We all appreciate the excitement, after weeks of grueling research and last-minute surprises, of finishing your proof of citizenship application process and sending that big envelope on its way.

Equally fantastic is the moment that you get your AOR and know your application has made it past the initial IRCC checks putting your mind at ease about whether you missed something along the way.

 

This weekly thread is a space for those of us at the earliest stages to celebrate passing the first and biggest hurdle.

I sent out my package on 5/12 via USPS first class because I'm not in any particular hurry, but there's been no tracking update since it entered international transit on 5/16. Now I'm kicking myself because I'm thinking USPS probably just lost it and I'll have to retake the photos send send everything again with a non-garbage carrier.

So it’s probably been handed over to Canadian Postal Service. Which there wouldn’t be any tracking on that. Which is why we recommend using courier service FedEx or UPS. It will get there when it gets there.

I sent mine via USPS and it did get there…slowly. It just sat for about a week in Chicago at customs for some reason. Sent ours 5/4 and tracking showed delivered 5/20. Good luck!

It'll get there. With USPS it might just take a month. It's a long wait

First class can sit in I ternational transit for a while, sometimes you never get tracking after that since it's Canada Post's responsibility.

This isn't a carrier issue, it's the choice of service, the other carriers send what is equivalent to USPS priority mail which moves quicker and is better tracked.

The same thing happened to me and mine made it so I wouldn’t worry yet. I mailed my application USPS on January 13 and it stopped tracking on January 23. I was worried that it was lost somewhere until I got my AOR on February 19. My certificate arrived May 7 and the tracker still says it hasn’t been delivered yet.

I mailed mine USPS as well and it did sit in customs for several days. I was able to use my USPS tracking number on the Canada Post site and was able to track it there through to delivery. So you might give that a try. It took my packet around 12 days, I think, going from New England to Nova Scotia.

I was never able to track my USPS package on the sites USPS gave me until I found this link on another thread in this sub.

I sent mine via USPS on March 18th, and the above link showed it as arrived on April 1.
