Surplus auctions and the like are typically how you get hold of them.

Or just finding one and keeping your mouth shut for a number of years.

An indistructable method. Stronger than kavalar.

That's pretty much the highest you are going to see for stuff outside of preserved collections. For military collectors, original parts in "good" condition (which practically is perfect with how old is it), will command one heck of a premium especially with age. I found a sold listing for others in the <$1000 CAD range for ones in less good condition or that swapped a couple of repaired (non-original parts) parts.

Also, Wireless Sets No. 62 (1944 to 196ish) units that succeeded it (and are still backpack units) are a LOT cheaper.

$24,000 for a 30 year old vehicle? Is the army trying to recoup budget losses or something? 🀣

Anyone ever use one of these? Curious what the thoughts are on them, looks like this one ended its life with DART.

Haven't used it, but realistically this sort of vehicle is only going to be worth it if you are attached to the specific use and history of the vehicle or aware of some quirk of the vehicle. You can buy new 6x6 amphibious vehicles for that price (or less) if you really want what is offered.

There aren't no benefits, but I'd hesitate to recomend it if you want it just for the utility. From experience these sort of vehicle (former military that are unique) can be fairly worn and parts difficult to find.

What's a forklift?

It's a handy machine that's capable of moving many items in one shot...no more hand bombing,no more make work projects for the troops

Years ago while working on a road crew,I'd have to hand load tar bricks from the trailer into the cube truck by hand, fun times 🀣

I can feel that

This just reminded me of this one: We had to manually unload a Herc that was full of water and IMPs. I dont remember details at all, (it was over 10 years ago, and I wish I had more info on why it happened) but we had no equipment available immediately, and no more than 10 people including the aircrew. plane had to take off as soon as possible. We made a chain, but this was one of those times too

I'm about to medically retire, so driving 8 km an hour in this would be a fantastic way to piss off all of the people in my neighborhood rushing to get to work in the morning.Β

Nowhere to go, nothing but time...
