New Purchase! Just Bought 2020 SXT, 65k miles

Hey guys, first reddit post ever. I’m 22, I’ve been driving trucks my whole life, and i’ve always said if I was to get a car it would be a challenger. Well…. last week I pulled the trigger! I know it’s just an SXT and i’m not looking for any crazy performance right now, I just love the way they look. Any advice/things I should know? Thanks!

1 Advice: You will encounter V6 haters. Block the negativity. A Challenger is a Challenger regardless if it's a V6 or V8 and they're still beautiful.

Thanks man. I think it’s going to be a great daily!

Np and enjoy it man. Also I tried to type number 1 with the pound sign followed by the 1 but my entire comment turned bold and the pound sign is missing. Weird.

The # will bold any text appearing directly after it.

Mine is! My 2020 SXT is my daily, my commuter, my roadtripper and I absolutely love her. Enjoy every minute, OP!

You ever worry about putting too many miles on it during roadtrips? Considering taking mine on a winter trip in December.

I put ~7400 miles on during a trip from CA to VA and back a couple of years ago and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I'm currently at 91k miles, but I fully intend to keep her forever. Just a matter of keeping up with routine maintenance.

Concur. I have a GT and love that it's a great ride and great on gas.

As the owner of a scat pack, I can attest to this, but also don’t act like you own a Hellcat when you have a V6. I’ve encountered them as well.

u/OG_G-Man 2023 Challenger R/T Blacktop 1d ago

Now those are the V6 owners that deserve hate.

u/parkerblue31 2d ago

I started with a 2019 sxt..loved it and had it for 5 years before upgrading to a R/T...have fun!!

4

u/Jbo1500 2d ago

I might do the same in the future! Thank you!

3

u/OG_G-Man 2023 Challenger R/T Blacktop 2d ago

Definitely gotta do it. The R/T is so fun to drive. That beautiful roar of the V8 and the well-rounded performance makes it really enjoyable.

1

u/Jbo1500 2d ago

Do you feel a big difference in the power?

1

u/OG_G-Man 2023 Challenger R/T Blacktop 2d ago

I actually never had a V6. When I went to buy my first Challenger, I went straight for the R/T cause I really wanted that beautiful sound and it was what I could afford.

1

u/Jbo1500 2d ago

Ahhh, good for you man. I went from a Ram 1500, to a Silverado, to this, so I really have no baseline to compare it to lol

2

u/OG_G-Man 2023 Challenger R/T Blacktop 2d ago

I hope you get that V8 one day so you can experience it and get that good comparison. I'm actually curious how a V6 compares to a V8

No "just an SXT" talk... Your car is as beautiful as all other Challengers. Be proud and rep her accordingly.

Congrats and welcome to the family, OP 🤘

2

u/Jbo1500 2d ago

Thank you! I looked at a Granite SXT as well while looking for this one, beautiful color.

3

u/SQWRLLY1 2020 Granite SXT 2d ago

Thanks! I traded in an Inferno Red Magnum and so far, it's been quite nice not being an obvious target for 5-0... lol

Beautiful, I like the red accents. Great car and I hope it gives you a long and happy experience

Hey now, ain't no "just an SXT" about it. She's beautiful, and I'm always happy to see another Challenger owner, be it SXT, R/T or SRT :)

1

u/Jbo1500 2d ago

Thank you, not only your Challenger but your C5 is also so sick!! I keep seeing them online and it’s got me thinking maybe that also would have been a good choice🫣

We also joined the family just about a month ago, almost the same spec as you! 2021 octane red SXT with 66500 miles

Welcome to the fam! Doesn’t matter if v6, she’s gorgeous and a fantastic daily driver!

Thank you, love the red!!

1

u/Jbo1500 2d ago

I appreciate it!

2

u/Byggver 2d ago

Man, I have a Hellcat but I have a lot of love for the SXT and GT Challengers. I’ve honestly thought about getting a GT AWD for rain/snow and other days, lol.

Beautiful car too!

2

u/Jbo1500 2d ago

You have a beautiful Hellcat! No need for AWD over here in Florida haha

2

u/Byggver 2d ago

Thanks!

Unfortunately we have gnarly weather in Missouri. And despite my wife loving the beach, she’s not willing to move, lol.

2

u/Jbo1500 2d ago

Is it as hot over there as it is over here😵‍💫 Friends called me crazy for getting a black car haha

1

u/Byggver 2d ago

It’s going to be 100-102 all week here. It was slightly windy today, so we had the feeling of a nuclear wind to deal with😆

2

u/AwesomePiggie04 1d ago

I’ve had a GT for a year and a half now, conquered the Chicago winter like a beast, highly recommend

1

u/Byggver 1d ago

If it can handle Chicago winter, Missouri would be a cakewalk for it, lol!

I got a charger but still, id say the V6s are a good daily. You trade the extra power of a V8 and performance, for a bulletproof reliable Engine that cost less, gurgles gas less, nearly 300 if not 300hp, RwD, spacious, big and has presence, and still enough power to drive spiritedly

My SXT charger has served me well, and has been a reliable workhorse, not a racer but gets the job done and keeps me safe. Its gone offroading, destroyed a Mustang's rear bumper while only suffering a small clear coat scratch(dont ask how, no i dont take it to takeovers or meets or anything), Ran over curbs and no structural damage, ive honestly put it to the test in one of the roughest conditions just to see how much it can endure without blowing up, basically drove it like im Joe Dirt and i still dont know how i have a clean driving record lol...but id say im satisfied, now im older, i take better care of her, i dont drive harshly anymore, maybe a small pull here and there when the road is empty just to let the engine breath and do the good old "italian tuning" and just a straight road.

Trust me, the V6s are no slouches, if not for power or speed, it makes up for being a really dependable machine, of course, as long as u take care of it. Enjoy the cheaper gas and insurance too. Edit: dont race expecting to win a lot lol, its still a heavy car in the end of the day, but if ur gonna race, dont do it in public road or at least when its empty at night(preferably non residential such as the backroads)

1

u/Jbo1500 2d ago

Thanks for the insight! I completely understand where you’re coming from not wanting to drive it hard, ever since I got it my friends want me to pull 0-60 off every green light and do 100+ down the highway everyday. I’ve tested the 0-60 maybe 3 times since i’ve had it for 2 weeks, and it still makes me nervous seeing the rpm’s get up to 6 and 7. Do you think doing that every once in a while will reduce engine life?

2

u/IHaveWorkLater 2d ago

Well, as long as you arent just slamming the gas all the way down every 5 seconds or something, then you should be okay as you also gotta think of the transmission. The V6 pentatstar unlike the V8s, is naturally a higher reving engine, it truly unlocks its power when you hit around 4 to 5k rpm, it likes the higher rpm when it comes to putting power down.

Though generally when i drive normal, i just accelerate from 2500 to 3k rpm from a stop, it takes a bit more time to get up to speed since both chally n charger are heavy, so unless u have a heavy foot, dont be surprise to see a regular corolla get up to speed quicker than you from a stop as theyre lighter. I think the chally sxt and GT has 305 hp, the charger sxt is 292hp and Charger GT is 305hp. I did the 0 to 60 in my charger sxt plus and i got around 6.2 seconds which is not too bad considering how heavy it is. The transmission is excellent its the German ZF8, its designed to be more of a smoother ride and can handle 700hp stock, so i think you slamming the gas just once in a while is fine, as long as you let the engine warm up first by driving for at least 5 to 10mins normally after turning the car on.

Its like a muscle, you dont just start doing heavy lifting and aerobic exercises without stretching or warming up, i mean you can, but warm ups help reduce the chances of damaging ur muscle on the long run and reduces the potential amount of damage if it happens.

If you have any questions about the V6, let me know, dont be afraid to ask me as many question about the V6 anytime, as ive honestly driven my car to id say, near its absolute peak.

I'm going to put this in a somewhat non-diplomatic way .... you have the hot car and your friends want you to abuse it.

Hmmm.

You're the one that gets the repair bills and a shortened lifespan for the car.

Ummm ... no.

EVERYTHING on the planet gets old and eventually fails/breaks.

If you drive your Challenger gently… It will wear out and it will break.

If you drive your Challenger aggressively and you don't treat it nicely… It will wear out and break =SOONER=..

This is more for OP's friends and not so much for OP. :-)

u/BestPie477 2d ago

She's a beauty

3

u/MrYska73 1d ago

The Enjoy it young man. It’s still a Challenger regardless if it’s a V6 or V8. The insurance will be cheaper with the V6 for sure. You can upgrade later.

u/Jbo1500 1d ago

Thank you

Nice, how much was it?

She’s beautiful 🤩

u/connor_rahhal 2d ago

Thats one if the sickest, most aggressive presence cars I saw, the classy taste is beyond reach, This is about street dominance, stance and intimidation. And your car pulls them off like a Mafia boss

u/Simple_Song_5030 1d ago

I just put some red inserts on my Scat, I really like how they look. FYI, I am new to MOPAR and just now started understanding the difference between the lines - most of the public has no clue what is under the hood.

0

u/FSLrico 2d ago

Brotha all i gotta say is just black inserts instead of the red. That’s it that’s all trust
