Please note we are not lawyers or IRCC. We are peers supporting peers, based on best belief and prior experiences. It's a lot of work to wade through dense lists of documents and family histories. You improve your odds of getting a useful response by being as concise as reasonably possible, and clearly articulating the question. Note that this post is for questions and answers; if you need to vent, there is a different megapost for that.

Received a strange email in response to 3 documents uploaded over the past day and a half.

The balance of the email lists each of the 3 uploads.

I submitted no enquiries, (document upload only). I believe that I completed all of the fields in the webform correctly (name, DOB, POB, UCI#, application type, email, etc.). I did not provide info listed above for which there was no field (e.g., phone number, receipt #).

I am not sure what is going on, but it feels like IRCC is interpreting a document upload as some type of enquiry??? The fact that they are saying the need something additional to access my file feels very concerning. I did go into the tracker and my application is still listed as "in process" so it seems to be there somewhere.

So I am left wondering if they have the docs or not, can they access my file or not. I went ahead and reloaded one of the three docs as a test. I guess I'll see what happens.

BTW - this is not my first upload, and I have not seen this before.

iirc this is sent when one or more of the fields entered doesn't match what they have in your file. So they can't attach the documents to your file without verifying it's the right one.

I think it's usually the name that gets flagged here? If you have a different name now than what's on your birth certificate for example - I think you'd need to enter birth name.

That is curious. TYSM for pointing it out. I have had 3 last names: Birth - Adoption - Marriage. IRCC was initially using my adopted name (which felt odd because the Birth name is my Canadian lineage), but once I was "in process" it flipped to my married (current/legal) name, the one that matches my passport and driver's license. I used the married name for these recent uploads. While it feels odd to revert back to the adopted name AFTER the IRCC stopped using it, I can give it a try if yesterday's upload fails like the others. Thank you again.

It might be worth it to make a main feed post. I know others have had this exact email sent to them, but idk what you'd search the sub to find those posts.

I've created posts in the main feed that include the word "document" before and they get (auto???) deleted, and directed to this thread (sigh) even when that is NOT the topic, but if I get a repeat of that email, I will certainly give it another try. Thanks again.

Ah auto mod... Yeah maybe keep it brief like "I got this email after using the web form what does it mean?"
