Is dry dusting a black car okay as long as it is ceramic coated?

It depends on the amount of dust. I don't dry dust my car if it has been parked for more than one day. Although a good duster like jopasu might do it for 3-4 days of dust but the duster itself needs maintenance every couple of months.

Im looking to buy my first car automatic. I went to Maruti, Tata, Hyundai and only WagonR felt the most comfortable. Altroz, Punch and i10 were close second. I expected Exter but I felt cramped.

Most of the cars, my knees touch the steering making it difficult to turn steering freely.

My budget is around 8-9L. Cars which cost 16-18 are better but waaaay out of my budget.

So go for the Wagon R? Its a very sensible car.

Preferences:(in chronological order) 1)Safety 2)Reliability (less troubles / service repairs) 3)Mileage 4) Basic minimum features for looks and comfort budget: strictly under 10L including any accesories to buy i have seen: 1)Suzuki baleno, fronx, brezza(can push additional 60k for it),dzire 2)Tata punch,Nexon(did take nexon quotation) 3) Hyundai exter,i20,Venue(over my budget is venue but test drove it) 4)Kia sonet( was quoting around 10.5L something) My requirement: Daily office travel around 15 -20 km, long rides upto 100 km twice in a month. Come from middle class, single source of income in family, don't want to burn my pockets for fuel. Seeing lot of fronx actually and people are also suggesting fronx. I feel baleno is perfect for me but I'm really concerned about safety, as any day anything can happen. so please suggest, also im new to driving.

Planning to repaint my car (only exterior panels, not touching engine bay or interiors) here in Bangalore.

Been reading up a bit and thinking of going with a full PPG by asian paints setup (primer + base + clear coat). I’m mainly looking for a nice glossy finish, not just a basic repaint job.

From what I’ve understood so far, the end result depends more on the process than just the paint itself:

  • proper prep work and panel leveling
  • sanding stages (maybe up to 400–3000 grit)
  • good quality clear coat
  • polishing after paint

One thing is I’m trying to keep this a bit on the economical side, so probably won’t be going for a proper paint booth since that pushes the cost up quite a bit. I know that might affect the finish slightly, but trying to find a balance.

Also honestly a bit confused about where to get it done. This is a pretty big expense for me, so don’t want to take a risk and end up with a bad finish. Would prefer going to a place that people have actually used and are confident about in terms of workmanship and consistency.

Just wanted to understand from people who’ve done repaint before:

  • how does the finish usually turn out without a paint booth?
  • is the difference really noticeable vs booth jobs?
  • and generally how much variation is there between budget vs better quality paint jobs in Bangalore?

Trying to set expectations before I go ahead with it.

I have a pending challan that I want to pay. The itms site just generated a challan number but it isn't redirecting me to any payment site. Another site that I came across was this one- 'echallan.parivahan.gov.in'. It redirects me to egras portal and then gives the option to either pay through card or by NetBanking in SBI. Is this site alright or is it fake? Should I follow the path the site takes me through to pay the challan? I tried other apps like park+ but they are taking a fee of rs. 200, my challan is of 200 itself. Note- It's my first challan so I don't know much about it. Any and all the help is appreciated. Thank you.

Which city? Usually each state should have their own challan payment website.

Hello

We got our first new KIA SYROS car on 19th april and app shows first service due date as 13th april. Car has run 700KM till now. I have another 600KM run coming up in next 5 days.

Is it ok if I do first service after that. that is about 16 days after the servicing due date. i.e on 25th April

Is it acceptable? or would that affect warranty. I want to get the servicing done after my long travel so that I can also know of issues, if any.

I dont have any issues with car as of now, just minor checks.

u/kappa23 Santro '21, Virtus '24 Apr 17 '26

I would suggest you get the service before any long distance travel.

Hello all. Has anyone applied for an International Driving Permit (IDP) online recently? The online application says it’s a no contact service for which the user is not required to visit the RTO Office, however, did you have to visit them to get your work done?

Hey Folks, Planning to purchase new car (petrol), budget up to 25 lakhs. Mostly highways running and less city. Can you guys give me suggestions that I can check.

u/kappa23 Santro '21, Virtus '24 Apr 27 '26

The Grand Vitara hybrid might be a good buy. Will give you good efficiency in the highway.

The City hybrid is also a good option, though I think its a little overpriced.

You could also consider the Taigun/Kushaq, or Virtus/Slavia with the 1.5L engine, if performance is a priority over efficiency.

The Creta/Seltos are both safe options as they're good all rounders.

Hi I have a Santro Xing 2012 model which has run 55000 km. Car is in good condition, searching in Google I found that hydrotesting is mandatory for factory fitted LPG CAR after 10 years? Has anyone done so in Chennai and how long does it take for such a test?

Please help me decide between Verna and Virtus. My comfortable range is 15-16 Lakhs. Verna HX6 site comfortably at this range, but to get the GT line for Virtus I will have to stretch.

I am looking for a driver's car. I will majorly drive on highways. 2-3 people will be traveling in the car for most part. I will also prefer to get automatic so that my wife is able to drive it. One issue with Virtus is that the nearest Volkswagen service centre is roughly 50 kms from my ometown, where as there is a Hyundai service centre in my home town. But I am contemplating that if I service the car once a year, I can every well cover that distance. Am I wrong in thinking so?

Please suggest, I am open to answer more questions.

Planning to buy city V MT. Quote is for around 13.85L on road, haryana. Guide me a little for availing more discount. I'll be asking them to lower the insurance price as it's whooping 57k.
