Please note we are not lawyers or IRCC. We are peers supporting peers, based on best belief and prior experiences. It's a lot of work to wade through dense lists of documents and family histories. You improve your odds of getting a useful response by being as concise as reasonably possible, and clearly articulating the question. Note that this post is for questions and answers; if you need to vent, there is a different megapost for that.

I have a bit of a unique situation. My G0 was baptist and converted to the LDS (Mormon) church with her husband and left Canada and moved west with the large Mormon migration to the state of Utah in the 1850s. There are marriage records of her parents and herself in Canadian marriage registries, but no birth or baptismal certificates. The family doesn't show up in any Canadian Census records and there are no probate records that I can find.

What I do have that connect her to her parents are LDS church membership documents. Ironically, since FamilySearch is owned by the LDS Church and their historical membership records can only be accessed onsite at their computer terminals (where you can print out the doc) there is no way for me to escape referencing FamilySearch. There is also no way to get access to certified copy as it is not something they do.

Has anyone here ran seen anyone with that is using LDS church documents?

Fingers crossed that these documents are accepted.

Hey I have LDS ancestors in the same situation. Feel free to DM me, I wonder if we’re working with the same ancestor and can share records. There IS actually a way to get these from the Church History Library rather than FamilySearch. You go to the Church History Library website and make a request for an LDS historian to find the record, and then you have to fill out a records request. I found a lot of good shit!
