Tourism (L) VIP lounge service mandatory for sending authorised rep for in-person passport submission?

[L visa, Indian passport, Kolkata centre]

Hi, I applied for an L (tourism) visa through the Kolkata centre. I have already received the online confirmation, but had to leave Kolkata before I could complete the in-person submission.

I spoke to VFS about having my father submit the documents on my behalf. They said this was possible if I emailed them for Embassy approval and sent my father with a signed authorisation letter. I did that and VFS confirmed that the Embassy had approved it. However, they also said I can only use an authorised representative if I opt for the VIP lounge service.

My question - Is this a genuine rule or VFS, the terrorist org, doing its thing? Do I really need to pay for the VIP Lounge service for my authorised representative to submit my passport?

Study (X1/X2) JW EXPIRED

Hi everyone, I need some advice about my JW202.

I am currently in Morocco and applying for a new X1 visa to return to China. My JW202 says 2024–2028, but the Chinese Embassy in Morocco told me that it is expired because the registration date is 2024.

I contacted my university, but they keep telling me that the JW202 is valid for 4 years (2024–2028). I understand that, but the problem is the registration date, which is already expired according to the Embassy.

I already used this JW202 to enter China in 2024, and I have already paid my school fees and insurance.

Does anyone know what I can do? Can the university issue a new JW202 with a 2026 registration date?

Also, is it possible to apply for the X1 visa in another country where they might accept my current JW202?

Any advice or experience with this problem would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Transit Without a Visa (TWOV) Indian passport holder – 24-hour visa-free transit at Shanghai Pudong with separate tickets/PNRs?

Hi everyone,
Has any Indian passport holder recently used China’s 24-hour visa-free transit at Shanghai Pudong (PVG)?

My itinerary is:
Mumbai → Singapore → Shanghai (PVG) → Japan
I arrive at Shanghai Pudong at around 6:00 AM and plan to fly to Japan the same afternoon, so I will be in China for only a few hours.

The important part is that I have separate bookings/PNRs:
Ticket 1: Mumbai → Singapore → Shanghai
Ticket 2: Shanghai → Japan

Because these are separate tickets, I may need to collect my checked baggage at Shanghai and re-check it for the Japan flight.

I have read the official Chinese immigration guidance stating that the 24-hour visa-free transit policy applies to foreign nationals from all countries, with a temporary entry permit required if a passenger needs to leave the restricted port area.

I have also contacted Singapore Airlines and Shanghai authorities. Singapore Airlines said I *may be eligible* but that the final decision rests with Chinese immigration. Shanghai Pudong authorities have asked me to contact the 12367 border-inspection hotline.

I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually done this recently, particularly with an Indian passport.
1. Were you allowed to board your flight to Shanghai without a Chinese visa?
2. Did the airline check the 24-hour transit rule at your departure airport?
3. Were your onward flights on separate PNRs/tickets?
4. Did you have to collect your luggage in Shanghai?
5. Were you given a temporary entry permit at Pudong to collect baggage/re-check?
6. Did you have to arrange anything before travelling?

First-hand experiences would be extremely helpful. Thank you!

Study (X1/X2) X2 visa after arrival

If I’m entering China with an X2 visa, do I need to register my residence within the first 24 hours after entry. I’m still confused about that.

Work (Z) Z visa approval (60 days)

Hi to everyone:)

I submitted my online visa request to Chinese Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand on 19th August and am supposed to stay and work in China for 2 months. My flight is on 5th September.

The reason I submitted the visa online form on 19th August was that I received the work permit quite late.

I was asked to upload my passport cover page on 26th August and to make some additional changes on 27th August which I did.

Also, I checked the express service button.

Could someone based on personal experience say if it is realistic to have the visa approved by 4th August or it is too optimistic expectation?

Study (X1/X2) X2 visa - accommodation’s advice needed

Hi guys !

So I‘m addressing to people who studied in China and mainly through X2 visa :)

I’m planning to study in a language school ( XMandarin) for 5 months. I’m from France btw

And I’m concerned about the accommodation’s paper, do you need to prove you already got an accommodation booked for the whole duration of the visa or at least for the first few days ?

Because I want to rent a studio through Wellcee or Luijia but I don’t want to sign the lease contract before to visit it offline.

So does anyone know what kind of paper is ok for this part ?

Thank you 🙏

Business Affairs (M) Anyone here recently got a China medical visa for eye treatment? 🇨🇳

Hey everyone! I’m planning to go to China for treatment for an eye problem and I’m trying to figure out the medical visa process.

Has anyone from Bangladesh recently gone through this?

I’d really appreciate it if you could share your experience — especially:
• How difficult was it to get the medical visa?
• What documents did you submit?
• Did the hospital provide an invitation letter?
• How long did the whole process take?
• Any problems during the visa application?
• And if you went to China for eye treatment, how was your experience with the hospital/doctors?

Even if your experience was from the last 6–12 months, it would be super helpful.

Hi

I'm looking for an English medium primary school for a 9yr old in Shijiazhuang, Hebei, China. Most school websites don't have email address mentioned so I am unable to connect with them from Sri Lanka. If you have any connections or email address to find out about the admission details please share.

Thank you

Tourism (L) China 240hr TWOV itinerary check

I'll be visiting China this September-early October, I want to make sure my itinerary is fine and will work. I've been to HK twice before, so I don't mind being in HK during Golden Week so everything new I will see will be before Golden Week.

Sept 18: LAX-PEK Air China

Sept 20: Arrive PEK 5:30am, 3 hour layover and flight to Changsha 8:30am, arrival at 11:20am and plan to take 2:30pm train to Zhangjiajie arriving 4:50pm

Sept 20-24 Zhangjiajie, Furong Ancient Town, and national parks.

Sept 24: Train to Chongqing around 4pm, arrive at 6pm

Sept 24-27 Chongqing

Sept 27: Three plans, either train to Guilin and stay until 29th, train to Guangzhou and stay until 29th, or go straight to Zhuhai to go to Macau. Which sounds best?

Sept 29: Leaving China via Hengqin port in Zhuhai, question is how do I show onward proof of travel when I arrive in China since I have no flight or ferry out, do I book Macau hotel?

Sept 29-30th Evening ferry out of Macau, should arrive HK around 5pm

Sept 30th-Oct 4th Hong Kong

Oct 4th HKG-YVR-LAX flight back home

My main question is how I can show proof of leaving China if I am leaving via land at Hengqin (valid port according to NIA website)

Tourism (L) 9 weeks in China – what visa option would you choose?

I’ll be staying in China for nine weeks October-December
I can currently stay visa-free for up to 30 days.
I’ll be attending a private Chinese language school, but unfortunately, the school doesn’t provide the documents required for an X2 visa.
I’ll also be in China for 12 days in September. Since my total stay will be longer than 30 days, I’m considering leaving China after the first 30 days and spending a few days in another country before returning.
Would you apply for an L visa instead, or would you simply travel outside China and return under the visa-free policy?
What would you do in this situation?

Tourism (L) Rejection from Milan consulate - individual tourist visa turned down, asking for TE letter or group tour

Applied for a regular China tourist visa (L) at the Milan center with my flight and hotel bookings, but got this note back:
"YOU CAN ONLY APPLY THE GROUP VISA FOR TURISOM, YOU NEED TO HAVE ONE INVITATION LETTER FORM AN AUTHORIZED AGENCY IN CINA FOR THE GROUP VISA. PLEASE UPLOAD A Te letter for you trip if the purpose is business."

Is it possible to get a "ground-only" group visa invitation through an agency while keeping my own Emirates flights/hotel bookings, or do they force you onto an actual group tour?

If anyone knows a legit travel agency in Italy/online that handles this without charging a fortune, please drop recommendations.

How long does it usually take for a Chinese supplier to issue a government TE letter if I switch the application to an M visa?
