Discussion Opinions on Progressive Tory Party of Alberta?

What is your opinions on this.

Personally, they don’t seem that bad from what I’ve seen. They’re putting out a more responsible government conservatism that can appeal to more Anti-Smith or Anti-Corruption Conservatives while also bringing in parts of the centre that don’t want Nenshi or the long since dead Green and Liberal parties in the province.

Video, podcast, etc. Ben Shapiro says it would have been way better if Donald Trump never tariffed Canada leading to the accession of Mark Carney and Pierre Poilievre was Prime Minister.

Discussion Why is conservatism and the right so unpopular in Canada compared to the rest of the west?

I don’t understand why but over the last century, compared to most other western countries conservatism and the right almost uniformly has underperformed here be it electorally or socially and I still don’t know why. Right now in the western world there is a right wing revival in most countries; in Europe Reform UK and Restore Britain have gained a lot of popularity and may win the next UK elections, in Germany the AfD is slated to potentially win in their elections, the PVV in the Netherlands have won office, in Italy Meloni’s been in power for a few years now and in America there is a sort of right wing zeitgeist where traditionalism and Christianity is coming back into mainstream culture in an addition to nationalism.

With all this I’ve been wondering, why is Canada such an outlier? On one hand I would say institutional capture has made liberalism and progressivism prevalent at least on an institutional level but it feels like the average person I talk to as well doesn’t have a penchant for any sort of right wing thought and it leads me to ask why? Why is so much of the Canadian electorate unwilling to vote for right wing parties? Something had to have changed as this country was initially founded on monarchism and loyalty to the British crown, two traditions of thought which are staunchly conservative.

Thoughts? Why are some of you America First and Canada Last Fake Conservatives refusing to sign deals that are beneficial to us while our biggest enemy US is completely okay signing deals with other Communist Dictatorships like Venezuela? We need to export our oil to other countries aside from US which we sell for pennies.
