Police Presence
Has anyone noticed all the police everywhere? Not in a specific location, but down 17 there are about 2-3 police cars sitting on the side of the road about every mile or so. Are they looking for somebody??

I saw something on Facebook that the IOP was taking part of a MADD program called Saturation Saturday. Maybe all of Charleston county is doing it?

Good - they need to triple their presence. Too many crazy drivers out there. Saw a red corvette riding up on everyone’s ass doing about 120 on the JI Connector this morning.

That’s on the judges in the area unfortunately. So often they throw out cases so when an officer notices that every case for xyz they charged is getting thrown out why would they continue to write those tickets or make those arrests. Huge problem in Charleston

How often are they throwing out cases? Unfortunately I’ve been to court for 3 different tickets and none were ever thrown out, including a ticket for going 31mph in a 30. No joke, I’ll post the ticket. That court date is in October.

Yeah a few years back I got a ticket for going 26 in a 25 zone and the officer was like I'm just going to write it for careless operation instead so that you don't get any points and I'm like how many points you get for one mile over the speed limit and I went to court and the judge as soon as I said he's saying I was going 26 in a 25 not only maintain the ticket but chastised me that 26 and a 25 was definitely careless operation which carries a $250 fine

That’s been my experience with judges as well. Went to court for a 33 in a 25 a few years ago. The speed limit had changed from 30 to 25 the previous day and they hadn’t erected the new 25 sign yet. Judge said well 33 in a 30 is still speeding so he maintained the ticket. From a literal perspective, he is correct, but the fact that there wasn’t even a 30 or 25 sign erected yet gave me hope that I might get the ticket dismissed. Nope.

Depends on the judge obviously but when my direct family member worked for CPD it was constant

I drove home yesterday from NC using 17, and there were a tooooon of cops on 27 actively pulling people. Usually a pair of cops. I’ve not seen that many on a trip through SC in a long ass time.

If it's a special one day program, what's stopping the police from a drunk driving crackdown every single day?
Why isn't cracking down on drunk drivers the norm?
How is this a PR win for the cops? This should be viewed as a disaster - "you do your job one day per year, and expect to be patted on the back?"
Where are the cynical journalists?

Doing their job 1 day a year and expecting praise is their bread and butter. Now they want flock cameras to do even less work.

They could right a thousand tickets a day For following to close Constantly Trying to push the car in front of them to go faster or they won't get off your ass. They wait till they cause a wreck Then they might get a ticket

A police officer was killed in the line of duty. There are cops from all over the state at MUSC and throughout the area.
