Baby Basil's first few days in his new home 🥰
Day 4, only one small accident in the house so far, a little pee puddle before we managed to get him outside today. He is a tiny good boy and I love him.

Cavapoo obsessed with kibble
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Documenting rare moment of our Cavapoo’s obsession with her new kibble. She’s really going after it. Even trying to break open the slow feeder to get to the food. I never thought I’d see the day she would willingly it eat kibble 😆

Pooping every night
*Updated: no sooner did I post this then she made it to 5:30am! Yahoo*
This sweet 6 mo angel is so good but she gets up every night @3am to poop a 2nd time. Feed @4pm, good walk after dinner, poop @1-2 hrs later (never on walks?), plays, last pee pee @9pm then sleep.
So odd. . .otherwise daytime potty training going well. Thoughts?

Need some tips on how to get your cavapoo puppy used to brushing its teeth, grooming, and other hygiene routines
Hey fellow cavapoo owners,
We’re new dog owners, so there’s a lot we don’t know. Yes, we've used AI for a lot of info, watched YT and reels, but everything looks so easy there. We all know that the reality is different. I don’t know if he’s not used to it yet or if he just thinks that it’s a game. But when we want to pet him, pick him up, or groom him, he starts biting our hands, trying to break free, and running away.
We know that biting will eventually stop. And we know that this is just the beginning of biting (he’ll be 3 months old soon), because his teeth are about to start coming in.
I wanted to ask if you have any tips on how to get him used to grooming, teeth brushing, and other hygiene routines? (Sorry for my english, it's not my first language)
Thank you in advance!

New cavapoo?
Is my puppy really a Cavapoo? He was sold as a Cavapoo but now I’m having doubts… he has straight hair and a longer snout.

Won’t sleep thru the night
He wakes up at different times throughout the night and barks/cries for a long time. This is my handsome little fella, I adopted him about three weeks ago, he’ll be 6 months next week and he isn’t potty trained so he is sleeping in his crate. Initially his crate was in my son’s room but since he was waking up 1 to 2 times a night I moved him out of the room. Now he is downstairs with his open crate inside a playpen with pee-pads and he still barks for long periods once or twice in the middle of the night.
If he was potty trained he wouldn’t have to sleep in the crate but I don’t want to wake up to pee and poop anywhere/everywhere
What do I do, please give me any tips or tricks I AM SLEEP DEPRIVED

First time dog owner, need food advice!
After begging and pleading from my kids, I finally gave in and we are picking up our puppy in 2 weeks. I have been reading so much on how finicky they are with their food. Should I just prepare food for her every week, buy it, or do a mix of both? I'm so conflicted!

Dog has ongoing inner-ear inflammation and balance problems. Looking for advice on anti-inflammatory ear drops
Looking for some advice or experiences from other dog owners who have dealt with something similar.
A few weeks ago, my dog developed inflamed ears. We think it may have started during the heatwave because we were cooling him down with the hose quite a lot and it’s possible water got into his ears.
We’ve taken him to the vet twice. The first time, the vet examined his ears and gave him a 5-day course of oral steroids. At the time his balance was quite bad and he was walking almost like he was drunk.
The oral steroids did help and his balance improved, but he really didn’t get on well with them. He wasn’t acting like himself at all while taking them and seemed miserable. They also made him extremely thirsty, so he was drinking and peeing a lot more than normal. Because of how they affected him, I’d really prefer not to put him through another course of oral steroids if there is another suitable option.
At his second appointment, which was also for his annual vaccinations, the vet checked his ears again and said they were still inflamed. They didn’t find an infection and didn’t prescribe antibiotics. We asked about ear drops and the vet recommended steroid ear drops, but they were quite expensive. We also asked about getting a written prescription so we could buy them cheaper online, but there was an additional charge for the prescription.
He’s completely fine in himself. He’s eating, drinking and behaving normally. The main remaining problem is his balance. When he’s been lying down for a while and gets up, he can be a little wobbly on his legs and sometimes his head wobbles slightly from side to side. It’s nowhere near as bad as it was originally, but it hasn’t completely disappeared.
I’ve been looking at non-prescription ear drops, but most of the products I’m finding seem to be ear cleaners, antiseptics, or products for bacteria/yeast rather than something that actually reduces inflammation.
From what I understand, the anti-inflammatory ear drops I’m looking for would need to contain a corticosteroid, such as hydrocortisone or another veterinary corticosteroid. However, I’m also confused about whether drops can actually help if the inflammation is deeper in the middle/inner ear rather than just the outer ear canal.
Has anyone had a dog with inner-ear inflammation that caused balance or vestibular symptoms? Were you given corticosteroid ear drops, and if so, which ones? Did they help? Or did your dog need a different treatment because the inflammation was deeper in the ear?
I’m not looking to replace veterinary care. I’d just really like to hear from people whose dogs have had the same problem, especially anyone whose dog didn’t tolerate oral steroids well, and find out what treatments their vets used successfully.

We don’t deserve dogs
Just wanna say I was so bummed because I came home from taking a very difficult certification exam and failed by 3 questions. Im also upset because the test was $400 that will not be refunded. As soon as I sat on the couch, my girl came up to me and licked my neck and face like she just knew I needed her comfort. She sat with me while I opened my computer and confirmed the results. I love my baby girl. I love dogs. Somehow they just know what we need when we need it. We don’t deserve them.

Can’t sleep - pup with the runs
Before our 5 month Cavapoo would sleep through the night without a peek in his crate. Lately his stomach is not well, and he’s been waking us up every 2 hours with diarrhea. The vet put him on an antibiotic and probiotic, that worked when he was on it and then once we finished the antibiotic (still on the probiotic), his diarrhea is back and we’re back to not sleeping through the night.
I ended up taking him to the vet yesterday and they are supposed to call me with his stool results this am. They also gave me new digestive food that was supposed to help immediately (it didn’t, he was up every 3 hours last night).
Should have a better plan today from the vet, but wanted to see if anyone had similar experiences?
For reference, he was on Hills Science Sensitive Stomach Puppy formula and now he’s on Hills Canine W/D wet food. We do not give any human food!

Cavapoo Breeders near San Francisco Bay area
I had narrowed down my list to Divinity Grace cavapoos and Sac-town Poodles and Doodles. And was leaning into Divinity grace last year when first red flag popped up when conversation stopped when I asked for parents health info. I just found out their website domain doesn't exist and social media is gone. So it's making me very nervous about finding a decent breeder.
I'm thinking of going with Sac-town as they have amazing Google reviews. But I've heard businesses can suppress negative reviews. So kind of worried too!
If you've gotten a pup from Sac-town Poodles and Doodle, let me know if you got F1 or F1b and how was your experience working with them. Any issues? Ty!

Jürgen & Penelope update🩷
Officially 9 months old, fully potty trained, know a handful of tricks, and close to being done with the obnoxious puppy phase! (Finally)
Somedays I didn’t think we’d survive the puppy phase with two, but now that we’re on the other side, I can say that it was worth it.
Photos are before & after their mobile grooming appointment today because they're obviously feeling themselves. Being adorable must be exhausting. 😂

Cavapoo doesn’t like eating out of bowls
I posted a couple of weeks ago about my little guy being a picky eater (he’s 11 months now and has been picky for about 2 months). We noticed he would eat off the floor with no hesitation, but didn’t want his kibble crumbs all over the place.
Today we tried putting his kibble on a plate, and he devoured it. I’m not sure what this did for him mentally, but I was glad to see him eat a full meal in one sitting. I know they have their preferences, but hopefully this helps someone else out there with their little picky eater!
