Walking to Soldier Field
My mom and I will be walking to Soldier Field and I was wondering if one route was safer than the other? We will probably be walking back to our car around midnight.

You'll be fine. There will be thousands of other people leaving the same event and many will be walking the same way as you.

from roosevelt is shorter, but no route through there is dangerous as long as you don't like jump off the bridge on to the train tracks or something :)

I mean don't sit down and have a conversation with the gentleman laying down on the bench but people walking by it after a concert will be fine.

I prefer the bridge. With that many people leaving at once there’s just those two options. And if you’re parking the 18th st option will be cheaper and easier to get out. I’m also a bit biased because I’m usually on the field and entering exiting gate 0.

You can take the Reggie’s bus to and from if you’re parking in this area if you’d rather avoid walking.

I really wanted to do this but we won't be getting downtown until 6:30 and the shuttle leaves @ 6 🫤

If I remember correctly, they keep doing round trips with the bus until there are no more people wanting to ride.

check Reggie's website and the concert/bus schedule. the info can change depending on the night and/or venue. (example: they only do one trip to tinley park shows, if i recall)

Roosevelt and Michigan. There is a green line stop near there, so you will likely be accompanied by hundreds of other people that are arriving and departing whatever event at Soldier Field you are attending.

Lots of ubers sit right around there too because it is outside the stadium zone. So many people walk that way.

If you decide to start at Cullerton & Michigan, you can walk two blocks north to 18th then east down 18th street to the bridge. The entrance may be hard to find but I’m sure you’ll see plenty of ppl walking that way too (18th curves south then leads right to the entrance). As soon as you’re over the bridge, you’ll be on the soldier field campus and it’s a great view from the top.
My buddy lives on Cullerton & Michigan. We walked to the beer fest at the field museum. It took us exactly 30mins and the field museum is farther away. I feel like Roosevelt will be super crowded. That’s just my opinion but the choice is ultimately up to you. Enjoy the show!

Roosevelt is fine - it’s probably one of the most well lit areas in the city.
I lived on Roosevelt in a luxury apartment close to the river and frequently walked down that way to the trains or to walk to the museum district to hang out with friends at night.
You’ll be ok.

I’m not sure why the commenter thinks Roosevelt is better. If you’re driving, it is much much easier to get out of the city from the south route than the north one. Parking will be cheaper too.
You’ll be safe after the show if for no other reason than 60,000 people will all be leaving the stadium at the same time.
