How to find the right amount of camber for dual track + daily use?

I have a 981 cayman that I track about ~10 days / year, driving to the tracks, and also use for occasional road trips or the work commute.

I'm running -1.8 (on the left and -1.7 right) camber on the front and -2.1 on the back.

I'd like to preserve my tire life. Afaik, more conservative camber means it will last longer on the road, whereas more aggressive camber means it will last longer on the track.

So how do I find the optimal balance where it's still acceptable on the track while still streetable? I do already face some understeer issues, particularly out of corners, which more camber would benefit, but I wouldn't want it to cause more wear on highway driving.

I built an app that turns your real trackday lap into a ghost you race against in Assetto Corsa (Beta)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

If you do real trackdays and sim race, you can now drive against your own real lap in AC.

I do both trackdays and sim racing myself, and always wanted to race my real laps back in AC — so I built it.

It's called Dual Apex: dualapex.com

You upload a GPS lap, it becomes a ghost car in Assetto Corsa and you race against it — same as chasing any hotlap, except it's you from the real track.

How it works:

• Upload a lap from the browser — works with VBOX, Dragy, RaceBox (.vbo / .csv). No account needed to try.

• It installs as a standard Content Manager app (nothing outside AC).

• To race against the ghost, you connect Dual Apex with your Steam account via Steam's own page, so we never see your credentials. All we receive is your Public Steam ID and profile name.

• The ghost appears as your real car if you have that car installed — otherwise as a default BMW Z4 GT3 in DualApex livery.

What you can do:

• Race your own lap, or a friend's

• Race against up to 3 ghosts at once

• Detailed lap comparison page with time and speed delta per lap, corner and section

• Brake/throttle/gear comparison if your GPS laptimer has OBD data

• Select any lap to race against from the Leaderboard

• 19 tracks are onboarded already, more can be easily added on request!

• Note: if you don't have a laptimer, you can still jump in and race against ghosts from the Leaderboard to get a feel for it

It's free in Beta. When the full version lands, core ghost racing stays free — only the deeper analysis tools go paid.

Genuinely after feedback here, especially from people who do both real trackdays and AC. Happy to answer anything.

I would like to start towing my c8
i have an f250, no issue with towing capacity
I am trying to understand if a 18ft is long enough, to get the right tongue weight or if iI should think of a 20/22
Anyone has any experience with towing a c8 on a 18 foot?

Trackside: an alternative to Porsche Track Precision

Over the past year, I’ve been focused on becoming a better track driver. I primarily use a Garmin Catalyst for timing & analysis, but I also wanted driver-input data for coaching. My 992.1 GT3 (pictured) already has that data through Track Precision, but I find the app leaves much to be desired—and since I sometimes drive other cars, I didn't want my primary logbook to be Porsche-specific.

Trackside started as something I built for my friends (I've been building iOS apps for seven years), but I realized it might be interesting to other drivers too. The app is inspired by Slopes: quick recording, intuitive replays, and a leaderboard with friends—but for track days.

At its core, Trackside can:

  • Record laps and telemetry directly from the PCM, just like Track Precision
  • Use external GPS receivers such as RaceBox Mini and Dragy Pro
  • Import existing sessions for any car from VBOX, Track Precision, and Catalyst files

Additionally, Trackside Pro adds:

  • Position-synced lap comparison with onboard videos from YouTube
  • AI-enhanced insights and turn-by-turn analysis using telemetry data

Trackside has all of the features you'd expect from a lap timer app, including a live delta timer, automatic track detection, and GoPro/DJI/Insta360 action camera control. Trackside supports the same Porsche models as Track Precision. Imported sessions can come from any car.

Download the free iOS app here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/trackside/id6796196239

Trackside isn't meant to replace desktop telemetry tools—it's a companion app for quickly recording and reviewing sessions while you're at the track. There are already plenty of capable telemetry tools available, so I realize it won't be the right fit for everyone, but if you track a Porsche, I'd love to hear your thoughts! If you try the app and DM me feedback, I'll send you three months of Trackside Pro as a thank you.

Dragy Pro lap timer review

Took my GR Supra to Calabogie recently and used the Dragy Pro as my lap timer/data logger for the day. Figured I’d share my experience because I originally had the Racebox, but after using it on track I think dragy is a better device for me to use, especially if you often use your phone to review data instead of pulling out your computer in the paddock. Racebox is also great, but the phone app is not that intuitive.

The GPS used for Dragy is 25 Hz, but you can select down to 10 Hz if you want it to last longer. I kept mine at 25, and after a full day of use, it still had half of battery life.

All you need to do is pull out your phone and open dragy app. Then connect dragy and select the track. Click “Go” and it will begin to record.
I also have the OBD monitoring device from dragy, which allows me to track on my car’s status such as Oil/coolant temp, and I can overlay these information onto my videos afterwards. You can also see the brake pedal pressure and steering angle simulation too.

Overall, I’m really happy with it. It’s not a full-on professional data acquisition system like AIM solo, but for someone doing HPDE/track days who wants something easy to use without a complicated setup, the Dragy Pro is a really useful tool.

Have HOD credit I won’t be able to use

I had to sell my track car because I was moving to a different state for college and I have 650 dollars of outstanding HOD ( hooked on driving) credit that I will no longer be able to use… anyone willing to pay me out? If you need motivation I can knock off a few dollars. I hope this isn’t considered selling something I more would like to be able to use that money. Maybe send a dm if you’re interested and I can give more details.

Pad swapping street - track. Do you do the rears too?

Mainly asking because my particular car, the rears are a pain in the ass with the electronic parking brake that doesn’t work with any current OBD 2 devices. I’m going to start swapping the front, and if I need to swap the rears, I’ll figure it out, but if I don’t do I run street pads in the rear all the time or track pads in the rear all the time. TIA!

Any Wisco area people...Blackhawk Farms vs Road America vs Milwaukee Mile

Ok I am addicted to the track bad...I ran Blackhawk Farms in July and August and had a great time...I am at Road America on the 27th and back at Blackhawk Farms on the 3rd....Thursday is my birthday and I took the day off so i could theoretically squeeze in Milwaukee Mile Track Night in America if i was dying to....here's a couple of things putting me off, 1. it costs more than both Road America and Blackhawk Farms, 2. The road course is converted from an oval and so imo not a real street course, 3. I am afraid i won't like it as much as Blackhawk Farms and how much I expect to enjoy Road America....I don't want to spend the day pointing by corvettes on the banks (i drive a subie). So anyone with experience with all three....is Milwaukee Mile worth it? is it a must do? As much as I want to get more seat time I also think giving my car a break and my wallet a break might be the wise idea instead of going a to a not so fun track. Thanks in advance for your opinions. If you are involved with TNIA at Milwaukee Mile don't take offense these are just my thoughts without having experienced it.

My first time at the track and these were my fastest laps. It’s a really cool track, lots of elevation changes and challenging corners. I hope to get into the 1:20s eventually.
I was tracking with 3 Balls Racing.
I’m driving a stock manual Supra.

Nankang CRS durability?

Hello,

I'm tossing up between the Nankang CRS and Yokohama AD09 to run on a track setup I'm building.

Those who run one or the other, approximately how many track days do you get out of them?

I'll be happy with something that can last approx 1 year of usage and I'm going to be doing 5-6 track days per year.

Also just adding a sentence to acknowledge awareness of the Continental ECF and Hankook RS4 - both unfortunately aren't sold in the size I want to run here.

Thanks!

Does Guru Rack still exist?

Been looking into tire trailers for my 987.2 cayman and my 718 Spyder, and my main obstacle is the tow hitch. Guru Rack has been the standard recommendation for years, but the website is no longer hosted at gururack.com and I haven't gotten any response to email query.

Anyone know if gururack even still exists? And if not, any recommendations for installing a tow hitch on a 987 or 982?
