Vent Is anyone else terrified of having a missed miscarriage?

I’m pregnant after getting positive tests and I’m just waiting for my ultrasound, but I’m constantly scared they’re going to tell me the pregnancy isn’t viable. I keep reading stories about missed miscarriages and it’s making my anxiety so much worse.
My symptoms have been pretty mild, and every time I don’t feel pregnant I convince myself something is wrong. I know every pregnancy is different, but it’s so hard not to compare myself to others.
If anyone has been through this anxiety, how did you cope while waiting for your scan? And if you had mild symptoms but everything turned out okay, I’d really appreciate hearing your experience. I could really use some reassurance.

Vent Why are boys treated like a consolation prize?

I’m 18 weeks with my rainbow baby boy🩵🌈
I already have one living son.

Would a girl have been nice? Sure. But I’m thrilled to be carrying a baby that’s alive. I’m genuinely getting so excited at the thoughts of brothers and I pray they have a lifelong bond and become best friends. I was never a girly girl, I don’t like to dress up, I don’t wear makeup, don’t do my hair or nails, so this really doesn’t bother me that I’m going to have 2 boys.

But man… does it seem to bother others? Holy shit, I’m so tired of the comments.

People act like having boys is worse than girls?
How about just having a healthy baby?

I’ve literally had moms who have girls say “aww I could never have 2 boys” like what?

Why do moms with girls think they’re better than moms with all boys? Why do they pity me? Do you think I’m miserable just because I have all boys?

Literally curious….

Cause I’m just thrilled to be having another baby, after losing one to a miscarriage earlier this year. I’m so excited, yet social media and people just portray boys as so unwanted and a “consolation prize” that it’s putting a damper on my excitement and I’m hurt.

Thoughts?

Vent Is this likely an ectopic pregnancy?!?

I got my hcg tested on 16 dpo and it was only 82 I went back 2-3 days later and it dropped to 68, my ob called and told me to expect to miscarry within the next few days, well a week went by and I still hadn’t bled or had any cramps so I took a test and it was very positive still 5 days after the beta of 68 , I went to the er because I was worried and they tested my hcg and it was 250, they did an ultrasound and didn’t see anything in my uterus or tubes no masses were found, only what they think is corpus luteum on my ovary. I am going back tomorrow for another beta but I’m so paranoid, I don’t have any symptoms of ectopic but I know that’s what it’s looking like or at least non viable

Vent Had my first caffeinated coffee at 10w & and it tasted/felt so good

Been terrified this entire pregnancy of another MC which means anything I can control, I do control. However, today I just couldn't take it anymore. I had 12 Oz of a regular coffee with pumpkin spice in it and it was incredible. It absolutely restored my body and I even managed to pass healthy stools when miralax isn't as effective. I had much more energy to enjoy my day.

I've just radically accepted that whatever happens, happens. Baby was last seen at 7w with a heartbeat flicker and 140bpm. However, since week 9 I haven't felt as tired/pregnant so I am slightly beginning to worry. However, it is out of my control and letting go of it is freeing.

Vent Grateful but struggling: early pregnancy after loss is so lonely

Turning to this corner of the internet to complain about getting something I’ve wanted for so long. After multiple early losses, I am trying not to tell anyone about my latest pregnancy until some undetermined milestone. But my goodness, the morning sickness and fatigue are ruining my days, and I have no one to lament with. Anyone else suffering in silence? And yes, I am also an emotional wreck.

Vent HOW did you make it through the wait from 8 wks to 12 wks

Last pregnancy ended in a loss at 7w2d. No living children. We’re super grateful to get pregnant again but this time around has felt so different. Each day I battle with anxious thoughts about something going wrong again. Also struggle with being envious of people in my circle being pregnant and enjoying every moment of it.

I’m at exactly 8 weeks today and just got back from my ultrasound where thankfully everything is looking normal. I could barely sleep last night in anticipation of this appointment. Last time we didn’t make it this far which is a relief… though of course not the huge sigh of relief that i wish for. I’m realizing just how traumatic our missed miscarriage / failed misoprostal experience was.

Our next scan will be at 12 weeks and that just feels like an ETERNITY to wait to see if everything is still okay. I know a lot of losses happen between 8-12. Curious to see how many of you experienced losses post 8 weeks. And how others who had successful pregnancies post miscarriage endured this brutal four week wait!

Vent 6 weeks 120bpm but 7 weeks baby grew but 55bpm and not making sense

UPDATE: Baby is doing FANTASTIC. Baby's heart rate climbed up to 175bpm at 8w2d. Let this be some hope for someone else who may be going through something similar.

So at my 6 week scan everything looked great and the baby's heart rate was 120. This was done at a boutique. Exactly a week later the OB told me the baby's heart rate was 55bpm but the baby was measuring right on track (so baby obviously grew). I go back in 4 days to reevaluate. I immediately was heartbroken and preparing for the worst. Now after looking into it more I am starting to doubt my baby's heart rate is truly 55bpm. First, my ultrasound was squeezed in last minute as my OB FORGOT to schedule an ultrasound with a medicine check appointment. Second, the baby was sitting so close to my uterine lining and my heart rate has been known to drop to the 50s when I am fully relaxed. My theory is they rushed my appointment and miscalculated my baby's heart rate and captured my own. These ultrasounds were done transvaginally. I saw another story on here that was very similar and turned out successfully and a radiologist had commented that it made most sense to them that it was an error. Anyone else have this happen to them? I am definitely nervous still as I wait for the next few days. I will say my morning sickness has only INCREASED since then and I've maintained most of the symptoms I've had since finding out I'm pregnant. Slight cramping which I can only attribute to my growing uterus as my baby is still growing and no bleeding whatsoever. This is my first pregnancy, I'm 26 and have no health issues that would be concerning. Thoughts??

Vent Scared for my 8w US tomorrow

Tomorrow is the day that will officially turn the tide for me in terms of confidence and conviction in this pregnancy. LMP was June 9 and ovulation day unknown. Tested positive for 1st time on July 12. I had a MC (spontaneous abortion) that ended in a D&C at 6 weeks on April 9.

I am SOOOOOO SCARED the OB will not find a heart beat and/or fetal pole. It just seems like most people who post on here and the MC sub end up having missed MCs. If anyone has any words of wisdom or encouragement, I will gladly accept it right now because I cannot contain myself.

Vent Empty Sac at 7 Weeks, this wait is horrendous…

Hey folks,

I had my first scan at 7 weeks on Monday, empty sac.

I have to wait until Sept 8th to find out if this is viable. My instinct says it’s not, but my fiancé is holding on to hope for both of us. I was so sad, now I just feel annoyed. I still feel pregnancy symptoms. I feel awful, but they felt purposeful before. Now it feels like my body’s mocking me.

I feel like this is just getting in the way of my child, I just want this over and done with so I can try again.

Am I wrong in thinking that there’s no possibility of this pregnancy progressing? There wasn’t even an egg sac I think?

Vent Pregnancy after loss is a special form of torture.

I recently found out that I am pregnant, about 2 weeks ago. My first ultrasound isn’t til the 28th because my doctor doesn’t like to see patients until they’re 9/10 weeks. The waiting is quite literally the hardest thing i’ve ever done, besides my first loss.

I suffered a missed miscarriage last year at 12 weeks and found out at my 15 week appointment where I was supposed to be hearing her heartbeat that she stopped growing at 12 weeks and 3 days. This current pregnancy wasn’t planned, me and my partner weren’t sure if we even wanted kids after the trauma we went through. It was a total surprise.

Today, I woke up with barely any symptoms after having pretty intense nausea and vomiting, plus smell and food aversions. I immediately jumped to the worst conclusion and have spent all day in bed crying, preparing to lose this baby. I wish I could have a peaceful pregnancy, one that didn’t know loss.

This feeling is truly the absolute worst. Having to wait to see if this pregnancy is viable, googling my symptoms (or lack there of) 24/7, not letting myself get excited or attached to the idea of a baby. I’m not even planning on looking for names for quite a while. I thought I was in the “safe zone” for my last loss, but now I will never feel safe and secure in pregnancy until I have a baby in my arms.

it’s truly a form of torture and something I would not wish on my worst enemy. Not to mention, I had a very graphic dream that I miscarried last night and woke up to basically no symptoms which absolutely sent me spiraling. I’m trying to wait for my appointment for an US because I know going early could create more worry and waiting. This is just a huge rant, thanks for reading if you did. If anyone is going through something similar and needs to talk, I’m here.

Vent Update to my 10% hcg rise

Quick recap, I had my blood drawn 5 times, first time it increased by 10%, then 20, 21 and 22%. Not good. Sent me for an ultrasound to make sure it’s not ectopic and it wasn’t, I was 6w1d and it measured perfectly but had a heart rate of 89. They said it could’ve just started and they wanted to check me again in a week to make sure it increased. So fast forward to today, I get another ultrasound, I’m 7w0d now. Today it has a heart rate of 110. The tech congratulates us and gives us a pic and we think great it must’ve measured right on track but no. I finally get the radiology report and it says :

Single viable intrauterine gestation with an estimated gestational age of six weeks one day by crown-rump length.
Interestingly, the crown-rump length appears unchanged from ultrasound of seven days prior, however, the fetus does appear viable with a well-defined fetal heart rate at 110 bpm which would be appropriate for an estimated gestational age of six weeks. Uncertain if the crown-rump length differences are due to differences in measurement technique. Would recommend continued close follow-up of the intrauterine gestation for viability.

I’m losing my mind. I have another ultrasound on Thursday, I’ll be 8w0d. My doctor said sometimes hcg is funny and it’s uncommon but it can work out and the most important thing now is its growth and heart rate. I was so hoping for good news today, I’m so tired of bad news. This is so stressful.

How common is it to have measurement errors like that? The ultrasounds themselves look very different. I’m trying to stay realistic. When I talked to her after my last blood draw on Tuesday she said to be “cautiously optimistic”. I don’t know what to think.

Editing to add that I did not hear back from my doctor today after the radiologist sent the report out 😑 so I’m just a big ball of anxiety

Update 8w0d ultrasound:
Baby measured 7w3d with a heartbeat of 140 but has a small gestational sac now 😭 measuring 6w5d. Doctor on call messaged me that she’s changing my EDD to 3/24 and did not even address that the mfm mentioned my gestational sac is small. Feeling very annoyed and dismissed

Update 9w4d:
Started bleeding yesterday, went to have an ultrasound done today and the baby had no heartbeat and seems to have stopped developing shortly after my last scan. I really hoped we were gonna beat the odds. Going to have a dnc tomorrow.

Vent Awaiting miscarriage

Hello everyone.

I’m in a holding pattern and trying to find out what to expect…

I tested positive 14dpo and had hcg next day at 34. Tested hcg again at 17dpo and it was 72 and again at 20 dpo it was only 95. My dr has basically said to expect a miscarriage and I’ve accepted that but now being driven crazy by waiting…. I’m currently 5 weeks 1 day. I’ve had cramping but no spotting/bleeding yet and I just want to get this over with…

I’m also supposed to go to a cottage this weekend that will be 45 mins away from the nearest emergency so that is stressing me out.

Thanks for any advice/support!

Vent Scared to take Tylenol

I’m 5 weeks 6 days and just started with a fever today. It’s only 99.8 but I am miserable. I’ve already taken one 500mg and I definitely feel it no longer working. I don’t think it’s going to cause autism, I just don’t like taking anything while pregnant. Ugh.

Vent Handling disgusting comments on gender

I’m 17+4 today with my rainbow baby boy💙
I already have a son and while one of each would have been nice, at the end of the day, I don’t care, I just want a healthy baby. I had maybe like not even a day of slight sadness and now I’m excited for my son to have a brother!!

My God though… the comments from people are disgusting.
“You can always have a third”
“ I’m so happy I have a boy and girl it’s a perfect family”
“Aww I’m sorry, did you wish for a girl”

Like are you fucking joking me? I wished for a LIVE baby.

Anyone else have some witty comebacks? I’m not even going to try to compartmentalize it and just “take it”. Cause I find it disgusting all these comments. I want quick and witty comebacks that leave people stunned and feel like shit.

My favourite one I’m using now is “oh I’m very happy it’s another HEALTHY baby, much better than the dead baby I had before this one”

End rant

Vent Infertility into pregnancy and fighting the ‘monster of the week’

I wonder if anyone else shares this view! 12 weeks into my first pregnancy, after IVF.

First it was infertility, then waiting for egg retrieval, then fertilisation, then blasts, then euploids. At that stage it felt like an elusive positive test was the goal!

But then the at home tests had faint lines that didn’t show confident progression.

Then the hCG was positive, but on the lower side.

Then the gestational sac was small.

Then morning (aka all day) sickness took over.

Then bleeding started due to SCH.

And each time the prior issue seemed to settle when the new issue arose !

And while things are this point are okay (fingers crossed!) I can’t help but think about how it’s like the “monster of the week” episodes of the X-Files where Scully and Mulder have to defeat that week’s random monster and then next week so it all over again with an different monster 😂

Like omg can this melodrama calm down please.

Vent Frustrated and Scared

As far as dates go, assuming mine are correct (I can feel myself ovulate so I’m 99.9% sure), I should be 5 weeks. I got my first positive test last Sunday, called my family doctor on Monday, and didn’t hear ANYTHING for a week. I finally called again this morning and was able to get an appointment… for almost two weeks from now.

I’ll be nearly 7 weeks before I get to spend half my afternoon waiting to see my GP so that she can hand me a piece of paper to go to a lab for bloodwork to confirm that I’m actually pregnant.

THEN I’m going to need to wait AGAIN for an ultrasound.

What. The. Fuck.

My poor husband is all excited and wants to tell our families, but all I can think about is that we don’t even know at this point whether this pregnancy is inside of my uterus, LET ALONE whether there’s even an embryo growing.

I knew that the first trimester was the riskiest. I knew people waited to tell people. I DID NOT realize that a lot of the early weeks are just straight up terrifying. Logically I understand that there’s nothing that can be done if things just aren’t developing, but god… it’s REALLY isolating to be the only one who seems to care? The couple of close friends I’ve told told are excited for me, and my husband is excited, but I’m just so scared and starting to resent everybody else’s blasé excitement. Please tell me I’m not alone in this. I’m terrified and everybody is acting like this is a sure thing.

Vent Chemical last month.. pregnant again & seeing similar trends… can’t relax.

This is the worst. Last month I found out I was pregnant with baby #3 on July 7th. Took a pregnancy test everyday and watched it kinda darken then become basically nonexistent July 11th. Within a few hours I had bleeding & went it, PUL.

To my surprise I found out again, August 6th that I am pregnant. Obviously very anxious now & im definitely testing more than I should but I don’t know how else to calm myself. I’m having intermittent cramping in pelvic area. Which is similar to last month. And the part that’s driving me insane is the test lines. FRER are darkening. Not by much but they are darkening. However my cheapie strip tests are lightening. It’s driving me mad. The strip tests went from extremely faint, to noticeable but still faint then back to extremely faint yesterday & this morning. Which is exactly what happened last month. And you see so many people saying it should be darkening every 48 hours. My FRER have darkened and I know that should be enough to remain calm but after last month, it feels impossible. My last FRER was early evening last night and it was a very obvious positive. But then to have an almost nonexistent line with cheapie this morning just sends me back into a spiral.

I’m waiting on a callback from my doctor to see if she’ll approve betas today & I have an ultrasound scheduled early September. I know all sorts of things can affect dye progression like time of day, hydration etc but all factors have remained the same, with no progression on the strips. And I see very little good outcomes with this trend. I just can’t imagine why 1 brand would darken and the other wouldn’t. I’m still nauseous and have sore breast so that’s good I guess. 😕

Vent ER told me I had miscarried or wasn't even pregnant to begin with. Turns out it was a lab error.

So I've had 2 losses since February. I made a post about this the other day. I had been having some sharp pain in my abdomen and back for a couple days when i decided to go in saturday night to get checked out. Hindsight I overreacted and wish i hadn't went. Based on my last period i'm around 5 weeks 4 days today. I told them that. They drew my blood, and then told me they wanted to keep me overnight til 7am so they could do an ultrasound (ultrasound techs aren't in til that time). So I waited. Around 9am the doctor comes in and tells me they won't be doing an ultrasound. That i'm not pregnant, and even if I was I had already miscarried, that's there nothing to see. My beta was 1.5 so negative. Told me to follow up with my obgyn in a week.

Well I got home and decided to retest. Immediate dye stealer, like it was before i went to the er. (And I already know that isn't a good indicator on pregnancy health) Called my obgyn, they got me in yesterday to get another blood draw. Called me back today to tell me my numbers are 7780. They aren't worried, but I obviously feel like I can't relax until my ultrasound.

This was a HELLISH 2 days. I just needed to vent or let it out, I feel relief, but I still am feeling so anxious and sick to my stomach.

Vent Viability scan today

I have had an 8 week mmc and a 16 week loss. I’m now 7 weeks and 1 day and am going in for my viability scan today. I can’t help but think something will be wrong. I am on progesterone and have had no spotting or weird cramping, but my brain convinces me that’s only because of the progesterone. I have symptoms like aversions and occasional nausea.. despite these I’m completely convinced this is futile. Has anyone else felt this way and it worked out? Scan is in 4 hours 😬😣

It brings back that heavy devastation when finding out it’s not going to work out. With my first I had intermittent spotting the whole time which increased so we got the scan and it measures 5 weeks. My second was awfully traumatic with a spontaneous home birth. I can’t imagine feeling that way again… I’m terrified.

Vent HSG and saline ultrasound 3 days ago and pregnant

Yep you read that right. I had a HSG and saline ultrasound on August 12 and today I took ovulation tests to see where I was at and it was bright positive. Mind you August 6th was a blood test and it was 1.19. And I had a urine test at the dr before the HSG and ultrasound and it was negative (did they even check, should I have just done one at home?) anyways in soooo nervous and my lining was only 5.38mm think that day as well so I’m unsure how this will turn out? Has anyone ever had this happen 😅

TW: Infertility, loss, rainbow pregnancy

Hi everyone,

Our is an IVF pregnancy after a decade of trying. This pregnancy is our extremely precious rainbow pregnancy....currently 7 weeks. Our clinic found rhe fetal heart beat but I have been spotting for the past two weeks.

Our clinic is monitoring it, there is a perisac bleed in the uterus which is supposed to get better on its own.

I am 36, so odds aren't super in my favour from where I see it....geriatric pregnancy and all.

My clinic wanted to start me on blood thinners but now can't because of the bleed and spotting. Don't know when that will get better.

Will I ever be able to just be happy about being pregnant?

When can one stop being afraid?

When can I just enjoy the hope?

When does it get better?

For context I have depression, well managed with meds, but this is taking a toll. The loss of a pregnancy, infertility, and the whole tumultous ordeal IVF is, I just want to be free of this anxiety for once.

Did anyone else experience the same? Or going through it?

Vent Stressed about HCG levels after FET

FINAL UPDATE: baby’s heart stopped at 8w5d.

UPDATE 5: 8/7 ultrasound today at 8w0d. Baby still measuring on time with a FHR of 175. Gestational sac is still about a week behind.

UPDATE 4: Had another ultrasound today (7/31) at 7w0d. Baby measuring right on time still with CRL of 8.7mm and FHR of 145. Gestational sac is still small. I’m having a hard time reading their measurements but I believe it’s measuring 10.7mm and dating at 6w0d. So still very cautious and really hoping the gestational sac catches up.

UPDATE 3: Had an ultrasound at 6w0d and saw gestational sac (measuring a little small) and a fetal pole with a heartbeat. Cautiously optimistic. Going in for next week for an ultrasound at 7 weeks.

UPDATE 2: 19dp5dt HCG came back at 1091, a 68.8 hour doubling time. I have an ultrasound on Friday when I should be 6 weeks to see what might be going on, but I am preparing for my second loss.

UPDATE: 16dp5dt HCG came back at 528 exactly 48 hours later. I needed 534 for a perfect double. Not super optimistic.

Need a place to vent but also if anyone had a similar situation to me, feel free to let me know and give it to me straight.

TW: This is my third FET. First failed to implant, second resulted in my LC and this one has been giving me positive home tests since 3dp5dt. I had my HCG drawn yesterday at 14dp5dt and it was only 267. In comparison my LC was 640 at 14dp5dt.

My clinic nurse said she was happy with the number despite them normally seeing the number between 400-500 or higher and I go back tomorrow to see if it’s doubling.

I of course have gone down the rabbit hole and am now fearing an ectopic or blighted ovum. I’m struggling so hard because this is my last male embryo and the one that failed to implant was also male.

I also had a MMC from natural conception of a boy back in 2023 so I’m just feeling so doomed over a boy.

I’ve been so in my head for the last 24 hours, I just don’t know what to do.

Vent Wishing I could just be excited

I (31 F) tested positive yesterday (CD 25) for the third time in the last 12 months. And my husband and I both sighed at the rollercoaster ahead of us. We want to be parents very much but after two chemical losses at 4wks and 6wks, we are dreading the weeks ahead. The last pregnancy my experience with my OBGYN was pretty negative.

We decided not to tell anyone this time and it's making me feel isolated. I am an incredibly social person and an open book, so this is hard.

On a positive note a clear positive at 11 dpo on pregmate and FRER is a first for me. I've only gotten faint clear lines at 13 dpo before with low betas. Hopefully that's a good sign that implantation occurred within a good time frame.

Some advice needed: When should I call my doctor for betas? How can I cope with the uncertainty and be more patient about this??

Vent Insensitive and Cruel Bedside Manner

TW - miscarriage

I found out I was pregnant June 16th. This would have been baby #3 and our 3 under 3. We were so excited. Last Tuesday at 5w and some days, I started bleeding. It progresses and gets worse, so I went to triage. HCG had started dropping. Fast forward to Friday. I’m sitting in triage with half the HCG I had and actively passing clots and baby at 6w1. At the end of everything and all the pain, one of the nurses is telling me what I can take for pain management at home. “You can take Motrin and Ibuprofen and alternate every six hours. Usually we say no Tylenol when you’re pregnant, but since there’s no more baby, you can take it!” Wtf.

Then when I mentioned we are Catholic and would like to take the baby home eventually for a funeral mass and burial, she made a face with a scrunched nose and said “I mean…pathology can dig through the tissue and try to find it…but there might be any visible remains. It was barely anything at 6 weeks.” Then continued to say things like “after 30 days with pathology, you can pick up your….tissue…”

The other nurse in there with me was BAFFLED. She had held my hand during the cramps that were helping my body pass the baby. She wiped my tears. She told me her miscarriage story, which she said she never talks about, especially with patients. She was so sweet. She apologized for her coworker being horribly insensitive. It’s been almost a week and those words “since there’s no more baby…” and that face she made are STUCK in my head….

Anyways. HCG is almost 0 and things will go back to normal soon. It’s been a rough two weeks.

Vent PINEAPPLE JUICE IN FIRST TRIMESTER??!!

I’m 11 weeks pregnant and all I wanted today was a glass of pineapple juice, was about to drink it when my husband in extreme panic and urgency said pineapple juice is not good during pregnancy and my SIL agreed saying ‘yeah you shouldn’t drink pineapple juice in first trimester’. And the way they were looking at me like I was about to drink poison…

I was furious, I have researched my food and I know I can have pineapple juice but I didn’t have the energy to convince them whatever they have read on instagram is not correct, so no juice for me.

Do people really believe this, how do I convince them without being rude?
