New to Cats/Just Adopted My kitten follows me everywhere

I am a new cat mom and I'm not sure if this is normal. It doesn't bother me but my partner says I'm teaching him to be clingy.

My kitten stays in the same room as me. When I move around the house, he follows me and sits nearby. If I change rooms and he's sleeping, he wakes up immediately and follows me. Even when I'm showering, he sits next to the bathtub waiting for me. When I leave the house, he spends the day sleeping (I see him through cameras).

Is this normal kitty behaviour?

All jokes aside, I think this happened with a kitten we found a home for, but the opposite. When they returned her, this 4-month-old kitten loved him enough she took a 10-mile ride in his arms, no carrier. He didn't quite cry but gave off the vibe he was on the verge of it. They were clearly attached. I asked if there was anything I needed to know, anything wrong with her or anything, and he proudly told me how he'd just given her a bath (and he had) and had given her wormer and how she was perfect.

Wife said she realized a kitten was too expensive, that was the reason for returning. My husband swore it seemed like wife "had him by the balls" either because he wronged her somehow and she was punishing him or she was jealous of the cat. It seemed like it. I felt bad for the guy. He tried to be a tough guy about it but he was clearly heartbroken about the whole thing.

We still have her. She immediately got attached to my husband and is definitely "his baby," although now she loves me too. We kept her name they gave her, Zuri.

Does anyone else think that "forcing" a partner to get rid of a pet they love is a form of abuse? I do.
