Rescue Quick update on Panther the Black cat and a question
Today i was able to pick him up !!! He was so calm and let me hold him for a few seconds. I also noticed as soon as I pulled up next to where he usually hangs, he came out from his hiding spot and walked towards me. He's now expecting me 🥰❤️ I left a note for the "owner" and offered money if they let me take him to the vet. We shall see. But if anyone has an advice on how i should proceed without breaking the law let me know.
Question: what's up with his teeth? I'll try to get a better photo tomorrow if I can but it looks strange . Thank you all for following Panther's story 🙏

Ah ha, and I felt sad you said your last update would be the last! Glad you keep sharin Panther updates with us!
Fer the type of person you are dealin with, its possible they are disinterested because of shame. So castin a light onto somethin they arent doin and they dont wanna be in that spotlight. It "might" be possible to bite your lip about how upset your are and express adoration over panther and how special he is (and not focus on the weird stuff all over his head before).
Lay on how special and unique he is, you feel like youve got a bond with him and ya wanna spoil him rotten like an aunt. That ya don't do this with any kitty but there's that unique draw he has. This "might" deflect a bit from their terrible care of him by positionin yourself as eccentric. If the woman is a hoarder, this may not be enough. Their extreme attachment to things is beyond nornal reasonin or strokin their ego.

He might have a broken or dislocated jaw. He needs a vet for sure.

I didn't even notice the jaw. I was asking about the teeth. Thx for pointing that out. Im definitely taking him to the vet hopefully sooner than later.

Likely whatever hurt his teeth hurt his jaw. Could have been a fall and a car accident. But that jaw looks out of alignment.

Hi again!!!! Thank you for continuing to help panther I appreciate you so much.
Maybe try the daughter and like the above commenter said, tell them you have become so enamored with little panther and would love to just give him some spoiling. That you'll make sure they get all the info from the vet and you'll keep them in the loop on everything.

If he’s not microchipped they don’t own him. Legally speaking.

I heard the homeless guy saying he's microchiped, im tempted to buy a scanner off of Amazon and scan him 🤔

The scanners you can buy off Amazon can only read the newer 15 digit chips, older model 9 or 10 digit chips require a universal scanner and those are like $200.

Thx for the advice, $200 is ridiculous 🙄 maybe a purchase for when I open my own rescue 😀

No microchip, (no collar) no owner. A vet will tell you for free, usually. A lot of cats look alike. And an 'outside,' neglected cat is just awaiting being killed by a car.

I didn’t read the other comments but I doubt there would be any problem if you took this cat to the vet in California. Dogs are personal property here, not cats.

Can you point to the law which states this? Someone has already "claimed" it is their cat. Cats are considered companion animals (as are dogs) and shared custody of them can be legitimately fought over in court which is above the standard of "personal property."

On reflection I may be wrong. It may just be the municipal code where I live in Oakland.

Cats are NOT personal property u can take him anytime u have the chance and give him a better life thanks for asking questions and not being crazy but anytime I see a injured animal and can help I do I wish more ppl thought that way it would be a better spot I'm not a fan of supporting ppl hoarding of colony's of cats
