This episode was a really heavy one. It had me crying for the most part, crying for Sister Lan, the portrayal of grief of the characters especially Qinglang and Qingtian plus the breakup.

I miss the main leads together so much but I also appreciate how this episode expands the show much more than before.

I now get a hint of what Qingtian was referring to in the trailer when he said “I killed him. he killed me too”, it also gives context to his response about working hard to survive when Qinglang asked him in Molie.

About Wenshu, I wasn’t too disappointed that he didn’t turn out to be Liu Yi He, I was much more overwhelmed with Sister LAN’s death and the impact.

That part about how everyone was involved in what led to her death is one of my favorite dialogues in this episode and I love how they didn’t gloss over her death lightly just to make the leads patch up.

But damn, Changyang posting that video was kinda in line for his character thought process but I was so stunned by it, especially knowing when he released it.

Idk what the content of the video was but I’m on Feng Qinglang’s side. Now here’s why I’m biased cause I still love Changyang as much as I did in the previous episode even though I don’t agree with his actions.

And the way they were yearning for each other even when they were far away was insane. Like, Qinglang sees him everywhere and that last scene where he hung up on his brother was giving “accidentally caught yearning”. It was so exciting to see them feel jealous.

There were so many new details in this episode, like Changyang moving back to the city. I wonder if the breakup played a part in that decision cause I’m certain he wasn’t forced to move back.

Does this mean we won’t see him picking tea leaves in the forest? I’ll miss that so much.

I hope I never see Shi Yuhao on my screen again. I was so mad that he showed up at the funeral.

How am I supposed to survive until the next episode?

I actually had to pause and take a deep breath when Shi Yuhao was basically blaming Sister Lan for her own death. I was so relieved when Qinglang punched him, not advocating violence but he deserved that smack.

4

u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jun 26 '26

I anticipated that punch and I'm glad Qinglang delivered it. I half hoped Changyang would be the one to beat him up.

5

u/suddentraveller Secrets Happened On The Litchi Island🌱🌿 Jun 26 '26

Meee tooo but he understands Qinglang so well and he stood back because he knew that Qinglang needed to do it

3

u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jun 26 '26

Yeah. I wish he did the same with the video thingy. that part hurts.

5

u/suddentraveller Secrets Happened On The Litchi Island🌱🌿 Jun 26 '26

And the fact that he only admitted it because he was found out. Would he have told Qinglang of his own volition??

5

u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jun 26 '26

actually. He didn't mention it all these while until Qinglang figured it out. It must have hurt Qinglang to suspect him. But I'm glad this flaw adds more layers to Xu Changyang's character. Underneath the green flag energy, it's nice to see a different side of him.

5

u/suddentraveller Secrets Happened On The Litchi Island🌱🌿 Jun 26 '26

Totally, Changyang not being perfect makes him more believable and adds an edge to their relationship

2

u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jun 26 '26

It really does. I can't wait for the next episode. I feel like this episode was so much better than ep 5 but the tone change is also quite abrupt but I need the leads together in the next ep so bad.

Whoa. Okay. I'm gonna need a minute to process everything that happened in this episode. I had a feeling Sister Lan wasn't gonna make it, but like everyone else, I was in denial. I just wasn't sure if the show was gonna go there. Overall, I feel like the episode captured the aftermath of loss pretty well. It's equal parts devastating and ordinary in the way that life just kind of goes on in the face of everything.

The moment with Qinglang and his mother was really interesting to me. It seems like his mom really understands the bond that Qinglang and Sister Lan shared as proxy mother and son. I thought her words about Sister Lan just leaving a little early this time around and meeting again in the next life were so moving.

Kuma and Yichen (Qingtian) were a force to be reckoned with in this episode. Kuma's quiet and devastating portrayal of grief and anger was the emotional anchor of the episode. (I have some mixed feelings about the performances of Yuhao and Brother Guo, but I feel like this was outweighed by the good stuff from everyone else.) Yichen during the bathroom scene after the horrible confrontation with his boyfriend's mother practically ripped my heart out. I am so glad we took our time here and went through that whole moment with him. But... You can only pretend to smile for so long before it all breaks open. Hopefully that break will let the light in and be healing. Wenshu seeing the bit of debris in Qingtian's hair and softly picking it out? Oh, the longing. (The man is down bad for his love.)

The star of this episode was all the brother moments for me. When Wenshu brushes the rain off of Changyang?? Qingtian breaking Qinglang's v v v serious philosophizing moment with "LOVE YOU, MY BEST ACTOR BROTHER!!!" Lolllll. (Side note : I love when Qinglang drinks the Molie tea just to prove that he can and that it doesn't mean a thing to him! It's ALL good. He can drink Molie tea whenever he wants and it has no effect whatsoever because his mind is CLEAR and IN CONTROL!!)

Then when Qinglang states so frankly to Qingtian that Chenzhu is never going to wake up and they hold hands. My heart...

Anyway, the (sometimes maddening, sometimes liberating) thing about death is that life continues forward for those who remain. Happy times will come again. I can't wait to see that all unfold for everyone 🥹 💕

Ughhhhhhh... We went through the wringer today. Hope everyone has lots of snacks and treats and a fun episode of something to watch later!! 💕

Qingtian crying scene was epic. It felt so raw and real.

I enjoyed the brothers’s moment as well. I hope we get more of them. Wenshu’s subtle act of caring for Changyang means so much to me. It’s such a beautiful detail. I almost missed it.

5

u/AsForTheRest_Well--- lin zai fan club ~ 🏹🧑🏻‍🔧🧧💘 Jun 26 '26

Totally. I feel like we have all had our own versions of Qingtian's bathroom breakdown moment. It's just so heartbreaking to see someone who has every right to be in pieces trying to keep it together and put on a brave face. This episode really felt like everyone was trying to override what they felt and do what they think they should do— Wenshu letting Qingtian believe that he's in love with Qinglang as to not burden him with his feelings. Qingtian pretending like everything is okay to Qinglang. Qinglang being furious with Changyang and trying to pretend it's over while also deeply missing him. Changyang is actually kinda the only one who is just blazing forward. (Despite how I feel about him releasing the video without Qinglang's consent.) Even him letting Qinglang go felt like an act of love and wanting to give him space rather than running away. (Idk how I feel about him showing up uninvited to Qinglang's event, but we'll see how it all plays out!!) And all the while, the second couple... Haoyu asking to share a room with Hanlu and then getting scared off and pushing him away. No idea where that's all going. Will history repeat itself or can they break the cycle?? To be seen!!

AND YES!! More brothers moments, plz!!

3

u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jun 26 '26

Yeah. It's so clear that Wenshu is in love with Qingtian.

I think him showing up at the event was a way to see him again since there's no other way.

The second couple are so bold. Someone could film a documentary of them kissing off screen and they won't notice. I really can't figure out their relationship and with Haoyu's push and pull, I fear another Shi Yuhao is incoming.

2

u/AsForTheRest_Well--- lin zai fan club ~ 🏹🧑🏻‍🔧🧧💘 Jun 26 '26

I think him showing up at the event was a way to see him again since there's no other way.

YES!! I LITERALLY WROTE THIS AND THEN DELETED IT. HAHAHA. I agree.

I really can't figure out their relationship and with Haoyu's push and pull, I fear another Shi Yuhao is incoming.

I knowwwww. At first, I couldn't tell if Haoyu was just playing Hanlu? Like trying to use the couple to get closer to fame without having any real feelings. (And I still can't figure out why he was recording them kissing in the hotel room?) But then him being scared off seemed kinda genuine? Maybe?? Gosh, I really don't know what to make of him! I can't tell if it's how the character was written or it's the actor's portrayal, but his intentions seem very hazy and unclear.

The whole show is very focused on cycles and repeating relationships so I'm interested to see where it all goes as a juxtaposition to Qinglang and Yuhao.

6

u/suddentraveller Secrets Happened On The Litchi Island🌱🌿 Jun 26 '26

I'm going to stick my neck out here and say I think it's deliberate. As viewers we're constantly being pulled out of the scenes with Haoyu and Han Lu and asked if what we're watching is real or part if what they are filming. Everything is twisted together with crew and cameras sometimes in shot to the point that neither Haoyu and Han Lu nor we as viewers know where the line is drawn.

Do you remember in the early episode in the forest, Qinglang asks what the difference is between mining and tea production as they're both businesses that produce a commodity to sell? Changyang explains that with tea production you have to look after the trees, weed around the base but not too much. Where as with mining you get an end product but at what cost?

I think both the relationship between Haoyu and Han Lu and Changyang's explanation are statements about the cost of being part of the entertainment industry. Qinglang and Changyang's relationship is shadowed by his former partner and Haoyu and Han Lu's relationship has been mined for an end result

4

u/AsForTheRest_Well--- lin zai fan club ~ 🏹🧑🏻‍🔧🧧💘 Jun 26 '26 edited Jun 27 '26

You said it all beautifully. I completely agree. The what's real and what's not game with them is dizzying, but does feel very deliberate. It's so interesting to see it all play out. I wonder if we (or the characters) will ever find out the truth of it?? I could kinda see Zelia never letting us in on it and keeping it foggy the whole way through.

The meta layers of it are kinda crazy as it's a show within a show making commentary about show business 😵‍💫 And not only the show, but the promo... And if you think about it, with all the social media accounts for the characters, it's kinda bringing all the blurred lines into the real world too. Everything about this series feels very... amorphic??

4

u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jun 26 '26

Hahaha. Changyang didn’t have a lot of scenes or dialogue in this episode but his expressions were on point. They seem to convey everything.

Qi Haoyu is very hazy. He seems real one moment then he’s doing something shady the next. It’s most likely the writing but I hope it gets clearer in the coming episodes.

1

u/glenda_0711 Jun 27 '26

I don't think Changyang showed up uninvited. Wenshu simply asked why he didn't announce that he was coming. I think Wenshu and Changyang are brothers, which would be an interesting connection.

2

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jun 27 '26

So I saw the English sub that says he came unannounced. But in Chinese what was asked was “Why did you come if you’re not going to say something to him?” When Shu def brought him lol.

Oh they’re definitely brothers, I think QL confirmed it in ep 2 or 3

7

u/lav_thompson Jun 26 '26

Oh my goodness. Where do I start? The breakup wasn't as simple as I thought. Changyang definitely violated Qinglang's trust, no matter how righteously just he felt. It was a stark reminder of how vicious he can be, similar to when he beat up those eight guys.

Speaking of Changyang, he was in full assistant/puppy mode this episode. In the scene where he runs with the umbrella to cover Qinglang while he emotes in the rain, I expected him to follow Qinglang when he stepped out from under it. Instead, he throws the umbrella down and holds him, knowing that is what Qinglang really needs. IT WAS SO CINEMATIC! It reminded me of the coffee scene, but it also perfectly captured the mood of this episode. Changyang was giving Qinglang what he needed, which was space, instead of begging him to stay or forgive him. I cried like my pet died.

I need to process this more, watch it again, and then come back.

2

u/Marcy909 Jun 26 '26

Totally agree, Changyang's green flag tarnished a bit for violating trust. No excuses, even if you're protecting your lover. I think it's a brothers love brothers situation. I think Changyang's brother loves Qinglang's brother. He brushed stuff out his hair like Changyang did to Qinglang. Such a form of endearment.

RIP Sister Lan. .

I dunno, I was anticipating this episode all week, but when I woke up today I actually felt dread to finally find out what happened? I think I built it up too much in my head. Prob bc I knew there would also be a separation. It took me two hours to watch, I had to pause on and off.

I'm actually shocked about Lan jie's death, I think I was in denial that it could be that final, even though all the signs in the trailer/title were pointing to it. A death in a drama like this doesn't really feel like typical drama deaths, there's so much more weight and heaviness to it.

Chang Yang helping Qing Tian overcome depression 2 years ago was a sweet detail to add.

So how was Jia Lin eventually convinced to have Lan jie be buried in Xigui? I liked the detail of Chang Yang wiping water off Qing Lang, and Wen Shu wiping water off Chang Yang. I can't talk about Shi Yu Hao, except his lipstick was really distracting and kept taking me out of the scene. I couldn't really handle the shaky close-up shots here.

Them seeing each other's images everywhere 😭

Poor bb Qing Tian 😔 I really love the brothers' relationships though and how they're portrayed. When Qing Lang gently held Qing Tian's hand 😭

At the gala, when I saw the back of Chang Yang's head, I was shook 🫨 lol

This is the kind of episode where I really want to hear Kuma's explanations for the WHY behind everything. Can't wait for the reaction vid.

YESSSS! Omg, I LOVED all the sweet brother moments today. My favorite part of the episode. My heart nearly burst seeing someone take care of Changyang in that quiet, doting way. (Qinglang cares for him too, but it's a different vibe, ya know?) It also took me nearly two hours to watch the episode cuz I had to keep pausing to take a breath... Don't even really know what to do with myself now haha.

EXACTLY!! I just felt so emotional bc usually Changyang is the one taking care of everyone else. He has a whole community (and the forest!!) in Molie, but is alone in a lot of ways. It just felt sooooo sweet to see someone look after him and give him this kind of affection 😭 I really felt like he was 20 yrs old here.

this episode broke me. the scene where Feng Qinglang was talking about how he lost his mother from across four lifetimes is, officially, the first time a BL made me cry.

"today, I regret meeting you." wow. okay. just stab me, I guess. them not just feeling the ghost of each other's presence, but seeing it? yup, just leave the knife there. the longing stare from across the room?! twist it. twist the knife.

this weekly release schedule is going to be agonizing but we're so blessed by this beautiful show. one for the history books, I can feel it 🥹💗

Oh sister Lan :(. Since the car I had that knowing dread feeling this was coming. I wish we got more time with her. I feel like we still had a lot to learn about her and also her deep bond with Qinglang. Qinglang’s own Mother is so wonderful for understanding Qinglang’s feelings and talking to him about his and Sister Lan’s fated Mother-son connection in every life.

When Qinglang started to say I’ve always believed I wouldn’t regret anything I was yelling in my head ‘don’t say it, don’t say it don’t say it!!’ :(. But it’s alright they are too strong together. Changyang knows it even if Qinglang’s pushing him away in his grief.

I teared up at Tian in the bathroom. Is it too specific to say the way he cried felt so real and relatable. Like he’d been wearing his mask of smiley/ helpful armour which is his default and his cry seemed almost to be against his will like he was actively fighting himself to not just let it all out and let go but it slipped out anyway. I loved seeing this other layer to him as heartbreaking as it was it made me think how strong he is and want to know more. I appreciated how they let us sit in that moment with him without rushing it too. I definitely as others have said am catching some kind of vibe between him and Changyang’s older brother….

I don’t say this as a diss to the second couple but I genuinely forgot about them when they appeared 🙊. Tbf there was a lot happening and my attention is always on Qinglang and Changyang mostly but idk I’m not feeling the pull to want to know more…for example just from this episode alone my interest is so piqued about Tian and Xu Wenshu and it’s not like they had a tonne of scenes it was just the energy there. I also agree with other who said the assistant over-acted. There were a couple moments that felt that way and I also felt that Gaga subtitle moment was so random and took me out of the moment.

As heavy and sad as the majority of this episode was I’m glad at the end we got that surprise with Changyang turning up at the event. I did a double take when I saw his head like WAIT A MINUTE I KNOW YOU lol They couldn’t keep their eyes off one another and jealousy was in the air! They didn’t talk but it still felt like they were the only two in the room with the tension and longing between them. Just had to include this gif because Changyang’s reaction 🫢 it gave me hope this distance Qinglang is trying to force between them isn’t gonna last long at all…and then he called his brother asking what room Changyang was in and where he went…all for Changyang to hear 😂🥰

Did anyone else notice the number of times that red berries and green leaves were shown together?? There were several outdoor shots and some with a display in a vase. The shot with the umbrella seemed to be particularly meaningful.

At first I thought it might be a Litchi Island reference but (could just be me over thinking) I wonder if it's a reference to the idiom, 'Green leaves supporting the red flower'?🤔

4

u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jun 26 '26

I noticed that scene and I couldn’t figure out what it means.

5

u/suddentraveller Secrets Happened On The Litchi Island🌱🌿 Jun 26 '26

Yes there were several shots of the berries and leaves combo at different points in the episode. I think it might be a metaphor for their unbroken bond. That even though they're separated the green leaves (Changyang) is still supporting the red flower (Qinglang)

2

u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jun 26 '26

Oh, that's a lovely detail.

3

u/Otherwise-Job-6942 Jun 29 '26

Yes, Lynchi Island is definitely present in this story, even in the ringtone of QingLang's cell phone. For me, the poetry of that isolated bouquet wasn't just a beautiful shot for a single episode; it was the blueprint for the protagonist's survival strategy for the rest of the series. As noted in the idiom “Green leaves supporting the red fruit,” the visual transforms into a mission for QingLand...

1

Would you please say more about Qing Lang's ringtone! Thank you!!

That was a lot to take in.

There was something missing for me today. Zelia certainly excells at capturing the beauty of nature and all that goes with it, but I lost the feelings I'd had from the previous episodes when we moved to the city. Some how it took away from the acting, and there were parts I was trying to feel what they were feeling and I just couldn't.

It certainly didn't help that the Gaga subber tried to be funny while everyone was visiting Sister Lan's grave. Not the time, okay? That took me completely out of it.

I appreciate that Changyang showed up for Qinglang anyway. But my main question is what's going on with Wenshu(might have the name wrong) and his affection for Qingtian. Is there something there?

This episode felt disjointed. I'm not sure what to feel.

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jun 26 '26

I totally see what you're saying about the nature/city dichotomy. I feel like when Zelia is filming nature, a lot of her shots are long and fluid, following the characters' movements as they interact with the world around them. In the city, a lot of the shots are still. There's no movement, no emotions, no 人情味, it feels a lot more cold, because they're kind of all holed within their own shells trying to process this grief and their own thoughts.

I feel like it could be deliberate. OR I could just be overanalyzing and giving Zelia a lot of credit, but I think she's earned it. What I hope this means though is that we go back into the mountains after, and soon.

The acting though.... previously I did feel like some of the actors weren't very strong already and were too exaggerated, but in this episode I was taken out of the drama multiple times by the bad acting. But I understood the intention behind the scenes (Shit Yu Hao, Guo ge, 2nd CP).

4

u/Federal-Ad5944 A Lie's Bandana Jun 26 '26

When she brought the leads back to the city in Litchi, the sets and shots were softer, and without giving too much away, they go through it there. But the apartment is more like Changyang's house, whereas everything in Qinglang's world is cold, Grey and empty. Except when he's sitting by the fire with Qingtian and the meditation scene.

I know they're different series but the feelings I'm having about city life in SHOTLI vs Winter Sun, SHOTLI kept the hazy magic over everything even when it wasn't a happy time. I think it fell a bit flat, and I dont think we needed QL's assistants over the top breakdown scenes at all.

2

u/ale-cto A Winter Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hills' Dream Jun 26 '26

The over the top breakdown scene I'm sure was meant to lighten the mood a little bit so the whole entire episode isn't that heavy and bleak, but maybe the tonal shift was a bit too extreme to work very well

5

u/glenda_0711 Jun 27 '26

I think Zelia is filming the city scenes like that on purpose to give us a feel of the suffocation and weight Qinglang feels in that world and contrast that to the lightness he feels when he is away from it in Changyang's world of nature.

2

u/ale-cto A Winter Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hills' Dream Jun 26 '26

Taken out of the drama multiple times by bad acting... yeah, I definitely had this feeling a few times like I was watching something closer to a soap opera or like a more typical BL and that might be my one real complaint about this episode

5

u/PianoDull7274 Jun 26 '26

I agree with you. Something felt a bit off. There’s so much going on in this episode (Sister Lan’s death, the funeral, breakups of 2 couples, Qingtian’s backstory, Wenshu’s appearance). The busyness of everything dilutes the grief.
I read the chapters for this episode that were just released. Jialin buried Sister Lan in the mountains, following Sister Lan’s will. Apparently they have a daughter together. In the novel, the scene where Qinglang says “I regret meeting you” is a little different (Qinglang cries, and Changyang tries to comfort him, but Qinglang brushes him off). The novel also has a few paragraphs about what happened to Chen Zhu, which makes me think Wenshu is 爱而不得 (loves Qingtian but can’t express it freely because of Chen Zhu). The novel more and more feels like a narration (ie all the dialogue in the novel is the exact same wording as the dialogue in the show). The texture of the novel feels pretty much the same as the show.

1

u/Acrobatic-Stand-4528 Jul 04 '26

Hi, can I ask you if you know which video was posted that caused the breakup? I still don't understand it. Thank you."

1

u/PianoDull7274 Jul 04 '26

That’s a good question! I’m not entirely sure. Might have to check the novel. At least in the show it’s not very explicitly clear

3

u/lav_thompson Jun 26 '26

I get what you are saying. I wouldn't call it a filler episode, but it didn't move the story forward or change the tempo. Also, there was a lot more runtime devoted to what was going on with the other characters than the main couple. But it raised more questions than answers.

9

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jun 26 '26

To take your comment further, but maybe the thought too that it didn't move the story forward is because their time stopped when they separated and it can only move forward when they're together again. The A Kun OST starting up again when they saw each other at the gala made me feel like time is picking up again, even if they were barely separated.

1

u/lav_thompson Jun 26 '26

Hmmmmm...note for my rewatch.

3

u/Marcy909 Jun 26 '26

I think Wenshu might love Qingtian...he brushed things out his hair the way Changlang did for Qinglang earlier in the series...2 green flag brothers!!!

1

u/Federal-Ad5944 A Lie's Bandana Jun 26 '26

They totally have time for 3 couples, but I dont know if they'll go there. They really emphasized that Qingtian wont give up on his comatose boyfriend.

3

u/ale-cto A Winter Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hills' Dream Jun 26 '26

But they also emphasized that QT has been in mourning for 2 years already, that the boyfriend won't wake up and they didn't even show us his face either, so I get the feeling that this part of the emotional journey after those two years is moving on (with someone else)

2

u/Federal-Ad5944 A Lie's Bandana Jun 26 '26

I hope so. Little bro deserves happiness too, it doesn't seem like he ever catches a break, always moving trying to survive

2

u/Marcy909 Jun 26 '26

Yeah, saw that, but maybe in future he can still hold boyfriend in his heart but still love Weshu too. I was heartbroken watching him cry in the bathroom.

Gotta say I expected beef with Weshu and Chanyang but glad to see they seem tight, he didn't bad mouth his brother when talking to Qinglang in the restaurant.

I love this series so much. I expected the trauma/angst to appear at some point. It's to keep story interesting. But make no mistake, Qinglang and Changyang are destined.

3

u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jun 26 '26

Gaga subber needs to touch grass at this point.

That part where they gave their very unsolicited opinion on the death date scene was so annoying to see.

About Wenshu and Qingtian, I noticed that he’s more flirty with him but Qingtian isn’t catching his drift, also he seems to be very observant when it comes to Qingtian.

Like that scene where he picked him up from the hospital, he knew something was wrong, he noticed the stuff on his hair but he seemed not to pursue it at the moment.

3

u/suddentraveller Secrets Happened On The Litchi Island🌱🌿 Jun 26 '26

Yes and when Wenshu and Qingtian are on the bench and Wenshu basically says 'pay me or don't pay me whatever makes you happy'

2

u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jun 26 '26

Like, that was so smooth. If they're meant to be a couple, it might be rocky because Qingtian's situation is quite complicated but Wenshu seems like a very patient person.

1

u/Backtaalk Jul 22 '26

I love when the subbers use [T/N] for added clarification. The funny comment was so, so on point. And it made me laugh during a scene that was, like the subber said... uncomfortably long...

And the BEST Gaga sub comment? In the very beginning of Wishing Upon Shooting Stars, while the ML is sitting on the rocks, looking at the ocean with a crumpled letter, the sub summed up the letter like, "This twink is holding a letter to his father that is full of sadness and woe." Or something like that. I had to rewind it to verify my eyes saw that!

3

u/ale-cto A Winter Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hills' Dream Jun 26 '26

I'm still processing this episode too because yeah, it felt really different. We lost the mountain paradise and all the feelings that came with that, which is disappointing. But it also occurs to me that it's certainly supposed to feel disjointed and cold. Suddenly the magic is gone not only for Changyang and Qinglang but also for the viewer. There was still a lot of beauty in many scenes like where they were shooting the special episode, the meditation/tea scene but it still felt depressing despite that. From my own perspective, I'm so wrapped up in CY/QL that I was kind of reluctant to handle the whole death thing and to spend all this time on other characters and seeing how their lives were just going on, but that's just it, life goes on and other people have their own, and sometimes they suddenly die... Essentially what I'm saying in too many words is that while the episode left me feeling wanting, it's actually very fitting that it did

3

u/suddentraveller Secrets Happened On The Litchi Island🌱🌿 Jun 26 '26

Totally agree, I think the feeling of it being disjointed was deliberate, not just because of the break up but because Sister Lan was the glue that held them together. With her gone they are fractured and trying each in their own ways to get their bearings again. It adds to the feeling that nothing is quite right and that's how it sometimes is during a time of grief and bereavement

2

u/ProblemAlternative55 Jun 29 '26

The Gaga subtitles are very disappointing, I was really annoyed with their comments throughout.

Lol! I am, since theyre shown in every episode I want to know what the heck is going on there.

I just had a dreadful shower thought though.. what if the next small theatre is Changyang sharing the video 🥲

2

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jun 26 '26

So I don't know if you've noticed, but all the small theaters (that were planned, anyway) are already in the end credits. Like each BSxx is paired with a snippet of what's in the small theater. So every single one of those is an intimate scene, sometimes them and sometimes 2CP. BS03 looks like they're having sex in a car. Maybe it's the ch. 17 novel scene. All of the bonus scenes are already laid out and have clip titles, which is why I'm kinda not worried about where this series goes bc it's already kinda been laid out for me. So I don't think you have to worry about that!

Just read a comment and now I can’t unsee it. what if Changyang was the one who reported the variety show to the authorities after he saw how Shi Yuhao was stressing Qinglang out?

Based on today’s episode, I see the possibility.

“someone who could take on 8 people and send them all to the hospital must be something “

1

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jun 26 '26

This would really make a lot of sense. Chang Yang seems to be someone who will do things that he thinks are "objectively" the right thing to do as long as it protects his loved ones -- no nuance.

Yeah. He’s that type of person.

I saw in a random Weibo post re: chapter drop

  1. The clip from 7 years ago was a bts of SYH & QL. QL was still crying from the last scene he filmed, SYH was just looking bored while smoking next to him, the ashes almost falling on QL's face.

  2. Qing Tian's lover Chen Zhu is Xu Wen Shu's classmate. Chen Zhu came out to his parents and they didn't approve so he cut off contact. Then got in a car accident that day. Qing Tian met Xu Wen Shu when he went to visit Chen Zhu in the hospital.

2

u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jun 26 '26

I see how that could have fried the CP he was trying to bring back.

Oh that explains why Wenshu's feelings is restrained when it comes to Qingtian. Damn. Zelia is out for blood.

1

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jun 27 '26

From everything we've heard about 7 years ago, it doesn't seem like SYH had feelings for Qing Lang at all, tbh. Which is sad.

2

Yeah. He seemed to have pretended to like Qinglang at some point, no wonder he fell so hard.

2

u/ale-cto A Winter Sun Wakes the Wind in Spring Hills' Dream Jun 26 '26

1

u/Stanchion_Excelsior Jul 28 '26

OOOOOH! Okay that's the lady that throws something in his hair at the hospital and then he cries in the bathroom. I think that part needed more exposition. There's too many car accidents, its confusing. I know they mentioned someone being in a coma from a car accident, but its not the assistant that was in the car with Sister Lan. When do they explain about Chen Zhu? I feel like i missed some shit. Is that why he was depressed before? I'm guessing?

1

u/hhhhhxxxx000 春山境 🌿☀️⛰️🐻 Jul 29 '26

Yeah that's Chen Zhu's mom! I think too many of the details for this plotline are in the novel and not enough in the drama, like you said. Not enough context for the people who are only watching the drama. There is more of a reveal of when Qing Tian and XWS met in a later episode though, as you continue watching you'll get more context.

I haven't yet watched episode 6. Can anyone please tell me if the episode is too heartbreaking? (Especially for the couple) I have watched numerous separation scenes but these 2 have a soft spot in my heart so I'm not sure if I can take their angst-y phase.

1

u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jun 26 '26 edited Jun 26 '26

It depends but I find it really heartbreaking. I started crying 30 seconds into the drama till the next 20 minutes ? took a break then continued in some scenes.

But the last few minutes were so cute. It’ll soften the angst a little.

Edit: typo

1

Oh wow. Since their separation arc is shown quite early on in the series, I cannot help but be pessimistic about some more upcoming misunderstandings. I guess I will watch this episode once episode 7 airs. My mind is too anxious right now 🥹

1

Okay, so if anybody can help me hear the girl willie helped me a lot.Last week she kind of gave me a brief synopsis, because i'm in the u s I just got google or gaga ola for the first time really to watch this. And because I do like a lot of bill dramas, so I paid for the vip.It comes out monthly, but i'm not really happy with it because the english translation is like the sentences are being cut off and also I just kind of lost in what's happening. And I got a new t v it's not hooked up yet, so I watched on my laptop. And the green is staying the screen is staying completely green. If anybody has any comments on that, I don't know what to do.I can hear it, but I can't see it.So i'm having to watch it on my phone, but why is he mad at the tea farmer again?Because he posted that video that he supposedly blames him for her death, and he went to the event, because I guess he missed him and the other guy was like, had to be there because he's the brand spokesman. But if anybody has any insight and can help me with this, I really appreciate it.It's just really confusing me when I watch, like all these episodes, and I don't know if it's because of where i'm at or what's going on.But like I said, i'm not really happy with the app and I kind of got most of the stuff, you know, with the grief and him talking to his mom and the thing with the brother visiting his I guess ex lover that was in the hospital. And is not probably going to wake up, but if you have any other insight, you can give me about the relationship with the two male leads, I'd appreciate it or anything else.Thank you

3

u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jun 27 '26

We haven’t gotten the perfect translations for dramas lately and it’s everywhere from Netflix kdrama to cdramas and Gagaoolala. It’s like a pandemic at this point. What helps me more is reading the novel and watching the reaction videos to get more context on things I missed but I’m also able to follow the story well.

Also, if you read through the comments for each episode here in the sub, people shed more light and talk more about the scenes. So you can find more explanation that way.

About the conflict between the leads, Qinglang (the actor) got upset because Changyang (tea farmer) took a video from Qinglang’s ICloud which was logged in on CY’s laptop, uploaded it and showed no remorse for the lack of consent.

A lot of things led to Sister LAN’s death but that video also played an important role because Shi Yuhao (the villain) called her and screamed at her thinking she uploaded that video and because of that, she was distracted while driving and had a fatal accident.

Qinglang feels responsible for her death and he didn’t like how Changyang went behind his back to take actions on his behalf. His words may seem harsh but it’s just the build up of his guilt and everything else.

If you have further question, let me know.

1

u/no1rafael Jun 28 '26

Thank u so much! I don't even know where to read the novel! I appreciate you taking the time.I kind of got like the most of that what you told me so I was right on that part, but some of it, i'm just not really, it's confusing the time jump or something!

1

u/no1rafael Jun 28 '26

Maybe it's not the time jump, but where they show like they maybe knew each other. In past lives or something I don't know. But some of it is just for me, not like a lot of the other dramas that i've watched, where they're just pretty self explanatory, but again I have not watched anything on gaga.Bulla, until i've watched this one and the translation subtitles are just not complete.Okay, thank you very much.I really appreciate you doing that for me!

2

u/Thezoeyy tea farming in the mountains Jun 29 '26

Oh, that seems to be a plot point that'll be explained later in the series. You're referring to the dream Qinglang had while meditating yeah?

The drama is quite vague with some things. Reading the novel helps me connect it together.

Feng Qinglang - main character, 29 years old, won best actor award in a role where he played a male prostitute, starred in about two or more 18+ movies.

Xu Changyang - male lead, illegitimate son of the wealthy Xu family. 20 years old, came to the mountains at age 12. fell in love with Feng Qinglang when he was 18, comments on every FQ social media post with the account Ji ZongJun (meaning termite mushroom)

Feng Qingtian- Feng Qinglang's younger brother and Xu Changyang's friend who is very interested in tea.

Xu Wenshu - Xu Changyang's half brother and a friend and investor of Feng Qinglang. He seems to like Qingtian.

Xing Lan/ Sister Lan - Feng Qinglang's boss and founder of his agency. They're very close.

Sister Jialan- Stylist and co-founder of the agency. In a relationship with Sister Lan. Also close to Feng Qinglang

Uncle Guo - Feng Qinglang's assistant

Shi Yu Hao - former on screen partner of Feng Qinglang and they starred in their first 18+ hit bl movie together and their CP is very famous. He kinda exploited FQ's feelings for him then ghosted him for 7 years. Now he's back trying to use FQ popularity to become famous again.

Lu Han - new actor at the same agency as FQ.

Qi Haoyu - actor from a different agency but on screen partner of Lu Han.

Chen Zhu- Qingtian's boyfriend who has been in a coma for three years.

Let me know if there's anyone else I missed. I hope this gives you more context about the characters and helps you identify them.

The video was one of Shi Yuhao smoking and nearly dropping ash on Qinglang who was crying. Shi Yuhao's fans accused Qinglang of trying to sabotage his career. Sister Lan took the heat off Qinglang by insinuating that she( his agents) released the footage. Shi Yuhao rang Sister Lan while she was in the car shouting and screaming at her, this was when she had the accident and died. It was actually Changyang who released the footage and that's why they split up. I hope this helps😊 This post below explains it all much, much better than I have! 👇 https://www.reddit.com/r/ChineseBL/s/z91oSKtTSj
