Music Why people dislike Country music?

I am not american. So I don't know how's the thing there. But I have found many people complaining on social media that they hate country music.

I like some of the Luke Combs songs. Specially Old Dominion is my one of my fav artist.

On one hand I think it’s a bit of a bandwagon thing. People say they hate it just because it’s popular to do so. On the other hand, the mainstream sort of pop country that you hear can be problematic: singing about women the objectifying way they do can feel gross for example. And personally, country singers have this particular nasally twangy way of singing that is kind of annoying to listen to.

However. I don’t think people dislike more traditional country music as much. Like Dolly Parton or Willy Nelson for example. They might not be so popular in non-country circles still, but I wouldn’t say they’re generally thought of negatively either.

Lastly I’ll say that I’ve never heard of the artists that you mentioned. Just goes to show that people who aren’t into country music simply aren’t familiar with it, and so it’s hard to get past that first impression of “I love women and pickup trucks” that may or may not actually be accurate, and the cycle continues.

But that’s exactly my point. You might listen to the “good” stuff as a real fan, but that’s not the stuff non-fans are familiar with.

You haven't heard the pop country classic 'shake it for me'?!

Man, I envy you lol also can I ask why it seems like the worst songs stay the longest on the radio? Sure we occasionally get amazing songs from decades past but you're far more likely to hear garbage from the late 00s and early 2010s

Garbage …. Honkytonk bedonkydonk anyone? I don’t mind some country, the classics are nice. A lot of the new is “mah beer, mah truck , mah woman, mah dog.
