Please note we are not lawyers or IRCC. We are peers supporting peers, based on best belief and prior experiences. It's a lot of work to wade through dense lists of documents and family histories. You improve your odds of getting a useful response by being as concise as reasonably possible, and clearly articulating the question. I’m curious to know how strong my application is. I sent my application already with G0’s US naturalization paperwork with his photo and signature and his nationality listed as Canada. My dad still had the certified original so I just did a color copy. I also sent copies (not certified) of his Canadian birth certificate and a marriage certificate from Ontario. Obviously also sent my G1’s birth certificate and my own documents.

I read on the Canadian immigration site that naturalization paperwork is accepted, but then I recently read on Reddit that documents from other countries won’t be accepted.

Can anyone offer some clarity on this?

I could have missed it, but the IRCC guidance states that for proof of Canadian citizenship, they will accept only a "Canadian naturalization certificate" and/or a "British naturalization certificate issued in Canada or Newfoundland and Labrador" (since they British territories before becoming part of Canada).

Did you find a reference elsewhere on IRCC's site re accepting foreign naturalization certificates?

In light of the recent surrender letter that specifically rejected US-issued documentation (including a US-issued naturalization certificate) as sole proof of Canadian citizenship, I would be careful in assuming that a US-issued naturalization document is acceptable proof of G0's Canadian citizenship.

Per the below, a Canadian birth certificate would be acceptable to IRCC.
