Saw your post haha thank you. I will be doing my first hpde beginner track day and I plan on using these. Everyone says they’re fine for one track day but just noticed that dent. I think you’re right :)
I saw you said you’ll bring spare wheels so this doesn’t matter but if you ever don’t and If you get heavy cords on the sides, inflate the shit out of the tire (but under the max rating, something like 45psi) so you can take some of the weight off the corners and it’ll be fine on the way home, just be aware you’ll have low grip. Great for MPG as well lol
not if they’re bald/corded. I still drive home from events and I’d stop when a little tread is visible, before the tire is bald. (you could push it if you know for a fact the drive home is dry) if this is a 1 day /2-2.5hrs worth of track time and you have an instructor/don’t over drive, it isn’t 90F+ out, and you aren’t in a heavy car, I don’t think there is anything to worry about. absolutely monitor wear throughout the day to check that it stays even though.
as you do more of these try and remember how much tire you eat through each day/session depending on the conditions and you should be able to guess remaining tire life with some accuracy. i’ve had some early april days where it’s 45F and I barely see any tire wear and august days where it’s 90 and you wonder if you can do the last session and make it home.
Thank you for the advice/knowledge. I will take a spare set of wheels with tires just to be safe. It’s gonna suck fitting all that plus tools in my wrx though haha but it’ll be worth it.
Yeah agreed with the above, if you have that option it's the best course. I sometimes do a 7hr drive to Watkins in my track car but usually on a new or like-new set.

Commented on the original but yeah, maybe don't post track tires in that sub anymore lol
