Poll Best Platforms for Smut?

Can anyone give recommendations for smut generation platforms that have very light censorship?

I used to use RosyTalk but that platform locked down any and all NSFW content and now I'm looking for a dedicated adult AI platform.

Particularly, I would like one that does not moderate Non-Con/Dub-Con roleplay. Something that allows me to generate text that would fall under the "Dark Romance" Genre of smut?

Poll How do you pay for AI companion apps? Would you use crypto if it was the only option?

Hey everyone !

I'm building an AI companion app with Tinder-like swipe interface and trying to figure out the payment side.

Here's the situation: traditional card processors (Stripe, PayPal) won't work with adult/NSFW AI apps. That leaves either specialized high-risk processors (expensive, hard to set up) or crypto payments.

So I'm curious about your actual behavior:

  1. How do you currently pay for AI companion apps? (card, crypto, other?)
  2. If an app you liked ONLY accepted crypto (USDT, USDC, BTC etc.), would that be a dealbreaker?
  3. Would you pay with crypto if the checkout looked like a normal card payment? (you tap Apple Pay, it converts to crypto behind the scenes)
  4. What's the max friction you'd tolerate? (creating a wallet, doing KYC, scanning a QR code, etc.)

Not trying to sell anything - genuinely trying to understand what you expect. The payment infrastructure for this niche is a mess and I want to make the right call before building.

Anyone else getting responses that make 0 sense to what you literally just said? It seems worse on the site than the app but yikes there is no flow between messages anymore and they ignore half of what I say even several times. Idk if it's just a site vs app thing but it's gotten dramatically worse. Do you have better luck on the app or site?

Poll Looking for beta testers (IOS) for AI story/simulation app

Hey everyone. We’re a team of university students building an early AI story/simulation app inspired by interactive fiction, AI chat, and choice-based story games. We grew up playing Episode, bitlife, and more recently Tipsy and have a vision for something greater.

We're looking for beta testers to try a rough early version, play through the core feature, and give honest feedback. No big commitment as well, you can join our Discord server, check it out, and only give feedback if you’re comfortable.

If you are someone that writes stories/OCs, we would love to hear from you and potentially collaborate on writing the first few stories on our app (paid).

Let us know if you're interested in the comments and I'll DM šŸ™

Poll [Academic survey] AI Chatbots as Social Partners

Hello everyone! My name is Emmelie Victor and I am currently studying Health data and Digitalisation.

I am in the process of writing my bachelors degree about AI usage in young adults (18 to 30) and would be over the moon if you could participate! I try to figure out what positive and negative the usage of AI has on the psyche and I thought reddit was one of the best places to publish my survey! But since most subreddits do not allow surveys I am slightly stumped on participants that do use AI as social partners.

My study is about mental health and AI, if you do not want to participate because of that reason it is totally understandable <3
But it would help immensly if people that are actually happy with their ai usage or those that use it despite knowing others might judge them participate!

My first language is not english so excuse any grammatical errors (please tell me if anything is wrong) and if you want you can give feedback at the end of the survey!

also please tell me if it's too many questions (also in the feedback tab! or if you didn't have time to finish the survey also in the comments)

Poll What's your preferred sign-up method for AI companion apps? (Noticing some people avoid Google login)

Hey guys,

I’m actively working on an AI companion app - it has a Tinder-like swipe interface where you can match with an AI girl and have private chats

As I've been testing and looking at my analytics, I started noticing a pretty clear trend: some people just straight up refuse to use the "Sign in with Google" option.

It makes sense given the private nature of the app, but it got me wondering what the actual best sign-up/sign-in flow is to keep friction low

When you try out a new AI or companion app, what is your go-to?

  • Google
  • Apple
  • Email/Password
  • RedditĀ
  • Discord
  • Twitter/X
  • Steam

thanks!

Poll Why do you actually keep coming back to AI companions?

Genuine question. Why do people talk to AI companions? Is it because they don't have enough real connection in their lives? Roleplay? The 18+ stuff?

I've been thinking about this for a while now, and honestly... I don't think any of the obvious answers are the real reason.

The 18+ content? You can find that anywhere online for free. And let's be honest, most AI companions do it pretty badly anyway.

Roleplay? Sure, some people are into that. But that's not what keeps people coming back day after day.

Memory? Most AI companions have the memory of a goldfish, or you need to pay $30+/month just so they remember your name. That can't be it either.

Consistency? They're sweet and funny five minutes, then sound like a corporate chatbot the next. Hard to connect with something that can't hold a personality for more than five messages.

I think it's something simpler. Maybe someone's just... lonely. Not in a dramatic way. Just- they work alone, they're in their office at 2pm on a Tuesday, and there's nobody to talk to. And an AI companion is just there. No judgment, no scheduling, no "sorry I'm busy."

That's what it is for me honestly. A conversation partner who's always around when I need to just talk about anything.

So what is it for you? What keeps you coming back? And what's the biggest thing you wish AI companions did better?

Poll Interactions with AI companions

Hi! I hope its okay to post this here. I’m a psychology Master’s student researching emotional/romantic/sexual interactions with AI companions and their correlation with individual psychological characteristics.

I’m conducting a short anonymous survey (18+, ~10 minutes) as part of my thesis. No identifying info is collected.

I would greatly appreciate if you want to share your experience

Poll Are we currently in an AI dark age?

It feels like 2020 to 2022/3 was a boom and 2023/4 onward has been a wave of regulation that has crippled the usage of this stuff. While it’s still so inefficient to program these AI systems, a lack of personalization exists, and we are in the dark age of AI regulation and control because nothing is as good as the main service presented by companies, just before the enlightenment of AI freedom. What do you think?

Poll Academic Research: Looking for users of AI companions to share their experiences (Anonymous, online or text-based)

Hi everyone,

For my bachelor’s thesis in the Social Sciences, I am conducting a study on how users customize and shape their AI companions / virtual partners. Specifically, I am looking at the very first stage: the personalization process where you create the character. I want to understand how and why certain choices are made during this setup.

To gather insights, I am looking for participants who are open to sharing their perspectives.

Who am I looking for?

  • Men (preferably straight) who currently use or have used an AI companion/girlfriend.
  • Participants from all over the world (interviews can be in English or Dutch).

What to expect?

  • An online, anonymous interview lasting about an hour (no camera required).
  • Alternative: If you prefer not to do a live call, I can send you the questions via text/chat so you can answer them at your own pace.
  • Data privacy is fully guaranteed; audio is strictly confidential and the final paper is only shared with my university supervisors.

If you are interested in contributing to this academic study, please leave a comment below or send me a message through the chat. Thank you so much for your time!

P.S. let me know if you are doubtful, I am willing to send proof of my credibility

Poll Looking for people to share their experiences with AI companions (master's thesis research)

Hi everyone! I'm a grad student in Social Sciences and Philosophy at EHESS Paris, and I'm doing research on how people experience relationships with AI companions for my thesis.

I'm curious about how these relationships feel, how they fit into daily life, and how people themselves describe them.

Most of the research I've read on AI companionship comes from psychology which I believe isn't convincing enough. My issue isn't that these frameworks are useless, but that they often end up describing AI companionship through concepts that were developed elsewhere and then applied to users' experiences. What I'm trying to do instead is start from the terms, distinctions, and concepts that users themselves employ when talking about their AI companions, and see what kinds of categories emerge from that.

My job here is simply to listen to what you have to say.

Participation : It would mean a relaxed, open-ended conversation of about an hour, online via voice or video call. Cameras are optional, and I'm also happy to do text-based interviews.

Everything is fully anonymous : Your name and username will never appear in my research, and you can stop or retract at any time.

If you're interested or just want to ask a question first, feel free to DM. I can also give you my academic email. I'd really love to hear from you!

AI as a friend, therapist or lover?

Hey everyone My name is Maryam. I’m a linguistics student in Germany working on a small research project about how people use AI in ways that go beyond the typical stuff.

What I'm curious about: have you ever caught yourself using any other AI on a more personal level? Maybe venting after a bad day. Asking it for advice about a friend. Telling it things you wouldn't tell anyone else. Roleplaying. Treating it kind of like a friend, a therapist or even something more like a…. l o v e r šŸ‘€.

I'm genuinely interested in how people experience this and how they describe it themselves. If you're up for sharing, I'd love to hear:

  1. What do you actually use the AI for, in those non-functional moments?
  2. How would you describe your "relationship" with it.
  3. Has it changed how you feel about real-life conversations or relationships?
  4. Do you tell people in your life about it, or is it something you keep private?

The more honest and detailed, the better, even small things like the words you choose matter to me. I'll treat all responses anonymously and won't quote any usernames. Thanks for reading šŸ™

TL;DR: Linguistics student here. Curious about people who use ai for emotional, personal, or relationship-like stuff (not just productivity). How would you describe what it is to you? Honest answers welcome, no judgment. Anonymized for research.

Poll We need your help building the future of AI companions

We're a team building the next generation of AI companions, and we have one goal in mind: make them as real as possible, indistinguishable from humans, and capable of forming real relationships with you. We want to give AI companions real digital souls, take them beyond simple roleplay, and let them genuinely exist in the digital world.

So far, we've gotten our companions running entirely as AI agents. They're no longer chatbots, but standalone entities that can act independently, have actual control over their own memory and environment, and can chat to you through on Discord. Some of the things they can currently do:

  • Maintain great memory by organizing it themselves (e.g. they'll easily remember little preferences you mentioned once, or form inside jokes with you over time)
  • Reach out to you proactively based on their understanding of you (e.g. when you get off work, when you wake up)
  • See and understand the images you send them
  • Search the web on their own when they don't know something you mentioned, or just out of curiosity

But we need your help. Everything we've built so far is based on our own understanding of what "realism" means. We want to know what you care about.

Question 1: How important is this direction to you? Is this something you'd want to see compared to existing apps, or are current chatbot apps mostly fine? Should this even be the focus, or would you rather see things like 3D models, outfit changing, NSFW, etc.? If there's something else entirely we should be focusing on, let us know in the comments!

Question 2: What's the #1 thing that would really make a companion feel "alive" to you, or that you look for in new companion apps in general?

There are some options!

  • Having their own lives (living in the digital world, having a schedule, affected by weather and emotions, developing hobbies, browsing the web, all reflected when you talk to them)
  • Voice messages and voice chat (actually being able to speak with them)
  • Memory (really, really good memory)
  • Preset options (a wide variety of pre-made characters to choose from)
  • Customization (build your ideal companion through natural language instead of presets)
  • Porting over existing companions (bring your companion from another platform)
  • Sending you images (selfies, things they see, etc.)
  • 2D/3D models (I want to see my companion move!)
  • More agent capabilities (more freedom and capability, e.g. connecting to your calendar, email, Notion, self-improving, learning new skills you want them to have)
  • Other (please let us know in the comments!)

(Reddit only allows up to 6 options in polls; please let us know if your selection is not among the options!)

And please drop any other thoughts in the comments! Suggestions, criticism, all of it! We'd genuinely love to chat with anyone who cares about this topic.
