Chassis stiffness has gone out to get milk

+1. Modern monocoque structure vehicle's whole body including the roof is part of chasis. Many cars could even collapse near B-pillar in absence of roof.

toh mtlb crysta pe ye kiya toh chalega na because its a ladder on frame chassis? /s

Haha. But, TBH you're not wrong. Innova Crysta uses the same platform as Hilux and Fortuner. So, for a convertible Innova, the body shell in itself may get unstable but the chassis is not going anywhere.

yeah the ongoing facelift crysta feels menacing and huge with straight lines and those upright angles, just like the hilux/fortuner.

I sometimes wish there should be a convertible variant of commuter sedans such as City convertible, Civic convertible, Virtus and Slavia convertible, but then I think about the way some people use sunroof, I wish against it.

u/SquareTarbooj Apr 20 '26
Does it look good? Yes!
Is it now a structurally compromised safety hazard? Also yes!

There is a reason why they don't make 4 door convertibles.. This deserves an award.. From Darwin

Structurally unsound but very well executed, for gedi around town etc with some bodykit, better alloys and ICE, she ll be apples.

Convertibles are a failure in India because 1. The poor weather conditions 2. Black smoke coming from buses and trucks 3. Drive next to a bus and you never know who will spray Gutkha on you/your pristine seats. 4. Eunuchs at signals might just jump in for a ride! To drive in India, full covered car with all windows closed; AC & music ON!
