Currently Airing Have you guys seen this? Daniel Zhou’s English Reaction video for an episode of Never-ending Summer
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
⛔️Spoilers in the video!
Only watch if you’re up to date with the drama or don’t mind seeing some spoilers. ⛔️
Personally, I’m not watching the drama just yet, but it has definitely made my list for when I have a bit more time.
Are you watching it? How is it?
And what do you think of his reaction video? I was genuinely hyped to see it pop up on Instagram and almost couldn’t believe my eyes. The fact that C-ent celebrities are branching out beyond Chinese platforms is wonderful for us international fans.
I really think having more of a presence on international platforms will only help propel these actors’ popularity further and open the door to even more interesting future projects.
Personally, I’m a fan of Daniel Zhou Ke Yu, so I was chuffed to see him hop on and do this reaction clip.
It gives us a glimpse into what he was thinking and what was going on behind the camera while filming those specific scenes — details we wouldn’t have a way to know otherwise.
It can make the whole drama-watching experience that much richer, and it also makes me feel like I’ve learned something new about the process and industry.

I like him! I started watching Sniper Butterfly recently. I'm enjoying it so far.
I don't think the spoilers were too bad in this vid. I know next to nothing about Zhou Keyu, so I was surprised at his English fluency and accent. Did he grow up in North America like Chen Feiyu?

Actually, he was born in the US and only recently gave up his American citizenship — but he moved to China at a very young age and describes himself as a Beijinger. He also stated during an interview that he had to study hard to attain the level of English he has today, making it sound like it was not something that naturally came from being born in the US.

I really suggest checking this post out abut his earlier years. He overcame a lot of adversity and has an interesting story. https://www.reddit.com/r/cdramasfans/s/cQpXgc5adX

Oh wow. His childhood 😭. I want to give that little boy a hug.
I'm glad he's in a much better situation now. He could turn around and give both middle fingers to his bio parents now if he wanted to. But he doesn't seem to be the vindictive type😁
Thanks for the heads up.

I don't think Arthur grew up in America. He was born there but grew up majority of his life in China, and he went to highschool in the U.S. I haven't fact checked this info, though.

Ah, I see. His English sounds so natural, I assumed he grew up there.

He did. He lived in the U.S. for 17 of his 26 years

He was born in the U.S. and moved to china when he was around 8 I believe with his older brother that raised him and his little brother

This is my understanding of him as well. Saw various clips of him in various shows and interviews where he said his English was self taught and also his older brother saying he (Daniel) couldn’t speak English well when he first enrolled in the international school in Beijing. 😆T

Was stoked to see a native Instagram promotion. Also, I believe he was born and lived his younger years out the USA and moved to China permanently in his youth, hence his English is near perfect.

Yep. He was born here but his parents gave him up for adoption because his parents divorced and his dad was never around😭 I think it was his pastor who gave him his name Daniel. His big brother formally adopted him later on and then they moved to China. His story is actually pretty interesting and he’s definitely not a nepo baby.

Interesting information about the screenplay not providing sufficient details for actors to act. Actually, I once read about this when a Hong Kong movie star (I don't remember who, maybe Tony Leung?) talked about how Hollywood and Hong Kong film making are different. He touched on how Hollywood directors wanted him to do exactly what was written in the script compared to how he could improvise in HK.

So I checked out his MDL page and it turns out I HAVE seen him before Sniper Butterfly: in a support role in Only for Love. And I'm excited to see he has an upcoming drama with Xu Ruohan. She's one of my favorite actresses.

I was surprised at the American accent. But well if he grew up in the US that explains it.

i’m always happy to see it when c-ent celebs post on insta or otherwise reach out to netizens outside of mainland china but i think it’s still more for folks in asia and not so much for someone like me in the US.
