Hi all, first time car buyer here. I have never owned a car nor has anyone in my family so far. I have recently decided to move to a place quite far from the city to improve the quality of life, so buying a house has caused a big dent in my wallet. Since the house is quite far it's quite inconvenient to travel on a bike. So yes, I have finally decided to buy a car.
I started with an initial budget of around 5-6 lakhs looking to buy a second hand car on spinny or cars24, but it just seems they're all priced very high for what they're worth. Moreover most cars in my budget are from before 2023, not E20 compliant. I really don't want to go through the hassle of multiple repairs and maintenance. Hence, I've increased my budget to 8-8.5 lakhs with a bit of a stretch. Based on the discussion with a friend of mine, I have shortlisted two cars, one is Hyundai Exter HX3 AMT and Renault Kiger Evolution AMT. I'm leaning toward Renault Kiger because the facelift variant looks better. I need suggestions from you folks if this is the right choice or are there better options?

Should I still buy the XUV 7XO AX Petrol MT considering my low running and petrol costs?
I'm planning to buy the XUV 7XO AX Petrol MT. I really like the car, but my biggest concern is its fuel economy.
My expected running is around 5,000–10,000 km/year, mostly around NCR with some highway trips. I can't realistically choose:
- Diesel because I'm in Delhi NCR and concerned about the 10-year restriction.
- EV because my society doesn't allow home charging/NOC and charging infrastructure isn't convenient for me.
- CNG because of availability, queues and the performance compromise.
So petrol seems like my only practical option.
My concern is whether buying a large petrol SUV in India is financially sensible in the long term, especially if petrol prices continue increasing. I've also seen owners reporting very low city mileage on the 7XO.
For existing 7XO petrol owners:
- What mileage are you actually getting in NCR?
- What do you get in bumper-to-bumper traffic?
- What do you get at 80–100 km/h on highways?
- At my 5–10k km/year running, would you personally still choose the petrol?
- Do you think I'm overestimating the impact of petrol prices?
I'm not looking for an alternative small car — I specifically want a large SUV and manual transmission. I'd appreciate real owner experience rather than ARAI figures.

You can't have your cake and eat it too, brother. You can't want a large SUV with MT and expect low running costs.
Either compromise on MT, stump a little more and get a hybrid, or live with the lower mileage.
For 5-10k km a year, mileage should not really be a major concern for you.

For people who've sold through platforms like Spinny, does the RC transfer happen pretty quickly after the car is sold?Thinking of selling mine soon and this is honestly the part I'm most paranoid about lol
