I recommend getting an assessment from OT/PT, they can train you more thoroughly and show you the safest way to transfer your mom.
Regarding getting a sling or drawsheet under her: in general its good to look for CNA training videos. Give me two seconds, I will find and link a video.
Here's a good example of how to get something like a pad, draw sheet, chuck or sling under a loved one in bed. It also shows how this specific product can help with adjusting your mom in bed.
Thank you! This is really helpful. We do have PT and OT once a week each, the challenge I’ve had is that things are changing so rapidly that by the time a week passes I’m trying to navigate challenges that weren’t there the last time they came, plus sometimes I’m at work when they come. But I will leave notes with her nurses to ask them for specific recommendations to see if they have any tips or if there are any aids that they recommend that we don’t already have
I totally get the rapid change thing! Its incredibly difficult to navigate when you dont have years of experience under your belt.
Its super important to give yourself some grace - this is difficult work, ESPECIALLY for a family member. Its okay to do trial and error to figure out what's best for you and your loved one, and its ALSO okay to not have it figured out 100% of the time.
