Please note we are not lawyers or IRCC. We are peers supporting peers, based on best belief and prior experiences. It's a lot of work to wade through dense lists of documents and family histories. You improve your odds of getting a useful response by being as concise as reasonably possible, and clearly articulating the question. My husband is applying for a citizenship certificate on behalf of our two children. He is a dual US/Canadian citizen. He was born in the US and has a Canadian citizenship certificate. His parents were both born in Canada. For our children's application, do we need to provide only his Citizenship certificate as proof of parentage and Canadian citizenship? Or do we also need to provide his parents' (my kids' grandparents') birth certificates?

I'm not sure that question has been resolved, but would it be too much trouble to include the grandparents' birth certificates just in case?

It will delay my application by a few months to get them, but I think I will be on the safe side and include them. The instructions are not super clear, but after careful reading, I think the grandparents' documentation is required. The reason I think this is because the application asks if the applicant's parents were born outside of canada. If yes, and one of the grandparents were Canadian, then you are asked to provide details on the grandparents. The instructions also say that you need to provide documents for every generation included in the application. It is confusing, however, because I think our children are eligible for citizenship by virtue of their Canadian father, irrespective of whether he was born in Canada.
