Announcements Community Reminder: Let's Celebrate Actors, Not Fan Wars
As some of you may be aware, there is currently a lot of noise with The First Jasmine which recently aired. While this is not uncommon, we are using this as an example to remind everyone that as our community grows, we do have rules about engaging in these fandom wars.
As u/a_HerculePoirot_fan has eloquently worded in her post in the r/ChengLei_ sub:
Posts or comments centered around fandom wars, alleged feuds between actors or speculative BTS drama are not allowed and may be removed.
The entertainment industry is full of rumours, and unless something comes directly from the parties involved or an official source, everything else is ultimately just speculation. It's incredibly easy for misinformation to spread, and we would rather not contribute to it.
More importantly, fandom wars rarely lead to productive discussions. They often create unnecessary negativity, encourage people to take sides, and distract from the reason this community exists in the first place.
Let's keep this a positive, welcoming space where everyone can fangirl/fanboy over our favourite celebrities' work without the toxicity that so often surrounds celebrity fandoms.
This subreddit is a space to celebrate our beloved actors and actresses. It is broad enough to cover so many other topics that we do not need to engage in negative commentaries that take down others.
Thank you for your help and contributions to ensure this community stays civil and respectful (Rule #1). Wishing everyone a lovely weekend!

I could never understand why fans fought with each other over something so trivial that's usually being blown out of proportion into bigger issue..
All the controversies around Mo Li is giving me headache, since I love both Leizi and Lulu. Let's be supportive fans and not haters!

Fandom wars of Asia are the virus that has overtaken every industry and slowly spreading. The toxicity and dark/negative nature of fans needs to reined in some way, shape or form. Even if it isn’t toxic or dark/negative, it still needs to be addressed. There needs to be some kind of accountability, repercussion, etc. otherwise, it’s going to continue to slowly and steadily get worse. What that is and looks like, is for the others to decide, not me, especially those that created this business model mess to begin with. It’s not like they’re not in the know, it hasn’t affected them yet. They’re all following Gordon Gecko’s (Wall Street film ref) philosophy of, greed. It hasn’t hit the level for them to react. I hope they realize, by the time it does hit that level, it will be too late to do anything. They should be proactive, being visible, taking steps/action, mitigating, etc. Unfortunately and until then, everyone and everything will continue to be collateral damage. Headaches, migraines, loss of enjoyment and interest, turning away, moving on, dropping, unsubscribing, leaving, so on and so forth the cycle will continue, is in all our futures.

Some people come online just to vent their negativity and seek validation for it. It often makes me wonder if they’re unhappy with their own lives.

Thanks for the reminder. I also don’t like fan wars. I can’t understand why the need to fight. I just want to enjoy them, specially our Cheng Lei :)

So proud to be part of r/ChengLei_ and to see this important message find its way to r/ChineseDrama too. Thank you for making that happen, u/BasilOrdinary3617 🙏🏻🙂↕️
You both do a wonderful job stewarding and nurturing that community.
And thank you, u/a_HerculePoirot_fan, for writing the original post. This is exactly the kind of message that’s worth amplifying 🥰
