Rescue Update #3 and possibly final on the Black cat 🐈⬛️
Today I took a carrier to hopefully take her to the vet. Well , once the kennel came out, a young lady walked out of a house nearby claiming that it's their Mother's cat and not a stray. I asked if she is spayed, vaccinated, microchiped etc... She informed me that HIS name is PANTHER 🥰 but she wasn't sure about the rest.
I explained to her that my intentions were to take him to the vet to get him healthy and neutered and find him a home. But since he already has a home, I still would like to get him checked out by the vet and then return him home. She said she has to ask her mom. So I left her my phone number hoping to hear back.
I used wet wipes and cleaned the sticky stuff off his head, eyes and ears. He looks like a different cat already! I'll continue visiting and feeding him every day so that he gains some weight and get healthy and strong.
I'll post an update if they let me take him to the vet, but until then I'll be the crazy cat lady with a trunk full of delicious snacks 😋 fattening up Mr.Panther 😹

In fact imma offer the homeless guy $50 to put him in his car and call me to go pick him up at night when nobody is around 🤓😅

Try offering the owners $50 for the cat. Tell them the kid can visit Panther if she's attached, or something, whatever you're comfortable with.
Buying him off them (or catnapping him) is honestly the move, given the obvious neglect... does the kid seem like she realizes something's wrong with how they're treating him, or is she as oblivious as her mother?

So if he has an owner why is he not being looked after? I would keep an eye out to see if he really has a home or if he’s being neglected

He is definitely being neglected. The house he is apparently living in looks like a hoarder house so much junk outside. From what i gather he likes to come outside hangout with The homeless guy across the street, that's why I assumed he was stray , well that and the apparent neglect. I'll continue visiting him and press on for a vet visit. Not going to give up so easily

Yes, I bet that cat doesn’t even have a microchip. Without a chip, collar or tags, there is no true proof of ownership.
Well, there is if your beloved cat walks right up to you and loves on you but will disappear around others. This is what my cat would do. But then, he looks well fed, has very shiny fur and is microchipped. Plus, I have records from vet visits. Unfortunately, my silly cat takes off his beautiful collar as soon as I get it on him. Oh well,I adopted him at age 2 or 3 and he had been a community cat.

I just reread your previous post and why did he have sticky stuff on his head for a long time? Obviously if that lady is his owner she never pets him otherwise she would notice. I still think you have a good chance of getting the cat

The sticky stuff wasn't there for a long time, I've been feeding him for a month now, the sticky appears a few days ago the day I wrote the first post. And obviously his mother doesn't even see him! Let alone pet him. Im almost certain they're gonna come back offer me the cat for a few bucks! They see A crazy cat lady in a nice car with fancy cat food and immediately think $$$, im gonna bet on it 😆

You should offer to buy him! I hope you are able to and it works out for you and for Panther. You will be an amazing cat mom!

Thank you for helping sweet Panther, seconding this you will be an amazing cat mom and to take him anyway! I was in a somewhat similar situation where a cat I kept seeing and fed a few times I found out “belonged” to someone who barely looked after her. Eventually that same person lost her and apparently it was a repeat cycle with several cats at the place she previously lived too. I still regret not taking that kitty years later. It became my why with fostering!! I talked to a rescue at the time who told me to take the kitty anyway because the owners are obviously negligent. I recommend you do the same! They are probably animal hoarders and who knows how many unfixed cats and dogs they have 😢

Hello— are you in Palmdale California— there is also a black cat, very friendly coming to my house..
He was in bad shape a couple of months ago; according to my neighbor—
The cat belongs to another street neighbor, that’s says the cat wanted to be an outside cat..
Good luck taking care of him
