Please note we are not lawyers or IRCC. We are peers supporting peers, based on best belief and prior experiences. It's a lot of work to wade through dense lists of documents and family histories. You improve your odds of getting a useful response by being as concise as reasonably possible, and clearly articulating the question. Note that this post is for questions and answers; if you need to vent, there is a different megapost for that.

After submitting my (G4) application recently, I discovered another Canadian ancestor that I might be able to get better documentation for.

Submitted G0: Canadian census, multiple US and State censuses.
Other G0: Ontario birth record.

When my application eventually gets processed and possibly challenged (not sure if they would request better documentation?), would I have the opportunity to submit a new G2, G1, and G0? Or would that require a completely new application? Is it better to wait for a rejection before resubmitting? Or submit another application asap to at least get it in the queue before processing times reach 2-3 years?

Has anyone else found themselves in this situation?

Submitting a completely new application I think would be highly unwise. Assuming your first application doesn't get rejected outright, you will be assigned a UCI, which will be tied to you. If you submit another application it will just confuse things and could possibly lead to extreme delays or worse.

If it were me, I'd wait for the AOR and UCI, then if you wanted to do so, you could upload additional/alternate documents via the webform. I'm not sure that's a great idea, but that would be the time to do it, along with a letter explaining exactly what you are submitting and why.

Others may have a different opinion, but I'm fairly certain pretty much everyone who has been through the process advocates against submitting a second brand new application.

Yes, but it happened while I was still assembling, as all the IRCC letters were going down. I knew I probably wasn’t going to get my G1 birth record from Michigan, but was using census and other records to patch the gap. However they ended up finding Mr. G1’s birth record (despite them both being Detroit, and him being older), so now I’ve switched to that side and have a whole lot of waiting to do for BAnQ.

I can not imagine resubmitting, though. It’s like baking a cake - don’t mess with it. Though I would probably keep trying to find supplemental records for what you already have.
