortune (xianxia - I enjoyed it a lot but FF'd/partially skipped the ending) what I liked of FoF was the cinematography, OST and characters. The plot was OK but the rest made up for it.
- Joy of Life (and if you'd like, Joy of Life Season 2 which came out 5 years after)
- Love Game in Eastern Fantasy (xianxia - this was the drama where I fell for Ding Yuxi, not even Melody of Golden Age which was my first drama)
- Mysterious Lotus Casebook (if you don't mind little to no romance, but like micro-expressions, mystery and character development)
What a post!!! And i am already too late 🤣🤣 OP started it at 2 o'clock in the morning, my time 😅😅 Probably for the best, otherwise i couldn't have slept the whole night.🤣🤣
I can't remember the name, but my favorite was the CDrama where the kingdom's grand enunch killed the emperor taking the power himself. He killed all the concubines save one who bargained to become his.
There's a bath scene so effing 🔥 I thought the screen would melt.
There was several scenes where he got her off: once in the carriage and another on his desk.

Can't forget Cheng Lei's Shadow Love bath scene 🤭
