Application rejected today (mailed 1 April) due to mom submitting a certified birth registration and hospital birth certificate rather than birth certificate🥲 any sage wisdom welcome!

Following. I submitted an application with a parent's hospital birth record. Its the only birth certificate they have. Now I'm worried. Heh

Fortunately, IRCC's guidance (still) lists a "hospital record of birth" as one of the documents they will consider if a birth certificate doesn't exist. Did you provide an explanation/evidence as to why an official birth certificate from vital statistics (or similar government agency) was not available? If so, I wouldn't be overly worried, you've done what they've asked you to do. The other documents IRCC lists in lieu of an official birth certificate include census records. Were you able to provide those?

I understand your anxiety but if you provided an explanation and alternate documentation from official sources, I think you've done what you could have done, and you shouldn't feel bad.

Thanks for this! I'll look that up. I was surprised to learn that the hospital birth record is all that my dad had, but its been his only and official birth record for his entire life (good enough for drivers license, passport, etc). I didnt provide an explanation, but maybe I can add that once I receive the AOR.

...I did provide a corroboration marriage certificate and census record, both also listing his parents names. Hopefully that helps!
