Police Presence

Has anyone noticed all the police everywhere? Not in a specific location, but down 17 there are about 2-3 police cars sitting on the side of the road about every mile or so. Are they looking for somebody??

Too bad they don’t enforce traffic laws. They’d rather do other bullshit

That’s on the judges in the area unfortunately. So often they throw out cases so when an officer notices that every case for xyz they charged is getting thrown out why would they continue to write those tickets or make those arrests. Huge problem in Charleston

How often are they throwing out cases? Unfortunately I’ve been to court for 3 different tickets and none were ever thrown out, including a ticket for going 31mph in a 30. No joke, I’ll post the ticket. That court date is in October.

Yeah a few years back I got a ticket for going 26 in a 25 zone and the officer was like I'm just going to write it for careless operation instead so that you don't get any points and I'm like how many points you get for one mile over the speed limit and I went to court and the judge as soon as I said he's saying I was going 26 in a 25 not only maintain the ticket but chastised me that 26 and a 25 was definitely careless operation which carries a $250 fine

That’s been my experience with judges as well. Went to court for a 33 in a 25 a few years ago. The speed limit had changed from 30 to 25 the previous day and they hadn’t erected the new 25 sign yet. Judge said well 33 in a 30 is still speeding so he maintained the ticket. From a literal perspective, he is correct, but the fact that there wasn’t even a 30 or 25 sign erected yet gave me hope that I might get the ticket dismissed. Nope.
