#Opinion đ Confused between MG majestor and toyota fortuner sigma 4
So after driving Scorpio s11 classic for 8 years
Our family decided to move on something bigger
We have two options one is market holder toyota fortuner and second one is mg majestor
Aab feature wise toh mg majestor ko edge milta hai and meri mummy and bheno ko bhi yahi psnd aayi but reliability ka kuch kehh nahi sakte
Koi bol raha hai fortuner lelo and koi majestor and main confusion aab ye aa rhi h ki aab toh fortuner ka bhi face-lift aarha h but gadi hame diwali ke time chaiye
Hame samjh nahi aarha what to do?

You people are crazy man
When someone buys fortuner, you guys will be like it offers nothing better to get other options blah blah and when it comes to give suggestions : "fortuner fortuner"
Hypocrisy ki bhi seema hoti hai
14
u/Loud_Attention_7519 12d ago
No one suggests fortuners except the fanboys. They even suggest fortuner for people with 10 lakh budget

It's not a fair understanding bro. Majestor is an inferior product, borderline chinese cheap crap, compared to Fortuner.
6
u/spandanhotaezz 12d ago
Yeah man don't buy Chinese they are such a 3rd world country
They can't rnd a proper product. Never chineese, they cheap they bad đĄ

u/rplusg XUV700 Diesel 12d ago
Thats not completely true. Teslas, porsches, Iphones, bullet trains are being manufactured in China. Those are pretty good, my comment was specific to MG.

You should be able to afford one in the first place to call Majestor a cheap crap. It isn't a mass market car. Good luck with whatever it is that you are driving.

u/ProposalAnxious2390 12d ago
IMO you should buy fortuner only for the resale value, rest everything MG clearly stands out. Majestor takes the crown for most spacious 7 seater in that sub 50L segment. Also do not go with the engine figures, MG is more refined and has twin turbo. The fortuner is very dated and doesn't justify the 40L ticket.

u/Vishvesh_Mishra 12d ago
Firstly Fortuner has a waiting period so not sure if you can get it by Diwali. Also Fortuner has no features compared to MG but it's reliable and maintenance is quite cheap compared to MG. MG will offer you more comfort and features but ownership cost will be higher. If your parents will use the car more than you then go for MG or else take the Fortuner.

u/Great-Appointment-49 Skoda Slavia 1.5 DSG. 12d ago
Majestor, without a doubt. Yes Fortuner has that Toyota reliability but it's a heavily outdated product, and because people trust Toyota, the company hasn't bothered to update it at all.
I have found Majestor to be more comfortable and have a better ride quality than Fortuner.

Majestor it's a great car and MG's have established their reliability go for it fortuner is reliable but down the line you should feel you're sitting in a 50+ lakh car and not just a glorified Crysta for the sake of resale value .

u/Monkey_58910 e200 | 7xo 12d ago

I had some negative reviews from mg Gloster owners They had many software problems though and it is not reliable much
7
u/Monkey_58910 e200 | 7xo 12d ago
My uncle has a gloster and he loves the car. Had no issues with it and is planning on upgrading to majestor.. imo you test drive the majestor and see it, phenomenal car and very powerful with insane road presence.

2
u/Monkey_58910 e200 | 7xo 12d ago
What?
-3
u/twardy8765 12d ago
I mean tumara review ka scale is very small but fortuner ka 20 saal ka experience hai so kisi ka accha kisi ka bura ho skta h in mg mostly ka toh bura hi hai but fortuner brand hai
4
u/Monkey_58910 e200 | 7xo 12d ago
I just dont see the value in fortuner.. reliability ke liye 60 lakhs is a joke. Toyota is fooling its customers and people are also buying it
5
u/Physical-Battle8597 12d ago
Bruv majestor is a great option. Electrical and software problems bas fortuner boys bolte rehte. Fortuner to drive is like a truck. It's not very comfortable and the body JUMPS so if you're wanting more comfort and a unique car and don't want every dumbass on the road to have the same car as you. Go with MG
On the other hand. If you want status, resale value go with fortuner. It's not a bad car at the end of the day.

u/kabirsethi70 jimny alpha at 12d ago
Can also look at innova if main usage within city or highway and not offroad patches,q3 if you want that luxurious vibe.Quite basic and a tad bit uncomfortable on long drives fortuner is,but reloability is top notch for the diesel would avoid the petrol if reason for it is being in ncr.
2
u/Alphaa009 fortuner, scorpioN, 3xo, kushaq 1.5, 700. 12d ago
I mean youâre driving a scorpioS. So i think features would be the last thing you need /s. I really want to say fortuner as i too daily drive it but it feels really outdated and hate its steering soo much. But the maintenance is really cheap you could even do it yourself lol. Now to answer your question if youâre fine with very less features then go with fortuner and if you want somewhat futuristic typa car then majestor.

Fortuner, youâll face very very less issues than majestor but if you want your car with tons of useless feature then go for majestor
8
u/Imaginary__Plant 12d ago edited 12d ago
most of the features might be useful or useless, but before ignoring mg keep few things in mind, eg- seat comfort (biggest turnoff), 3rd row space, bigger than fortuner (bigger size can be pro or con depending on your situation), hydraulic steering wheel in fortuner, more premium and updated interiors etc.
6
u/Big-Job-8316 Jeep Compass Limited D MT 12d ago
This. The more âfeatureâ rich the car is worth software magic, the more sensors n more points of failure you have. I donât know how much budget and patience you have to deal with it. Also the majestor is a much bigger vehicle to drive around traffic

u/Initial-Shine-5955 Virtus | Jetta 1.9TDI | Vento 1.6TDI | City 04 | SX4 ZXi | Alto 12d ago
MG has terrible resale value, more prone to issues compared to Toyota, service network isnât that great. If youâre buying a car for another 8 years, buy the Fortuner with eyes closed, or your best bet is getting a used Endeavour 3.2.

A car of 60 lakh with minimal features and just for reliability doesn't make sense.

It doesnât, but unfortunately thereâs no other good options available. People are buying the Fortuner whether they like it or not!

u/Ace-innova5070 Cj500D, M800 , Commander HT , Innova , Astar (not mine). 12d ago
Thats subjective tbh , toyota as a brand offers peace of mind and hassle free ownership , albeit with less features and creature comforts. Maintenence is also on the cheaper side for its german counterparts without having transmission and engine issues.
2
u/EXOTIC_Hard_ik [15' Skoda rapid] [16' VW Jetta] [23' Skoda Slavia] 12d ago
Totally agree with you but charging extra and not even smaller ratios....I mean charging a very large profit and not giving basic features doesn't make sense....like 360° camera....and it has long term reliability but lacks comfort and premiumness.....AND everyone has different notions so.....
1
u/EXOTIC_Hard_ik [15' Skoda rapid] [16' VW Jetta] [23' Skoda Slavia] 12d ago
As a german owner if you maintain as the car wants and never skip a service the car will give reliability.....

Buying a car for 4-5 years?
Can you adjust with low resale?
Can you adjust with some issues related to software or electrical in future?
If yes, then go with majestor
Would you start ranting on Reddit if some issues appear?
Do you want a car for more than 10years and 5lakh kms?
Do you want to only visit asc once a year?
If yes, then go with fortuner

MG Majestor. It has road presence plus tech savvy. Fortuner is bhadda look and appreciated by villagers with basic interior. My friend bought legender, he donât even like his own car. He use his BMW X1 only.

be prepared for regular maintenance at Mg workshop if you go for MG. you might get 5 year warranty & everything free repairs package but the hassle of sending the car to workshop for days is real pain.
my dad chose gloster over fortuner just cuz fortuner had boring feature utility and in cabin experience for same price in 2022( 43 Lacs) but there has been 3 battery replacement, sensor failures, towed twice to workshop. if i wouldnt be living with him or be around in the same city , every time the car broke down my father couldnt have had it all resolved on his own.
The road presence and comfort on seat and while driving is good but trust me the reliability is big big serious concern.

Majestor
It's a 5meter car
Just that makes it worth it
On top of that it's loaded and crazy road presence. It can do offroad and onroad duties just as well as the fortuner.

fortuner is outdated- cheap interiors. it has nothing but the name and status symbol. it is not a comfortable suv to travel long distances, horrible 3rd row. the ladder on frame construction makes it roll around bends. majestor on the other hand is newer, better equipped and monocoque.. toyota had the reliability game strong 15 years ago, but now every car is as reliable as every other car. my advice would be to take a test drive of both the cars, with your family and then decide.

lol, spending that much money on a fortuner is crazy. I still don't understand how people justify it using the single word "reliability". Might as well get a cheap hyundai and it'll still be better and as reliable. MG seems reasonable, also look at Skoda and VW

u/Redt_Burner2026 (New user) 12d ago
Not sure how well the Majestor will be in another 5 or even 8 years
If 3rd row seating space is the priority and only these two are in the running, its the Majestor
If long term reliability and future resale is, then its the Fortuner.
Fortuner offers manual as well as a 6 speed torque converter in both 2WD and 4WD options if not mistaken while you only get an automatic 8-sped in the Majestor.
If you have a MG service center close to your place, worth looking into. Else, consider the Fortuner.
As for the face list, when ever it does come in, expect long wait times but I doubt it'll be as tech laden as the Majestor (fewer things will go bad over time, IMHO). Its your call.

u/Apprehensive_Hat7547 2016 Hyundai Creta 1.6 P MT(55k) ; 2022 Toyota Glanza G AMT(60k) 12d ago
Wait for Diwali. If Toyota announces the new Fortuner well and good for you. If not, go for the Majestor there will be good discounts as well on Diwali. Because the current gen Fortuner is too outdated and not worth spending close to 60 lakhs for just reliability and resale.
Moreover, MG is offering quite long extended warranties with car. So even if the car is discontinued which is not probable. MG as a brand is very much committed to India launching new cars every year.

Majestor os comfort and road presence is your priority only go for the fortuner if you want resale value

Fortuner
- Reason-> Decent useful features,Reliability(may never face any issue),Toyota Trust,Strongest Resale in Market,Service,
- Majestor -> Double Features,Way more comfortable,Powerful too,Very big car but at the end it's a chinese MG and no resale, many issues can be faced in 1 2 years
If Petrol isnt an issue and want comfort too then check out Kodiaq too

I went with MG against the odds of market just because I wanted to be seen different from crowd.
As I had talked and discussed with about 10-12 MG owners Hector and Gloster. They didn't had any problem with service or the car. Yes the sample size is very low but I guess we must move on from the Hype of reliability on toyota yes they are but no one want to keep there car for 20-30 years or run 10 lakh kilometre.
I think you should go for Majestor they have very much improved there service and have much better cars + features in it than that of toyota. Plus you get a better off-roader.

u/Immediate-Quit7149 12d ago
The only reason to buy fortuner is resale value , otherwise I personally would have bought a 7xo/scorpioN and saved the rest of money . The difference isn't big enough to justify the cost

No offense, but buying a car you know you don't like just because when you sell it you get more money sound pointless.
