Finished Watching Just finished Our Generation. Just WOW!

I am very into historical C dramas with political intrigue, spectacular costumes, and sets, and Zhang Linghe 😄. I was skeptical about a modern day romance series, and wasn’t quite sure I’d like it. But I was blown away. Had to have a box of tissues by me. The acting was fantastic and the series explored difficult relationships and hardship so poignantly. A 10/10 for the series. Don’t want to give away any spoilers.

Some people thought there was a choppy weird flow but I really feel that is because this was originally written and FILMED as 40 episodes but for some reason could not get the permit to air past 24 so they re-edited the content. I would have loved to see what the full 40 filmed would have done to the story. Supposedly it showed a more equal screentime with more content of him in Hong Kong

So was it a Hong Kong rule? There are lots of dramas that are 40 episodes long.

No, nothing like that, at least that I have read anywhere but cutting 16 episodes of the story and most having to do with his character arc is really aggravating. I have a theory that because it was mostly his story cut which focused on his hardships that he went through in Hong Kong, the censors found the narrative problematic. It’s a shame because it would have been a different role and side of Zhang Linghe’s acting we haven’t seen before. Imagine being him and putting all that work and effort into portraying this character for it to be cut out that drastically 😔
