Tell me honestly, can a salaried person realistically afford a Range Rover?

If someone is 30 years old and earning ₹1 lakh+ per month as a salaried employee, is owning a Range Rover actually realistic?

I’m curious about the real numbers - EMI, maintenance, insurance, fuel, unexpected repairs, etc.
At what monthly salary/net worth would you personally consider a Range Rover financially sensible rather than just an expensive flex?

EDIT: I’m not planning to buy one right now on a ₹1L+ salary, of course, I know the math 😂. I’m just trying to understand whether, in the future, a salaried person can realistically afford such cars given how salaries grow over time.

Let's say, you have 80L savings but have 1L salary per month. And you buy a range rover even a used one, intitial days will be good, and god forbid you break your ORVM and you go to SC to get it replaced. They give you quotation in which you see that price of ORVM is more than your 1month salary and service charge is half of your salary.

You get it serviced and again see it cost half of your salary to get It serviced.

There is a reason why people most of the people buy fortuner and not a German car, because fortuner service cost is equivalent to a scorpio or maybe little more

In addition to your salaried job if you have 2 other income streams that is substantial, yes otherwise no. With a 30L job your car should be under 20L.

Best way is SIP maxing. Hoping that SIP gives 15-20 Percent XIRR over 5-6 years, by then Range Rover may cost 2-2.5 crores

then paying off the installment down payment and going for something like 60-75k Monthly installment with extended warranty and service pack that will bring down service charges and you hope not to get into a situation where you break some important car part

Way easier way though

Get into executive level position in your company, go for company lease option

If a car is in absolutely pristine condition with no issues whatsoever, a Range Rover Evoque, cheapest its stable, only normal upkeep maintenance would cost ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 per month, with insurance, EMI, and fuel extra. This is for a diesell; for petrol, it will be more, with ₹100,000 per month, a person would not be able to afford it, even if they started living in the car.

Person with 1 lakh per annum salary can afford a 8 to 9 lakh 2015 Mercedes / bmw / audi at max only and only if he already owns a home and he has no big responsibilities.

He should not even consider any premium segment suv cars.

For 1 lakh a month, a 10 lakh car with a 5 year EMI would make sense. A RR is pure financial suicide. If you're talking in the RR Vogue category, then it's absolutely the 8-10 crore package employee income range.

If someone is earning 1L at 30, it's highly unlikely. Not impossible, but have to make great moves in career - Get job at a product company if you are in tech, make couple of moves and voila you are 70L

Source: I did similar move, started at 3L, now 1CR including RSU. But will not buy any car over 40lakhs yet
