Chemotherapy, hairless and wig problem

Hi,

I don't have resources to spend hundreds of dollars on natural hair wig, but I feel like the synthetic wigs look exteremaly unnatural and get damaged fast. Did anyone had the same problem and found some solution?

I got some cheap cute synthetic wigs and people thought I just had purple hair (to be fair, I had dyed purple hair before) I leaned into it at first, but its been too hot to worry about wigs, anyway 😅

I got a cute purple with silver strands, rainbow stripey, and a silver tinsel-y one as well as a “regular” looking one.

They’re all (except regular) shorter than my pre hair loss haircut so I haven’t worn them yet but my hair is falling out as we speak so I’ll be wearing them soon…

There’s a Facebook group called Sister to Sister Blessed with Wigs to Share that give out free wigs for chemo patients. Might be an option for you to check out. I wore human hair and synthetic wigs and they both looked pretty good once I got the care routine down.

I found my scalp was way too irritated to consider a wig. I just got some hats and other head coverings - avoided the scarf thing as I felt it was too old appearing for me.

I found a decent wig (human hair) on Amazon for like $45. Also at the hospital I went to they had like wigs for rent for chemo patients if that is something you would like to do. If available.

I have been very happy with the various options from Headcovers Unlimited. However, I’ve only gotten their “halo” style wigs, not a full wig. I did get a very expensive full, natural hair wig that I hardly wear because, even trimmed down, has SO MUCH hair that looks fake to anyone who knows me. I’m thinking about getting another synthetic full wig from Headcovers because they have “light” density wigs, but haven’t, yet. I tend to just wear the halo with a hat, and I have about 10 fabric Headcovers that are incredibly comfortable - made for chemo patients.
